Hummm, I`ll let you off with a warning this time @clancy...

LOLZ! Look at me! The IAB Police!

I think @Grendel`s point is that Palin didn`t use actual "crosshairs" and the MSM went berzerk, while several Democrats used ACTUAL crosshairs! And the MSM said nothing, even after it was pointed out.

@ 5cats: I think you missed my point. I was saying that both are the same thing. They are both marking locations. However, the reasons used by Grendel were nothing but stretched meanings. Thus being a part of the rhetoric making him a hypocrite through his statement. I do not care which politically party used which. My "pro" Bush -he`s an idiot- part of my post was merely using an actual fact given to me by Grendel`s picture. Yes, my first post may have been confusing, my apologizes.

@clancy: They identified locations on a map... using symbols that identify places on a map. How does that mean they`re hypocrites?
The MSM however, ignored actual targets & crosshairs on DEM ads, but attacked Palin for NON-crosshairs.
THAT is hypocracy.

But, you know: Don`t let common sense slow down your rhetoric...

I may be wrong, but if black people don`t want to be thought of as separate from other races, then why do they keep forming organizations only they`re allowed to join?

You might be stupid if...you think that a surveyor`s mark and cross hairs aren`t similar. Don`t let common sense slow down your rhetoric. Hypocrisy at its finest. While I do not know the caption to the Palin map, with the Bush map the targets made sense because of the caption went with it. And in conclusion, who the drat cares if they used a cross hair, surveyor symbol or target?

Altaru-"I think I remember Sarah Palin at one point using crosshairs targeting Democrat areas..."

You remember incorrectly, her election did not use `crosshairs`. In actually they were closer to a Surveyor Symbol or a publisher`s crop/registration marks.

Compare a surveyor symbol:

and a registration mark:

with Palin`s map:

Now, look at the TARGETS on the DEMOCRATIC map, that no news organization ever complained about:

But, don`t let facts slow down your Rhetoric.

You were right about one thing, though: it was pretty unfair of me to criticise all Americans, and attribute characteristics to you as a whole based on the actions of the select few I`ve met on here and in the real world (although, Crakr was asking for the "dumb about geography" observation by stating that the Philippines was a UK/European problem, and 5Cats wasn`t making North America seem too clever either by claiming that a UK women`s prison was "hell on earth", then not even being able to name the prison he was talking about – WTFingF??). I note with interest, though, that whilst you leapt immediately to defend Americans against such stereotyping, there`s been precious little criticism from any of you concerning the many, many equally-offensive comments on here that have attributedf stereotypical characteristics to groups like blacks and women. Think about it.

Love, Mac. x

I`m glad that my views upset you, however. That`s sometimes what it takes to confront conventional opinion or wilful ignorance. Just to clarify something, though, it`s *not* just your government`s actions that I object to – it is you, "ordinary" Americans. Another similarity between USA 2012 and Germany 1939 is that you both freely elected the governments that have gone on to do terrible things. Unlike the Soviet population under Stalin, or the North Koreans under Kim Jong-Il, you actually *chose* the successive governments that have engaged in torture and other human rights abuses, including as I`ve pointed out abuses directed towards your own children in custody.

No, I`m not a troll. Whatever you or anyone else may think about my opinions, I believe I`ve made it abundantly clear by backing up my opinions with reports from independently-verifiable sources such as the US Department of Justice that they`re based on truth. Trolls by comparison don`t care about the truth - they`ll just say anything to get a reaction; that`s the difference.

"I knew that Americans were generally dumb about world geography"
"I know you can`t help being uncouth - you`re American, after all."
is not just unnecessary and insulting,it portrays yourself as a simple minded and ignorant bigot who buys into stereotypes.

We`re a big country with a large population, we`re going to have stupid people. Every single country is going to have stupid people.

Saying the things that you do really just makes you sound like an elitist prick, which I suppose doesn`t bother you, since you continue to do it, but I cannot possible fathom how the poor people feel who have to interact on a daily basis with such an unpleasant sounding person such as yourself.

What kind of idiot are you?

Palin was using a normal piece of political rhetoric, which many others including democrats used. Her symbol was also not actually crosshairs, but a surveyor`s symbol although that is not especially relevant.

