Is it just me, or are the vast majority of facts against 5Cats, CrakrJak, McGovern1981, and eddy666 dismissed for purely ad hominem-type reasons?

eddy666: "The title of that article is just as propaganda".

Care to comment on the CONTENT of that article? Of course not.

CrakrJak: "`Media Matters` is another George Soros front group, not unlike `Moveon.org`. It has ZERO credibility.".

That doesn`t mean that it`s wrong. Free Market America has less than zero credibility, but others have explained errors in this video anyways. So what errors are there on the site I linked to?

Anyone can simply dismiss something, that doesn`t explain/prove it`s wrong.

Sorry @patchy, from 0:55 on he`s clearly saying how the `fail folks` talk.
Well if he`s saying this is how proponents of climate change put forth their argument then they`re doing it wrong.
Current `alge tech` uses SO MUCH water it`s unimaginable! And I don`t think they can use seawater either.

And WHO do you think is researching all these new technologies? Yes, it`s the oil companies.
The water usage of algae tech depends on the type of growth system you use. Raceway ponds don`t use a whole lot, and rain helps replenish it. I`ve worked with 1000L photobioreactors as well, and I can tell you that the water is recycled. There are many different methods of extracting algal oil, right now one of the most interesting is using electromagnetic waves to flocculate and lyse the cells, and some companies even claim the cells are still viable after this. You are correct that oil companies do lots of the research though, but that`s for tax breaks a

@LillianDulci: If ALL of the USA`s food crops were used to make `biofuels` it still wouldn`t be enough to replace oil, by a long ways.
And half the planet would starve...

Current `alge tech` uses SO MUCH water it`s unimaginable! And I don`t think they can use seawater either.

And WHO do you think is researching all these new technologies? Yes, it`s the oil companies. You think they`re blind idiots? THEY KNOW where the money is! If there`s a way to make a buck, they`ll find it!!!

Sorry @patchy, from 0:55 on he`s clearly saying how the `fail folks` talk. I remember the New Ice Age scare!

@mackin: If wind and solar are "free" than why do they cost 2X or 3X as much? Why do billions of tax dollars get handed out to companies? Who then go bankrupt?
Under Germany`s "solar initiative" their electric rates have DOUBLED and solar & wind still only porovide a tiny % of their electric power.
Not nice.

This video was a terrible propaganda piece. It didn`t even try to bring science into the equation because the science disagrees with virtually everything that was stated. It was a clear attempt at a silver-tounged devil approach to convincing voters.

No surprise that this was funded by a Florida PAC which recieved significant funding contributions from loggers, energy companies, and realtors who would just love to tear a path through any piece of land they can and be damned with the consequences.

It`s interesting that he uses "energy" as a codeterm for oil, and while implying he wants cheap energy sources, he ignores solar and mocks wind- which are free, safe, and abundant.
HE isn`t using those terms improperly
Um...yes he is. Global warming is the rise in global temperature, whereas climate change, as the name suggests, refers to the changes in the global climate which result from the increasing average global temperature. For example, changes in precipitation patterns, increased prevalence of droughts, heat waves, and other extreme weather, etc.

If he`s saying that the proponents of global warming and climate change are saying this then he`s a liar. How come whenever there`s a cold winter people always say "global warming is a hoax, look how cold it`s been!" That`s like saying stock prices aren`t crashing because it`s gone up a penny on one day.

"It`s that FOUR TIME THE COST part, that`s not `fine`."

Tbh this isn`t really a valid argument. Pretty much anything that`s newly discovered/invented is going to be much more expensive than anything that`s been known about and produced for quite a while. Just because it`s more costly now doesn`t mean it`ll always be more costly, it`s just a matter of gaining support and development for the new ideas rather than throwing tons of money at old ideas and ignoring or disregarding other possibilities.

It`s that FOUR TIME THE COST part, that`s not `fine`.

Well this is an obvious one sided presentation. Such blantent conservative talking points masked with an over produced video.

Yes I think oil is a terrible resource to exploit. It has all kinds of advantages that are just being wasted by unnecessarily burning the resource on your commute.

It`s sickening to think that the advancement of engery technology is being nerfed by powerful lobbyists, greedy drats, ignorant folks who somehow cannot learn from their experiences. Talk to the people on the gulf coast and ask them if oil is really worth the value we put on it.

@thubanstar: Biofuels from algae is actually my field of research and I have published papers on algal biofuels, and I definitely agree with you. The whole of industry is set to convert to biofuels eventually, it`s the only logical course of action. After all, the first diesel engines were made to run on peanut oil as far back as 1900.

