At first I thought it said ArethaCast, and we were going to get to see what Aretha Franklin had for breakfast.

Google has had lots of legal problems associated with Google Earth and Street View, so I assume this will face a myriad of similar problems.

Let`s see how fast, and how many things the government can black out in the first 24 hours.
It would be nice to get a detailed look at Area 51, though I doubt it will ever happen.

I don`t think this is a good idea at all... What happened to privacy? Does that even matter anymore?

ummm... when this gets bigger, like say enough cameras to cover the whole earth all at the same time, won`t this be a problem if your a protected witness, or anything like that? The person(s) looking for you could get an idea of where you are and just find you with this.

Google invading on your privacy? more likely than you think

key highlights from my link:
"The cars with roof-mounted cameras...were mapping local Wi-Fi networks"
"He says Google also admitted taking in data over those networks that weren’t password protected."
"Google had in its possession full e-mails and conversations and web pages that web browsers had visited"
"The FCC found no laws were broken"

Privacy trouble? Probably not. They sure do make it sound more impressive than it actually is.

"The camera will provide a 40 km wide, high resolution, color image down to as close as 1.1 metres."
Meaning 1.1 meters = one pixel, spy satellites have been doing much better for a very long time, and clearly they cannot easily find WMD`s

Hubble has a resolving power of 0.1 arc-seconds, if you pointed it at earth, you`d still be limited to `15-centimeter pixels`

forgive me if I`m wrong, but 1 metre resolution isn`t gonna let you see very much detail. The images they use to exemplify what they`re talking about "...or sporting events" is pretty mis-leading. It`s gonna be interesting, but nothing like what you see here.

1 meter resolution, does that mean 1 square meter at ground level = 1 pixel. If so I think your fine Gerry

That`s some epic music for a simple concept.

As great as it sounds, I bet it will run into privacy trouble.

They said I was being paranoid when I was convinced the government was always watching me... *rocks back and forth in a corner*
Now two countries are admitting it...
Where`s the resperidone when I need it heh.