The NBPs have used threats and incited violence against a man who was not even been charged with a crime when in custody. They have offered a reward for his "capture", which is a felony, considering his capture would be kidnap.

You know, I think I remember Sarah Palin at one point using crosshairs targeting Democrat areas...

I think the argument went "They`re not actually gun sights, they`re just pointers! You know, like pointing out a target! It`s not violent rhetoric at all!"

So obviously, according to that logic, the BP aren`t trying to incite violence against Zimmerman, of course, they`re just pointing at him with non-violent rhetoric that means nothing except that he`s the person the justice system should be targeting.

(Just poking fun at conservative logic, I`m not actually trying to draw genuine parallels here.)

I`m so glad the members of the black panthers have taken a month from their busy schedules to focus all their time and energy on one black man killed by a hispanic guy. Meanwhile, in the weeks since this has occurred, dozens of young black men across the country have been killed by other young black men, without so much as a passing reference.

Well, I hope we`ve all learned something here today.

Allow me to summarize:

* In America, all 12 year olds are randomly strip-searched for walking their dogs in prison.

* By contrast, in enlightened Europe, juvenile inmates are taught useful life-skills, such as rioting in France or looting shops in downtown London.

* Everyone in any American prison is there for petty offences incurred when they failed to return a library book on time. Yes, Big Library and Big Prison have formed an unholy alliance, and the innocent masses must pay.

I think we can all agree the discussion was fruitful and, above all, an agent of real change in this, our troubled world.

As a result, a behaviour such as pouring sugar into a glass of orange juice is just as likely to result in restraint as initiating a fist fight."

Some quotes:

"Incarcerated girls may also be at risk of sexual abuse. Human Rights Watch and the ACLU documented three cases in the past five years of staff having intercourse with their wards."

Slap handcuffs on me, charge me with some trumped up BS like "Disorderly Conduct" and get ordered to strip by some high-school dropout / community watch-wannabe failure that got a minimum wage job at a prison? Most of the human rights abuses I`ve read about have been from staff towards inmates. I`ve read about girls as young as twelve being stripped and beaten by cowardly men hiding behind prison uniforms, all the while your equally-cowardly populace does nothing to protest the appalling abuse in its midst, because such victims are "only prisoners". The parallels between America 2012 and Germany 1939 are staggering when it comes to the abuse you turn a blind eye to in your society, and the disparity of treatment you tolerate between the privileged few and the oppressed many.

Not only that but the move to corporate owned prisons in the 1980s has led us into a world where corporations profit with more prisoners. The silence about the whole situation is scary. People should be screaming from their rooftops. Sadly they`d be ignored like a Louisianan during Katrina.

Excellent link @We-Go! Welcome to IAB!

Yes Trayvon had multiple tattoos, at 17! And was suspended from school for grafitti and drugs.

He was 6`2", 160 at least. Zimmerman was 5`9" 170 NOT 250 as the media bleats endlessly! Look at the video, is that a 250 pound person?

Not only that, but thanks to Bush, Jail and Prison staff are now exempt from prosecution for any crime they commit against any person in custody. There have been cases of women being illegal strip-searched by men, and tazered when they insisted on their right to be searched only by women. If they were actually convicts in prison, that would still be bad enough, but these are people arrested and *suspected* of minor offences we`re talking about here.

Most Americans seem incapable of the sort of imaginative intelligence to realise that these abuses could easily be inflicted on them, though, and prefer to believe that since it`s "only happening to prisoners" that`s somehow OK.

So did you mis-state your point, or are you suggesting prison officials will start popping up on street-corners, demanding to strip-search random pedestrians? You`re the one who said `prison officials.`

This whole Trayvon thing is blown WAY out in left field. The media shows pictures of Trayvon when he was 12. They should be broadcasting current photos...6`1" & 200 lbs. People would certainly have a different perspective on this. Has anyone seen the pictures that he had posted on his facebook? The family removed the twitter posts because it definitely wasn`t what a boy going to the store to get skittles would do. Oh...and skittles?? It`s street slang for MDMA or Ecstasy.
Was Trayvon Dealing Drugs?

Quick update: MacGuffin and I just married, after a whirlwind romance in Derbyshire. We will be honeymooning atop the Eiffel Tower, and afterward will settle down to our quaint faux-cabin double-wide trailer, where I will work the midnight shift at the potted meat plant and she will toil in the kitchen, preparing an endless stream of sammiches for our seven unruly hellspawn.

