For unknown reasons, I can see "delete post" under other people`s avatars, weird eh?

Not going to test it though.

Yep, I had that before and YES I have tried hitting the delete button. It does nothing...

Although, you being someone with ZERO submissions wouldn`t know about that, right? You`d rather just sit back and relax while other I-A-B readers submit and get their headlines stolen.

I used to get that occasionally before I was a mod, it`s just one in a list of forum bugs here. Don`t worry, nothing will happen if you do click it :P

@Patchouly that would make for some very long and ugly link descriptions. Think about how many complain about descriptions now and then add url gibberish to it. Madness

Glad to see someone thinking though

Fancy, unless you copyright the captions, it`s not plagiarism, as far as I`m concerned.

If I submit artwork that I, myself, made to IAB and it got hi-jacked to Break.com or IDont`tReallyGiveAdrat.com I would be pissed. But if I submit it, they credit IAB, or a personal site, or whatever, they can copy the description word for word.

Now considering IAB has user generated material coming from the World Wide Web, worrying about a word for word copy of a description is just asinine and petty.

So does this mean Break has all the best stuff on IAB and none of the junk, plus the best stuff on all the other sites?

Don`t worry, I`m not leaving, we still have too many Christian conservatives left to convert.

i`ve always come here mostly for the commentary of other users. i never expected original content. nothing on the internets is original anymore. if i wanted purely original content, i`d go outside and watch life unfold instead of reading about it here.
.....never understood why people (who remain frequent users and commenters) chew on IAB or any other similar forum site for this. why not just leave if it`s so irritating to you?

I was gonna leave outta this but.......Yeeaaahhhhh

Are you seriously telling your site, Fancy, that the caption "10 More photos of somewhat awkward randomness" Is not pulled DIRECTLY from cherryplucker? I mean, am I missing something here?

That type of caption pulling is exactly what you are complaining about. So if its ok for you, then what is the problem?

Ive been coming to poo site quite a while now, ive seen alot of crap happen here, but this is one of the worst. To complain about your authority, when you have clearly handed that off, is equally atrocious.

So can we quit this and go back to quietly pulling captions and compilations from other sites just like they are doing this one?

You don`t see how it`s direct plagiarism? What do you call word-for-word duplication? I`m not talking about copyright infringement of a trademarked word or phrase.

This is what it boils down to. I`m doing some a$$hole`s work for him. He`s coming to I-A-B, taking a piece of content that`s already proved to get a lot of page views here and taking the image (which I don`t care about) AND taking an exact description of said image.

What isn`t there to get here?

lol. Point accepted, although in the land of pirates trying to stop piracy is like screaming up at a waterfall to stop it from coming down. All you really do is get wet.

However if they start bad mouthing our boreders then I`m certain we will rally and storm their website and start a good ole site war, but to be fair it never hurts to say to the lazy tards at break:

Fancy, you`re right at being indignant that Break did this.

But I bitched not too long ago that it was pretty obvious that mods were jacking submissions from users headline, caption and all.

I just stopped submitting content I see elsewhere, figuring that anything I see elsewhere will eventually end up here anyway, so why be another middleman in a sea of middlemen and get be frustrated when it looks like a submission got jacked? (although, I thought that the video of the spectacular failure of that home-built ground-effect aircraft we tried to build last summer would have been a sure thing.)

For the record, I don`t go to Break.com because it`s aimed at the intellectual level of an 11 year old boy.

I understand the complaint but...

I-A-B: Stop SOPA/PIPA/ACTA it will harm us!
*Several weeks later*
I-A-B: Stop infringing on copyrights!

...

Okay so it isn`t like that, but I don`t see this as direct plagiarism. The captions are changed moderately, or from what I`ve seen, but unless the pictures in question are directly owned by I-A-B or one of its submitters, I don`t see the problem.

If people could copyright phrases, Donald Trump would sue anyone who used the phrase "You`re fired!"

But whatever, I don`t really care.

RPossum: I care because it`s f*cking lazy and really, how hard is it to write your own headline? You`ve already come to I-A-B, right-clicked and saved the image and text. Just take the extra f*cking step and write a new headline.

I know the people that are doing it are probably just low-level content editors getting paid by each post, but I`m also sure they have a managing editor or some sort of boss over there. It`s embarrassing--or at least it should be.

You think J-Dog would let me plagiarize from other sites? No, I`d get fired. Most people would.

I agree with tedgp. I have submitted crap and get the reject letter. I have searched and not found what I attempted to submit. In the last few weeks I submitted a few things and haven`t even gotten the e-mail of rejection anymore. Then you get a "10 photos_ submission from Eugenius to a site that can`t connect or sime pics never load. Oh, and the BAN that comes and goes when the "alcholic behind the wheel" remembers to post it. What happened to the member letter submission posts? What about the, better, 10 things off Fancy`s hard drive? And stop giving the poo excuses for the word filter. That can be changed. This site is not just for bored, it`s a dwelling for the lazy.

I have a question Fancy...
Why do you care? I come here for the forums and the comments.
I always found break to be full of ignorant jerks and their comments weren`t worth logging in to comment on. Plus they focus more on people hurting themselves and playing pranks than the wider range of scientific discovery, religious and political discourse we find here...plus people playing pranks and hurting themselves.

We have often had similar content to them but really the captions don`t mean a lot in the grand scheme of things. I don`t come here for the captions, as witty as they are.

fancylad, I did not say anything similar to that. Merely that there are many instances of direct copying from imgur days after the image is uploaded there. You may want to read a little more carefully next time. I did mention that a lot of that content originated on imgur, but that is not an outrageous claim.

fancylad, I know very well what it means. I am saying that I`ve seen tons of images uploaded here that were taken from imgur, where the content originated, and posted here, with the same exact caption they had on imgur. I think that coincides with your definition. Same thing with youtube. video is posted with one of the top comments as the I-A-B caption. It`s the internet, it happens everywhere. It`s hard to complain about when it`s so commonplace that it`s riddled everywhere throughout your own site.

this site was never about original material, this and all those other sites are for sharing material with others that you have found that you think they would be interested in, otherwise in order to find these things we would all have to comb the entire internet

Fancy`s issue is with their blatant theft of how the material is presented, the titles and captions are just ripped off of IAB and put onto Break.
