Interesting thought for he lefties who think this is so great. If a Muslim said he never drank beer, would you criticise him for it? Mormons have the same prohibition on alcohol consumption.

You really need a course in logic. You are taking each statement and reading so much around it that never was there. I find a lot of people, especially on the left but far from exclusively, do that. They take there own views, their own whims and preferences and apply it to something someone else said.

You are saying "I would only have said that if I meant this, this and this other thing as well. Therefore Mitt Romney must have meant those things too". Not facts. Look at what he said. Assess that, not including all the subtext that would have been required for you to say those things. Romney is not you. He is an individual, with different views and different subtext.

I am quite aware of that. I disagree with Romney, but what he said about the poor was reasonable. he was not arguing that the safety nets should be removed, he was in fact implying that they should stay. What is wrong with that?

You are making up the bit about 7. He never said he likes firing people. he said he likes to be able to fire people; the two have no connection whatever.

As I said before, you are making up your interpretation of 13 from whole cloth. It has nothing to do with what Romney said. Saying he doesn`t want to employ illegals as a candidate in no way implies he did want to employ them at any other time. Like in number 7 you are blaming Romney for the bizarre things in your head!

"And there are safety nets. Doesn`t mean I would be unconcerned, but what has that got to do with Romney? "
Romney said BECAUSE there`s safety nets, BECAUSE liberals take care of the poor, he`s not concerned about them. That wasn`t my opinion, it was Romney`s opinion. Since you said the quote was out of context, I added context.

"what`s wrong with 7?"
Anyone who LIKES firing people (in general, I can understand liking to fire a specific person) seems like a complete jerk to me. Like he gets some kind of pleasure out of stripping someone of their livelihood.

"13 shows nothing of the sort. It shows that he recognises that it is more critical to him when he is running for office."
To me it shows that he didn`t care about hiring illegals until he was running for office because he knew he`d get poo about it. It depends on your perspective though.

"I`ve heard number 4 in context ... there`s safety nets set up for them, so he`s not concerned about them"

And there are safety nets. Doesn`t mean I would be unconcerned, but what has that got to do with Romney?

what`s wrong with 7? If you can`t fire people, then you won`t hire people! If they are not doing a good job they should be fired, so someone else get a chance.

13 shows nothing of the sort. It shows that he recognises that it is more critical to him when he is running for office. As a quality manager I recognise that auditing has to be prioritised.

@lillian, committed long term relationship and you can not afford contraceptives. Anal, or oral!

I knew all this, but only because I remember Burns saying them.
But the resemblance is uncanny.

Plus, you said "virgins until they were married", and I`m applying this to married couples as well.

ShudBWorking - "can be" doesn`t mean "will be" or "practical for everyone". It`s not reasonable to expect thousands of people to abstain from sex for years just because they are poor.

@LillianDulci - It can be done. My brother and his wife were virgins when they married at 25. That`s at least 10 years of puberty with no sex, and relationships with others were had before they met.

Pregnancy is easy to avoid. Does the word contraception ring a bell?

At those chains the tend and WILL work you to death. They have 0 allowable sick days and if you have ANY sort of disability and or restricions ie not being able to work at full availability (24/7/365) advancement is almost impossible. Average wage increase is only about 40 cents per year. Starting sallery is usually about $8.00/hr

@WeePee, the phrase is not "all the sudden". It`s "all of a sudden". It might not be difficult to get jobs at retail chains, but the jobs are miserable and you can no longer afford to live off minimum wage if you have to take care of more than one person.

WeePee, pretty easy to avoid if you`re not in a relationship. Expecting people to abstain from sex for years, just because they aren`t doing well financially, regardless of if they`re married or in a committed relationship, is a ridiculous expectation.

lillian, since when is pregnancy something a woman can just all the sudden catch? oh thats right, its pretty easily avoidable. and really, its very easy to get a job at retail chains, ie target, walmart, ect, but none of these desperate unemployed people want to work for minimum wage.

As a dumb kid I wondered what would happen if manufacturing went down the tubes and imports someday ruled the American economy (and Canada`s, too, since we`re pretty well linked). It`s scary to think I was on to something the bigwigs were ignoring. We need to find a product field that the US, with all its skills, resources, and smarts, can dominate and the orient can`t.

@Auburn: We`ve done battle many times, and I know we won`t agree. I have to say if Wal Mart is your solution, then you can never say the phrase "Take Back America." EVER. America, in its prime, was all manufacturing, engineering and, *gasp* union jobs. The fact that since Reagan, we`ve produced less and less, and have become a service based economy is the reason things are so slow to recover. Whenever we invest in our own infrastructure, the value carries over multiple lines. If I repave a road, or build a bridge, all the materials have to be manufactured, rather than sitting in a wal mart with large inventories of clothes from India. That doesn`t serve us.

@Auburnjunky: Walmart jobs and McDonalds` jobs will not get us out of this economic hole. We need some of the millions of jobs that have been sent overseas ever since the Reagan Era`s `Caribbean Basin Initiative`, which destroyed the garment trade in the US for the sake of clothing companies willing to hire people for pennies an hour in Haiti and the DR.

WeePee, because everyone knows it`s super ultra easy to get jobs right now! I mean, we obviously have a surplus of jobs. Employers are hiring constantly and everyone`s qualified for every jobs. Also, birth control is free for everyone! We have universal health care in this great country, obviously ~~^-^~~

randomxnp,

I`ve heard number 4 in context. It`s not much better. He says basically that liberals will take care of the poor and that there`s safety nets set up for them, so he`s not concerned about them.

Number 6 is plain wrong, except that our government recognizes corporations as people, which was one of the stupidest decisions we`ve made.

Number 7 shows that he`s a complete jerk.

Number 13 shows that he only cared about "illegals" working for him because he`s running for office. Not because he thinks hiring "illegals" is wrong or anything.

Yawwwwnnn

More dull tripe.

The only one Romney said that is even slightly off is number 4, and given out of context we cannot possibly judge it. It is easy to come up with context where this is just a bad way of expressing a perfectly correct sentiment.