My boyfriend is getting a Ph.D. in Environmental Science. He has done a lot of research of biofuels, and GUESS WHAT? The Navy and soon other branches of the military use BIOFUELS made from algae for their jets and ships.

You get over it. Gas will be a thing of the past eventually. It will either go peacefully, or with a lot of drama and B.S., unfortunately, looks like the second choice is going to happen.

Watched until he compared the terms "global warming" with "climate change" in terms of the relative temperature. The name wasn`t changed, they both mean different things and have both been used in scientific literature for decades. The notion that these terms were "changed" is the type of uninformed nonsense I`d expect from skeptics.

Baal: I`m just supposed to believe a .pdf file from a notorious environmental hippie law group without question? I think NOT.

Do you think that an oil company that erects windmills, invests in co-generation, invests in solar technology, etc... should be excluded from subsidies, that so called `green energy` companies get, just because their main business is oil?

Go ahead, I dare you democrats to remove those subsidies. Green energy would die very quickly without such investment from the oil companies, because they won`t invest in them without the subsidies. So go ahead, shoot yourself in the foot.

I ask because some of the conservative think tanks and PACs have taken to hiring "social ambassadors" to advance certain agendas (pro-pharmaceutical companies/anti-healthcare reform; pro-Big Oil/anti-alternative energy; pro-Big Banks/anti-OWS; etc.) on the internet.

Would either or both of you care to state, on your honor, that you aren`t being compensated for your postings in any way?

You claimed NASA was saying the exact opposite to what it was actually saying. They said warming, you said cooling.

Then you argued about it.

Every one of your "scandels" had the same problem. That you can make up 12 scandals is no evidence of wrongdoing.

You`re creating a sound board where you repeat lies to further a point of view.

Also: Again: You get more airtime than almost anyone else on this site, yet see that preferential treatment and claim you`re being silenced.

If we begin slowly changing now, it`ll be much easier than if we wait until there is no more oil or the atmosphere is too poisonous too breath. Fighting for freedom is like drating for virginity. We had our freedom hundreds of years ago, then some non-nice individual thought it would be good if we had a ruler to tell us how to kiss his ass. Since then we have had bad and not so good rulers telling us what is right and wrong. Why the hell do we even need these people? and why do they make so much money? A monkey with 4 buttons in front of them can choose just as well. 1 have a meeting , 2 sit in front of your enemy, 3 fight your enemy, 4 walk away and go on with your life . @jtreb: A fair question, here`s the answer: Canada is suppose to lower it`s emissions by 6% to 1992 levels, or else!
IF Canada STOPPED producing ALL greenhouse gas emissions, how much difference would it make?
Less that 1/10th of 1% over the next century, that`s how much.
NO cars, NO plastic, NO heat in the winter, NO farming, nothing! And it would not make a spitball in the ocean of difference!
And we`re arguing about 6%??? HA!

"Global Warming" is a fraud trying to take money from one group and give it to another group, with the "middlemen" getting the "lion`s share" of course!

If fully implimented, it would:
1)Destroy the world`s economy.
2)Kill hundreds of millions of mostly poor people
3)NOT MAKE A SPECK OF DIFFERENCE TO THE WEATHER!

What an epic pile of sh*t. The only people stupid enough to believe this propaganda are republicans. If I wanted America to fail, I`d pump billions of our dollars in to a toxic fuel source that destroys our environment, pollutes our air, and turns the golf coast in to a poisoned wasteland, while benefitting a few rich a**holes, instead of helping America become the leader of renewable fuels, like solar, like wind, like geo-thermal. I`d bribe every spineless politician I could find to give oil companies trillion-dollar tax-breaks, so they could keep f**king up the Earth in pursuit of an antiquated fuel source that`s going to run out in a few decades. Or I`d just give the Middle East all of our money (and by the way, the biggest transition of wealth ever in the history of the recorded world is occuring right now, where a massive percentage of America`s wealth is now the Middle East`s wealth, to the tune of trillions). Meanwhile, the majority of universities, scientists, and climatologists (not that silly little batch of weathermen the right-wing drummed up) are still expressing concern that Co2 emmissions could cause harm.

If I wanted America to fail I`d probably tell everyone else who they should vote for instead of letting them decide for themselves. Please keep your matter-of-fact opinions to yourselves.

