Yeah i hate the fact that people just finally know about this and what its been going on since the late 80s. I wonder what the people who run invisible children drive.

This guy is an idiot. I support stopping all evil people! Dur, but you have to start somewhere genius!
Point made about the invisible children organization being a moderately less effective charity than other more formal charities. However, he never once said Kony did not do these things, maybe to a lesser degree but he still did horrible things and I take it with a grain of salt that anything I see in any news format suffers from hyperbole.
However to actively take time to say if we can`t stop all evil everywhere then we shouldn`t try and stop this evil is the chant of an infant.

Holding a charity organization accountable for its spending and mission - Excellent

Saying the charity is useless because by necessity it needs to pick sides and it is using the lesser of two evils to squash the greater of two evils so the whole endeavor is useless - Immature World View

If I can use a thief to take out a pedophile guess what....go get him thief.

his argument that the donations went to pay salaries is ignorant on his part. non-profits are 2nd only to religion as cash cow organizations.

I don`t know who`s side to take here. I don`t have enough information.

I can accept however that this Kony guy exists and does use children as soldiers.

... but donating money to stop him is not necessary. This is what modern armies are for... to bring people like this down. Why should I donate a dime to this cause if the US has a trillion-dollar military already capable of doing it hook line and sinker.

You didn`t save anyone any money swiftkeys. You just numbered yourself among those who are alleviating their guilt though means such as this video... ESPECIALLY when it blatantly lies... I heard two stars, and SAW three.

Irresponsible to submit this, even more irresponsible for the mod that posted this to do so.

If you think that awareness is truly a good thing, then you should be glad people like this are trying to make you AWARE of the details of groups like invisible children.

Short of putting your life on hold and getting on a plane to a hostile nation yourself, the best the citizens of the 1st world can do is donate resources (money) to combat problems worldwide. So if a company like Invisible Children spends a majority of their money on marketing and business expenses, where another group might give a higher proportion to direct assistance, you might want to be aware of that before you donate your money.

That being said, Invis Children isn`t that bad, they`re just a small group that doesn`t have all that much money compared to other organizations. For instance, Red Cross is 4/4 on that site, but the CEO makes almost a million a year. So basically, the world isn`t unicorns and puppies.

"This issue needs action and aide, not awareness"... I am not taking sides here, just wondering how one would take action and provide aide on this type of scale without first creating awareness?

You mean people actually got fooled into sending money??

I love how everybody spreading this video is so SELF-RIGHTEOUS. In reality, it`s just an easy way to make yourself feel IMPORTANT and helpful without doing anything. Lucky for you, he`s far away in an exotic place so you can just click "Like" and feel like a political activist. If anybody really gave a poo about kids, they`d go into the inner cities.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Sometimes you have to get into bed with a lesser evil to fight a bigger one.

You have to think, when Kony is dead, who will these organizations go after next? Yup. The lesser evil who used to be allies.

If you want to say a charity has only a 2 out of four star rating then don`t show a screen shot WITH THREE OVERALL STARS ON IT. I`m may have a tendency not to believe anything else you say.

The argument that only ~30% actually goes to helping is weak, because one of the ways they help is by awareness (which = more money and more action) which costs a lot. But, I`ve heard that Kony hasn`t even been seen since 2008 and that he may already be dead, and that killing him isn`t going to stop anything. So I`m torn on the issue.

We know other groups to do lobbying (eg Greenpeace).
It`s their job to spend the money on making films, propaganda...
They may overestimate figures, which their opponents might underestimate... to influence us to put their cause on our priority list.
    That`s what lobbying is about.
    Go to Washington or Brussels.
There you can find thousands of those guys defending a cause for people who pay them, to make it into some politician`s action plan.
I am not able to analyze "invisible children"`s finances and to decide whether it`s good or bad.
But to try to get a government to bring to justice Joseph Kony seems a noble cause to me.

I don`t recall hearing them say they raise money to give to africans. They raise money, and spend it, to raise awareness so the governments will get involved and put a stop to it.

So if the mission is to spend money....Mission Accomplished.

So, what the guy who made this video is trying to say is any money you might have donated went exactly where they said it would go?

They said their one and only goal was to stop Kony. How is donating 2 million to military forces who are hunting Kony not supporting their only stated goal?

    People are stupid.

Invisible Children came to my university last fall. It was mandatory for all freshman, but I got extra credit to go. So, I went.

I saw through their ploy to get my money and I called it a "two hour advertisement".
The most touching part of, what I can assume is their 11th video, was when the featured American died in a bombing in Uganda, or wherever he was in Africa.

If it weren`t for the guy who left in the middle of the presentation, I was the second person out of the building.

My current girlfriend wasn`t as smart. She bought a $25 bracelet that is claimed to be made by a woman in Africa.
Now that`s how they labeled it, but couldn`t help thinking if was a sweatshop.

"They said their one and only goal was to stop Kony. How is donating 2 million to military forces who are hunting Kony not supporting their only stated goal?

    People are stupid. "

Because people are donating money to `save` child soldiers and children being sexually exploited. And the organisation they are donating to is giving the money to people who are raping, looting and using in the pasts (and even perhaps in the present) child soldiers.

    hypocrisy much?
