The Kony 2012 movement seeks to force the US military to go on a military expedition that will cripple a country in the search of one man.

Sounds familiar...

better than not i`d say. 7 billion political internet activists would hold a bit of sway.

Che was a murderer, and no role model. All those t-shirts with him on them should be burned....

Kony was a problem in the early 2000`s. He used to have thousands of soldiers... now he only has around 250. Local leaders don`t consider him to be a threat anymore. That doesn`t take away from the awfulness of his previous actions... but come on. There are bigger fish to fry.

Also, interfering in local politics can have bad effects. We rush in there, envisioning ourselves as these paragons of western justice, saving the helpless Africans...but if they never develop the means to solve their own problems, they`ll never get out of this hole. We need to help them develop stable systems of solving their own problems.

Finally, telling a bunch of college-age facebook users about a problem isn`t going to help anyone in Africa. It`s just going to lead to a bunch of people speaking passionately about something they don`t actually understand, at all.

@skypirate: Those three white guys are the founders of Invisible Children, and that`s Sudan`s army. It was taken at peace talks at which they thought Kony was going to surrender. They took the picture as a joke.

While I think that this Kony/invisible children issue is a bit more complicated then the video claims, and though I don`t think people should let themselves me so influenced by a video without getting all the facts, there`s absolutely nothing wrong with being enlightened towards an issue and wanting to do something about it. That`s kind of how social activism works...

By this logic no one would take an intrest in anything! No one really new he was and now they do they want to do something about it, whats wrong with that?

Hey, I`ve given regularly to the Canadian Hero Fund for years, I support a child in Africa through a non-profit secular charity, and make token donations to many other charities that ask. I think I do my part, so if my comments take the piss out of people making fun of those who spread a video whose intention was to be spread around in the first place, then maybe it`s you who needs to lighten up.

I don`t understand what the problem with this is.

What I find interesting is that Che Guevara would have executed most of the people that wear t-shirts with his image on them today.

But the ones wearing those shirts are completely unaware of that little fact.

How about you go to Charity Navigator (click me here) and find thousands of charities you can be a part of?!

Also, you have to ask yourself what other ways are you helping and giving back? To watch a video and re-post on facebook and perhaps sign a petition, what are you really doing? Also, there are hundreds of thousands of charities out there to be a part of, you don`t always have to follow what the crowd is doing.

Also, how about participating in a "Make a Difference" vacation CLICK ME AGAIN . And you don`t even have to go further than your own community. How about tutoring some kids for free. Schools on wheels is a great program where you can tutor kids who are living in homeless shelters, who CAN`T go to school.

McGovern1981, I love that pic. I also like to remind people that when the going got tough, Chez ran and hid in the rainforest like the goddam coward he was.

I tell any idiot with a "Chez" shirt that if they want to embrace revolution, put a picture of Castro on it. At least he wasn`t as big of a girly-ass loser as Chez Guevara.

lol, "I`m more of an activist than you" sounds like the status is more important than the cause to some people

Slightly unfair. Not everyone knows about every issue on the planet, and also it`s not possible to be an activist about every problem everywhere. Token support is the most that many people can give, because I have a job and a life and that life doesn`t revolve around every atrocity on the globe.
