Midnite Musicology + Marilyn Manson: No Reflection

It"s the new one from Manson. Does he still have it? Did he lose it? Too tame? Not hardcore enough?

I`m glad to see that he seems like he`s going back to his older sound a bit, I wasn`t enamored with anything after Holywood. And completely tuned out after I heard his hit off of Eat me, Drink me.

"I don`t know which me that I love. Got no reflection." I like it. Seems like something that would resonate with a lot of people -- you put on a false personality to make society like you, and forget who you really are. You forget who you want to be, and you don`t know who`s looking back at you from the mirror. Other than the Eat Me Drink Me album, Manson`s songs always seem really deep to me if you`re willing to actually look.

Golden Age of Grotesque was my favourite album.

"So my Bon Mots, Hit-boy Tommy Irons, Rowdy rowdies, Honey-fingered Goodbye Dolls. Hellzapoppin, open your third nostril, put on your black face, and your god is gone.

We`re the low Art Gloominati, and we aim to depress. The scabaret sacrilegends, this is the Golden Age of Grotesque"

The problem with middle-aged MM is that his 90`s appeal was to kids who didn`t know anything about goth, Pink Floyd the wall, Alice Cooper, Joel Peter Witkin, etc. His act was shocking to middle America, but only groundbreaking to people who only bought music at malls.

Hmm, I like it. It didn`t blow me away, but it`s standard Manson fare. I`d put it on my iPod.

Soooo excited for the new album.

Although, IMHO nothing will ever top Antichrist Superstar (miss Reznor`s Producing influence) MM has consistently put out good music (if you`re a fan) and one AWESOME live show. Can`t wait.

Sounds like classic MM to me. Therefore good. I didn`t like his rap/poppy crap he put out awhile ago. This makes up for it.

@tedgp

I imagine he`ll realize his time is over when he stops making poo loads of money every year.

Why is he made up like the Joker, but it has nothing to do with Batman?

Marilyn Manson was hardcore? Umm... no.

Also remember he`s 43. The guy REALLY needs to grow up and realise his time is over.

Yeah, I like it. Seems on par with one of the lesser tracks from Mechanical Animals. Still nowhere near the level of greatness of Alice Cooper`s latest album though (and HE`s been doing this for over 40 years).

Meh. Lack of originality with the joker smile makeup and that same Marylin Manson voice we`re so tired of and the same old "everybody dies" way of making his music videos... I`m sure he would have made a biggest impression on the viewers if he would have made a song about sparkling vampires instead of having no reflexion.

=D