We are registered at Home Depot under the name `Booger.`

I`m just being honest here - what you said literally doesn`t make any kind of sense to me. Anyhoo, I just editorialized that the `cross hairs concern me` because I really don`t want to see another Rodney King-like full-scale riot that started in Los Angeles and carried over throughout the States. I dealt with my town going on full-alert once already, I don`t want to have to deal with it again.

I understand the rage and the need for street justice, but by making a flyer with cross hairs on anyone sends a message of murder. As much as I hate people, I rather not have to navigate my way to and fro work amidst looting and rioting and if this situation gets any further out of hand, that`s where it`s headed.

Then again, if there is a riot, it gives me an excuse to avoid the office and work from home in my underwear.

Yep, you read that right. If there is a Zimmerman/Martin riot, I-A-B WILL CARRY FORTH!

I guess the part about "otherwise free man" eluded you. As of yet they haven`t felt they have the evidence to hold Zimmerman. OBL was a wanted fugitive and war criminal with overwhelming evidence. A private bounty not backed by an authority of some type on a man not yet convicted or proven guilty is different just a hair but I guess I wouldn`t expect you to see that either. You`re so pathetic. You refuse to wait for the whole story, you cry murder on the man, then call for murder of your own instead of seeking justice through the accepted system of law. All under the claim that the system has failed despite the fact it hasn`t concluded. They are investigating the DA who left to make sure there wasn`t foul play and everything. It`s at work and the system takes time. I get he distinct feeling it wouldn`t matter if someone came out with a video of the whole thing that clearly showed Zimmerman within the law you would simply say the law itself is wrong and call for blood all the

A pacifist approach to protest their views is great but it`s so conflicting with the $1m bounty and cross-hairs. I don`t see how a bounty isn`t illegal as a direct threat since it involves paying someone to abduct an otherwise free man (atm). That is directly funding crime and vigilantism which is supposed to be what they are mad about. Humans are so good at turning a blind eye in their interests one moment and calling for blood the next.

Violence is what happens when a large body of people don`t get the justice they were promised. If the authorities want to prevent sentiment like this, they should get off their arses and investigate this alleged offence properly. And that investigation should start with the person accused of this very serious offence being detained on remand.

Lets remember you said that, a bit later on in the thread when you`re trying portray yourself as a reasonable, impartial observer rather than the racist moron that you actually are.

hmmm.. think I`m gonna go head and reserve the other 364 days for other `justice days.` I`m gonna make june 13th a justice day for my friend who was so viciously assaulted in high school. Reason, the color of his skin. Yep. He was white.

"The Black Panthers have a pretty good graphic artist on staff, but he was busy airbrushing dollar signs on his bright purple 1997 Crown Victoria."

I don`t have to feel bad for laughing at this because it is not racist.

>>>I`m not on Zimmerman`s side on this, but this poster goes too far. It`s tantamount incitement to violence and fancy and IAB should be prosecuted for it.<<<

LOL! I mean, it`s ridiculous, but yeah, it could really happen these days in the "Land of the Free". I mean, if a legal system is corrupt enough to lock up a human rights lawyer for holding a press conference, meanwhile that same legal system lets child-murdering war criminals go free, who knows what other abuses it`s capable of?

New Black Panthers are stupid.

But guys, stop calling Trayvon Martin a "gangsta thug." He was a kid. There are plenty of teens who act that way in their pics, but it doesn`t mean they`re in a gang. I remember kids acting that way when I was Trayvon`s age.

so if you stereotype a people that is not a racist act?...damn this is confusing, can we just make up a new word that covers everything? I will try to use that word more responsibly in the future.

What gets me is why the black panthers havent been arrested yet? Anyone else would have been prosecuted by now.

And i love how theyre using a very old pic of zimmerman, who looks NOTHING like that anymore.

Gawd, we are a stupid, stupid people.
The downfall of the U.S. is obviously the "survival of the fittest" theory in action. We don`t deserve to continue.

drat that. Trayvon Martin wasn`t a civil rights leader, he wasn`t a humanitarian, he wasn`t even a particularly decent human being. (ex. his "Gangsta" facebook pictures) On April 9th, go about your day as usual. The world will keep on turnin`.
