...or is he just in the Friend Zone? My guess: Friend Zone.

How about this scenario.... They are a genuinely happy couple with a lot in common and a bright future together and screw all the cynical, superficial jerks who automatically assume otherwise based on their own shallow snap judgments and prejudices.

Meh girl is prolly just a nerd who can be a knock out when she wants to. My wife is like this. When she dresses it up I am so outmatched.

As an occasional kilt wearer, I find this cool.

Pfft, the tartan in her corsage doesn`t match her date`s. Prom FAIL!

He`s probably wearing his clan tartan and she her clans tartan on her corsage (if it is tartan, it could just be a colourful ribbon?). Their tartans wouldn`t match if they`re not from the same clan.

Am I missing something? This is usual formal attire for a someone from Scotland. Often worn to weddings etc. You need to educate yourself...

That`s Scottish formal wear. No big deal.

I`d be confident too if I looked like that and was going to prom with her.

Or he is crazy wealthy?

Then again there is the possibility that he is a genuinely good person, and that girl doesn`t value a person based on purely superficial reasons...

Nothing wrong with a man in a kilt at all. Unless you`re not actually Scottish, because then it`s technically cross-dressing.

Yeah, I`d bet the school would frown on wearing the skean dhu.
@MacGuffin. I`d expect better from a fellow Scot.

It`s "sgian dubh", unless you`re a stinky sassenach.
Americans will have a hard enough time pronouncing the Anglicised version. If I`d used the Gaelic spelling, I`d have only been inadvertently spreading ignorance. Yanks reading that spelling will think it`s pronounced the same way as it sounds when you sneeze violently.
Either that, or do what my cousin did and use a spoon instead.
You get wee ones that are just plastic handles too.

"No skean dhu - tsk! I bet he`s wearing underpants too."

If it`s a school activity, then having anything with a blade is generally not a good idea. He could easily be wearing it for this picture though, and just take it off before arriving.

Either that, or do what my cousin did and use a spoon instead.

Also what`s wrong with this pic? I don`t get it!?

I dug my kilt out at the weekend for a wedding. :)

This isn`t prom, you don`t wear short dresses to prom, and if you do you should be met at the door and immediately turned away.

His cousin and from the looks of her slutty dress he has reason to be confident he`ll score.

umm...what? lol

He is wearing a kilt. It doesn`t take being confident....it usually takes a little scottish to go there fashion wise.

Bravo kid, looking good.

You need to get out more. This is totally acceptable evening wear for a Scot and he looks good.
