Not a bad idea. I would re-enforce the table with a steal frame in case the ceiling collapses. I would like to see the inside.

@5Cats - well, at least many of the responses explain why people freaked out about witches, werewolves, consorting with the devil, etc. Imagine having a storm shelter and all your neighbors decide you are a serial killer...

I talked my dad into putting in a secret passage in his house when he built it. One of the kitchen cupboards has a panel in the back that slides open into a kids` playroom. There`s a ladder in there too that takes you up to another hidden panel in a 2nd floor closet.

I only wish I`d been young enough to really play in it when he finally got it built, but I imagine my younger siblings enjoy(ed) it.

Fraidy-Hole.
Not uncommon in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, etc. (Tornado country)
That, or the guy`s got an underground marijuana farm.
Wouldn`t be the first.

A friend in Oklahoma tells me they call these li`l storm shelters "Fraidy Holes" which is hilarious.

@5Cats I agree. The comments are better than anything else around here lately. I`m pretty sure "fancys_asst" is the shield for the group of people responsible for the mundane drivel lately, and won`t put their own names on it.

Mundane picture draws hilarious commentor responses: why I love IAB!

It`s a partial basement, or crawl space, or root cellar.

I love hidden passages. I don`t care what he`s hiding in there, as long as it`s not bodies... or parts of bodies...

How about a place to cut body parts?

Not concealed well enough to hide criminal activity. (Add in fake shelves, a latch to release a brake on the wheel so the shelf assembly rolls out, and a bunch of kitchen crap on the shelves and then I`ll believe it hides something criminal.)

Still, would love to do something like that in my house. If I ever win a lottery, I am making secret rooms and passages everywhere. Ever since I was a kid and my parent rented a house with a shelf in the entryway that swung out to reveal a hidden closet, I`ve always wanted secret nooks and hidden rooms!
