This music is the reason I bought my wife a MP3 player, I was slowly losing my mind, she`s dancing and citing every band in this compilation I just want to turn it off. So thanks Gerry... at least she`s happy

    Great compilation!

Not everything on here is a one-hit wonder, though. (Not Gerry`s fault, obviously.) For example, Modern English hit #93 with Hands Across the Sea in 1984, so I Melt With You (which hit #78) was not their only hit.

On a side note, does anyone remember an 80s/early-90s music video that had a woman and her backing band playing with paint in a studio. I think they were throwing it around. For some reason, I think it was Siouxsie and the Banshees but I can`t seem to find it.

Why did you do this gerry... FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY..... WHAYYYYYYYY??? *sobbing,he walks to the door grabs the handle and turns it. he walks down the hallway to the front door recaping his life in his head, thinking of all the good times he had with music in his life. "it couldn`t be that bad?" at that moment he remembers it`s raining men and pulls out tissues to sob ever so slowly...with a quarter turn to the right the door slowly opens and there is his new pride and joy, his 100cc ride on lawnmower. he walks up to it murmering to himself "all the good times we could have had.Damn you gerry, Damn you" with a swift movement he grabs his keys from his pocket and inserts them into the ignition. Pressing a button the lamn mover gives a smokey chug and puff, it starts. He grabs his trusty bungee cord from the back and turning the steering rod furthest to the right he fixes it in place. Flicking the mower into first gear he lays down on the grass. "if onl

Just been listening to c30, c60, c90 Go by Bow Wow Wow.

Also please bear in mind that chart sucess does not equal musical quality.
As an example Sonic Youth have never had a hit record.

Smaus: Sorry, those were all 1980s tunes there. Many have been sampled from by other artists since then.

The 80`s was the best decade for music, back when MTV actually had music videos.

I never claimed they weren`t `80`s tunes, I was only referring to snuffy`s 90`s anime warp jib with the dates of my avatar and link, I guess I could`ve put this as my link, she thinks this is headache juice too... it`s hard to coney sarcasm via text with my retort to the anime warp "joke"

5Cats: Yeah I noticed that as well. a few of those bands had other hits. Btw, I`ve actually seen an original PacMan game go half-screen and seize up before, after the 9th key it doesn`t get any harder.

vv lolz @Crackr! I worked in a video arcade in the 80s, I was a video game junkie! Only game I was `best` at was Millipede (the follow-up to the very famous Centepede, eh?) otherwise I wasn`t exactly a pinball wizard.

One guy played PacMan for 9 hours in one game, maxed the score iirc... but yeah, it was the exact same pattern after a certain point.

people that play their own instruments, sing their own songs, produce? Youre going to have to clarify.

5Cats: I was an arcade junkie as well, set a record score at my arcade for Yie Ar Kung-Fu PErfect first run
The third run through gets extremely fast, makes it much harder to get perfect scores.

I showed this to my wife, and all day yesterday, and whats looking like all day today she`s been listening to all eighties weekend on the radio and proving to me she know everything about `80`s pop music by telling me each artist they play... Never in my life have I contemplated piercing my eardrums so much in a weekend

Man, that is embarrassing for us in our 40`s. Have to take exception to Big Country and Devo being characterized as one-hit wonders; I`ve got at least 3 of each of their songs on my iPod.
