I saw a 9am showing on Saturday morning and the place was PACKED. Didn"t read the books--good movie though.

I found watching the cinematic depiction of teenagers(minors, kids, etc)kill each other disturbing. I understand that it is integral to the story, but still.....

@Arcval do some look up before you post and even if it was written before Battle Royale which it wasn`t how does that make anything better. Battle Royale will still be a better movie.

I`m bored now, when is the next tween trilogy coming out?

Incorrect. You fact check fail. Battle Royale was written in 1999. Hunger Games was written in 2008. I read Battle Royale in high school. Hunger games didn`t -exist- until I had graduated college. So unless I`m living backwards like Merlin, I`m pretty sure BR wins the timeline game.

I saw it the other and I thought it was a good film.

FYI: Hunger Games was written quite a while before Battle Royal.

wasnt that bad of a movie...the camera movements pissed me the frig off...10% actually being focused, 50% unfocused and 40% crazy shaking of the camera during fight scenes...not worth seeing it again for me...

@PinkRhoid; I agree about the end. It seemed like she just wanted to wrap up the series because she was bored with writing it. Although, I did like the "real or not real" part at the end.

In what way. I`m no expert or connoisseur but I read 3 or 4 books a month and I liked them fine. Nothing jumped out as being terrible and it was intriguing. The ending was crap imo but that`s it.

If you want to see a movie done way better, watch Battle Royale. I won`t be seeing this Hollywood garbage.

She`s an average looking woman showing as much cleavage as possible. Chill out, IAB.

Also, I`ve heard the books are very poorly written.

My brother said it was overrated, but still okay.

I saw it on release day at a matinee showing on the super screen, best seats.

The shaky cam was sooo annoying but they obviously were trying to keep the PG-13 rating by only alluding to the actual horror of the situation. It was still horribly sad, I swear the whole theater was openly sobbing when Rue went.

Pass. Looks like some emotional garbage mixed with some flash.

It`s more of an adaption of Rollerball (70`s version) and made for young adults. Good though.

But I HATE the shaky cam during the fight scenes. If they want to get across that violence and war is terrible...show it! They did a terrible job showing fear and horror.

@LemonTarte: It`s not a "blatant rip-off" of BR, but there are similarities in the superficial storyline.

Many good, creative works (and nonfiction works) build off works done by others, previously. I don`t have a problem with that - as long as it`s not a rehashing of the same thing (which is usually done poorly). This isn`t one of those.

The film was good - not great. I`ve read the books alongside my niece and they`re decent.

My little sister said it best.

One more thing:
If you want to see action see "Safe House" instead. Saw it the night before "Hunger Games" and really enjoyed it!

Meh, I`m not that into this series. Seems cool, but I`m going to wait before watching. My gf has read all the books, but honestly I`m more interested in season 2 of GoT April 1.

Storyline was kind of weak, but that`s okay. Took a LONG(more than an hour!), boring time setting up the story before getting to any action. Action was okay but pretty predictable. My wife and teenaged daughters liked it, though.

I didn`t read the books. Saw the movie Saturday night. Good enough to make me want to read the trilogy. I`m not 14% of the way through the first book.

Didn`t see it or read the book. I saw Battle Royale years ago and this just seems like a blatant rip-off.
