"One could extrapolate that and make comparisons with how computers work."

Make comparisons = analogy = exactly what is going on here. I wasn`t saying the actual science behind this was an analogy, but comparing the science to computers is an analogy. And then thinking we`re in the matrix based on that analogy is bogus.

Mike Tyson discussed string theory?

Well definitely this is not the definitive proof for it but yeah, all this is just a simulation created for us to experience with a very specific purpose. Just only one of innumerable universes
It`s really just an analogy at the moment, saying we live in the matrix or are sims is a major leap.
-------------
It`s more than just an analogy. It is indeed a theory with evidence in the natural world that it`s true. Take for instance the quantum realization that it`s not really there unless it`s being viewed. One could extrapolate that and make comparisons with how computers work.

the sims theory would also shore up one of the few unknowns with the big bang theory... where everything came from

and yes that was Tyson.

My bet is that when we better understand this phenomena, differences between it and computers will start to show up to where we`ll start to realize comparisons between between this and computers start to fall apart completely. It`s really just an analogy at the moment, saying we live in the matrix or are sims is a major leap.

Keep in mind you can compare a Genome to a book, but the more you know about genetics the more you know this analogy falls apart.

Look at the related videos, this guy is legit.

My first thought was "wouldn`t it be hilarious if we were all programs in the matrix (and didn`t know it) who made movies about people being programs in the matrix (and didn`t know it)?"

This kinda sounds like something I`d hear about on coast-to-coast AM.
This is a theory that`s been around for years. There are theoretical physicists that think we are SIMS in a computer program. It`s not that far fetched. One day we will have computer generated characters that are self aware. Who`s to say for sure that`s not what we are?
Keep in mind though that the majority of the video is not about the Sim theory. It`s about a block of code that as far as we know shouldn`t exist naturally and serves to ensure accurate transmissions of data. This discovery just adds another factor that lends to the possibility of the sim theory.

Considering the mathematical structure of the universe I find it just as likely that the universe already uses things we think we discovered when we in fact stumbled upon an existing function of natural mathematics. None the less it`s amazing to think that we may be taking steps to fully understand our universe.
Seriously, noone has called April Fools on this yet?
It was posted March21, recorded earlier than that, and can be rsearched. So no, no one is calling April Fools except for Fools! :P

That is absolutely mind blowing. I`m not going to dismiss the video just because of the use of music, but I will rely on that if this is as important as it suggests, the findings will propagate in more studies. If the scientific community dismisses this, then I will too, but until then, it`s... possible.

To all the people saying it`s just binary blah blah blah.... You apparently weren`t listening very closely. It`s a specific type of Binary that is used to correct mistakes made when data is being transferred from one computer to another. I`m not saying it`s true or anything but listen before you troll.

@tiredofnicks it a posted yesterday and it is an actual theory.

Crap. Well, I just hope who ever is running the computer keeps the fans clean and doesn`t open any email attachments from untrustworthy sources.

although...a computer virus would explain Republicans and Religious Zealots.

I`ve had experiences that left me feeling that I was a simulation. Can`t put it into words, and the parts I could would only get me sighs and people calling me a "drugged out hippie".

One would suspect that if there is one mathematical model which describes interactions in nature that there would be "mechanisms" in place to "insure" its stability. No need for hyperbole or anthropomorphism, or magical thinking. I`m not even an atheist and I`m against this silliness.

First off, string theory is in fact "Theory". That`s not to say that there is no validity to it whatsoever, but the simply fact remains that a theory, in its basic element, is really nothing more than a man-made attempted explanation for the way things are. These theories are derived using mathematical equations, and are often later explained using mathematical equations. These mathematical equations are utilize the same known math that computer programmers use daily, so there is no wonder that there would be similarities between the equations used in string theory, and the equations used for computers.

@gerry
like he said, they didn`t find random 1`s and 0`s, they found very specific lines of 1`s and 0`s

That video almost instantly bored me to tears. So what was the conclusion? We all live in the matrix?

For those who didn`t watch the whole thing:

5:20-5:30

It is not just any code; they are a specific type of codes called "Block Linear Self Dual Error Correcting Codes." An example of one of these is the "Shannon Extended Check Sum Code"

Whatever the heck that means.

And, the real science with Frederick Douglass ends at 6:30, then the person who made the video threw on some hippie nonsense at the end that undermines the scientific credibility.

Well it simply is.. because something is discovered is to know it has always been possible, is , was, or could be. If it werent would we know the universe in any other way? of course, mankind is far too willing to accept a partial scope of reality as a complete or wholesome answer for "why or why is". Well because it simply is.
we are therefore it was.

Outer Limits bugged me so I didn`t watch it all.
How did it turn out? Can they put that code in a computer? No? Well then, it`s not a "computer" code, is it, just binary. Um... just a guess, but since everything has a positive or negative charge... I mean, is that a `code` or just electrons doing their groovy thing?

Haha, when I was little, I used to see these weird blue or red lines in the air at night that kind of looked like security lasers in a movie or when they show people going into a computer on TV, so I`ve always had the sneaking suspicion that the universe was actually a advanced being`s version of the Sims. Not that this video proves anything.

Not really considering that we ourselves are making leaps and bounds into simulating reality.

Sorry, I was put off from the very beginning with the "Outer Limits" audio. I`m a "Twilight Zone" fan, so naturally Rod Serling wins everything.