@jt: The Tea Party came after the 2008 election, when the Democrats tried (again) to pacify the public with phoney `town hall meetings` which they expected to control, to try to push ObamaCare on the people. The trouble was, actual citizens started attending! lolz! It grew rapidly from there.

Joe Biden is the ultimate "beltway insider" in Washington. (now that Sen Byrd is dead). Mr Hope & Change chose THE MOST corrupt person in DC as his running mate? I`ll take Sarah over "Slow Joe" anytime.
the majority of climate experts have determined based on science
@jt: HAHAHA! You obviously haven`t been following the endless scandles and proof of falshoods in the AGW fraud, eh?
Majority? Never happened.
Science? Faked outright or `doctored` to fit the theory.
Not to mention the cover-ups, the money made by those promoting it, the TRILLIONS wasted on a non-issue.

@cajun: Ron Paul is undoubtedly the best 2012 candidate in ANY US party. Too bad he hasn`t got a chance in heck, eh?

Smart, experienced, honest, non-partisan, actual honest to God HERO!"

True that. I don`t agree with many of his stances, but he didn`t scare me.....until Palin and the Tea Party came along and brought the GOP to the extreme far right.

5cats: "but to think humans have even 1% effect (on the change, not the whole climate) is crazy."

Why is it crazy? Because contrary to what the majority of climate experts have determined based on science, you`ve read claims by meteorologists that disagree? We can diagree, but I don`t think it`s "crazy". "Crazy" is crossing your fingers and hoping they`re wrong.

Oh, and I love how he mentioned Henry Ford. Not only did he not ship jobs overseas, he made it a point to pay his workers enough so that they could afford his cars. Now? Screw that, right? Let`s pay people wages as low as the have in China or India, or we`ll ship even MORE jobs overseas. Let`s fire moms and dads that work as janitors in our schools, and hire their children to do the same job at a fraction of the cost!

"make it impossible for farmers to farm"???? Oh ok...let`s kick out all the ileegal migrant workers we`re all so "outraged" about, and hire ex-teacher, miloitary vets, and desk jockeys who are out of work to replace them. Do you really think they`ll take those jobs? Please.

@jt: If by that you mean the FAKE AGW scare? You`d be correct.
There is `climate change` but to think humans have even 1% effect (on the change, not the whole climate) is crazy.
I say that the HUGE ball of fire in the sky has much more to do with it.

`...make Amercians feel guilty about the energy they use."
Ever been over here dumbass? We don`t feel guilty about being 100lbs overweight, being ignorant as hell, driving 6ton trucks that get 5 miles a gallon...what the hell makes you think we feel guilty about any of that? We waste like no other and fight wars so we can continue to waste. It sucks, but we`ll never change.

(cont) global warming is the increase of the Earths temp., climate change refers to the effects of increased CO2.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. This is a perfect example of how corporate, special, and political interests use fearmongering to scare the electorate.

I can rebut all the points in this but the main one being the investment in clean energy is not fruitless. In fact we can legislate away pollution and make people feel guilty about driving their Hummer. This is how change has been accomplished throughout history. Guilt is a powerful motivator.

Wasn`t it just yesterday that leesah and some of the other conservatives were complaing right-wing links never get posted? Anyway, I thought at first this was a parody. I mean c`mon..."I’d cut off America’s supply of cheap, abundant energy. I couldn’t take it by force. So, I’d make Americans feel guilty..."
Whose cutting off our supply? Oil production here in the U.S. is at an all time high. Also, this line seems to imply that we SHOULD be taking it by force. Scary.

"I’d make cheap energy expensive" Really? You think you can do that? Lets not forget that when gas was at $4 a gallon during the Bush years, Fox "News" and other conservatives were rushing to his defense stating emphatically that the president doesn`t control energy costs.
"And when it’s cold out, I’d call it Climate Change instea

Propaganda in it`s purest form. Both sides do it, but this is just absurd.

Any reasonable points he might have tried to make are lost in this doom and gloom scenario crap. He`s not trying to win anyone over, just rile up the people who agree with him already.

America is failing because megacorporations own the political process. As part of the perversion of this once great representational democracy, they are pouring billions into propaganda outfits, such as "Free Market America," which are convincing middle class America that unregulated industry has its best interests at heart.

Meanwhile, Obama appoints: A Video Game Czar! That makes 60? 70 appointed Czars he`s put in place? Because the ONE THING the video game industry needs is: The White House Overseeing it.

I agree with most of it. However, too much focus on economics and not enough on the basic concepts of human rights on which economic freedom depends. For that aspect, consult philosopher Ayn Rand.
