This case is no doubt a tragedy but the news media is sensationalizing it and misconstruing the facts so much that it`s getting everyone whipped into a frenzy just so we will turn on the TV and give them ratings.

This young man is six foot three. The media is showing us a four year old photo of him when he was a child to prey on our emotions. He was beating the living hell out of Zimmerman. He shot in self defense. He did not pursue this young man and want to shoot him.

Where is the media frenzy about the 13 year old white kid in Kansas City who was doused in gasoline and lit on fire because he WAS white?

@Satkela: He says he shot hijm in "self defense" which is not NOT murder, plain and simple.
IF it is proven that was not the case? Then Zimmerman IS guilty, case closed.
Proven, not "I feel" or "I think" ok?

Vick ran a dogfighting (illegal) ring and tortured dogs to DEATH FOR FUN (also illegal). The two cases are not even remotely associated, except perhaps that Woopie Goldberg thought Vick was "just being a Black Man" and should have been let off...

A picture I thought was of Trayvon apparently is not, my mistake!

@5Cats: He IS guilty!! He admitted to shooting the boy! He continued to pursue him even though the police dispatcher told him to stay put! If I shot an unarmed person that was just strolling in the neighborhood suspect or not I would be sitting in jail right now awaiting trial!

There have been cases where people have been imprisoned for less, hell even Michael Vick got jail time for endangering dogs. Do dogs deserve more justice than human beings?

Yeah and I don`t agree with those knuckleheads, I don`t think race needs to be brought up to question Zimmermans motives and actions. I do think the media and others have spun this situation, but that is what happens when a police force does not do a proper investigation and tries to sweep a situation under the rug and then it becomes national news.

Otto: Obviously you haven`t been listening to the violent rhetoric that Al Sharpton, Louis Farakhan, Jesse Jackson, and others have been spewing lately.

They want `justice`, justice in their eyes is Zimmerman dead, anything less and they are prepared to start riots, That`s their words.

It`s disgusting and completely against what justice in America really is. The media has spun this crap into a tornado and it`s hellbent on destruction and suffering.

Crakr quit acting like Zimmerman was just asking a question, he was armed and ready for a showdown with what he thought was an armed, drugged up criminal. You complain that people want to lynch Zimmerman when most people just want this properly investigated.

Not me. What I do ask is that he be tried and that a jury of his peers be allowed to decide whether he acted in malice or out of self-defense. The system is not perfect, but I will abide by that system`s decision.

Trayvon had a lot of choices that night, the fact that he was serving a 5 day out-of-school suspension shows that Martin had recently had a problem with making good decisions.

Trayvon shouldn`t have to behave in any specific way when a crazy person confronts him.

Also: the GF said Martin refused to `run home`. Somehow that never enters the picture, eh?
Per-flame rebuttal: No I am NOT suggesting that black youths (even if they`re 6`2") should run away from "whites" (he is Latino). BUT you seem to suggest that Martin did every single thing in his power to avoid confrontation. I disagree.

One more time: Did you not hear the words "Flux Capacitor" in this critical social news document?

Do yee all not see a problem in this?

There is six feet of dirt to lay our souls...then there is CNN broadcasting their rubbish point of view...that becomes pointless when you throw in the "Flux Capacitor". It is pure humour from something that has no humour in it. Turn your TV`s off folks...it is a 24 hour feed of McDonalds for your brain.

I feel bad about the whole deal, its all bad but...

"Actually Zimmerman was going to college for a law enforcement degree"

I took plenty of classes with "wannabe cops" pursuing law enforcment degrees, too many of them were of the `shoot first, ask questions later` variety. I am guessing most of them didn`t make it past the psych evals.....hmmmm, sounds like Zimmerman.

Let`s just skip all the racist talk, the fact remains that a 17 year old unarmed boy was gunned down by a self appointed "neighborhood watchman" who was told by the police to stay where he was and let them do their job. Because of that pricks unnecessary vigilante actions an innocent boy lost his life. People have been thrown in jail for lesser crimes, what makes George Zimmerman so special that he is exempt from killing a innocent boy?

@FoolsPrussia: That counts as a "conviction"? Um, not?

@QueenZira: True, intent IS a factor in murder. Personally, I don`t care if someone wants to kill me because I`m white, or if it`s because I`m so darn handsom! I believe "hate laws" are just a shortcut for "liberal" interpretation of the law.

Heck, in Canada Judges are REQUIRED to rule based on the skin colour of the criminal! So a white man and a native man (in Canada) both conspire to murder someone. The white man gets 25 years (max). The native? 12. It happens ALL the time.

We already prosecute people for motive though, if we didn`t we`d have no way to differentiate between Manslaughter and Murder III. There`s a big difference between, "Oops I just backed over old man Jenkins," and "I plotted before hand to kill old man Jenkins and I did it in an unspeakably heinous way."

This is not "thought crime," it`s the normal way our legal system operates.

@QueenZira - I do understand that, but my point is that if you remove the "hate" from it these are still crimes. Making terrorist threats is a crime whether it`s against a specific race or random people. I don`t feel that we need a special category for these crimes. In my opinion it gets into the territory of policing peoples thoughts. And let me be clear I come from a multi-ethnic family and have several gay friends whom I love very much. I have been the target of racists and homophobes in my life.
In my mind racism is not relevant to a crime committed. What matters is that a crime is committed and that is what people should be prosecuted for. I don`t think any penalty should be dependent on race or sexual orientation etc of a victim. Criminals should be punished equally, murdering someone because of race is just as bad as murdering them to steal their wallet. Punishing people additionally for their thoughts or motivations is a dangerous precedent in my opinion.

Gosh @ClockWork, why would you say that about yourself? You`re a hate-filled leftist freakshow, calling the coffee black is not an option.

@QueenZira: They need the "hate crime" angle because currently there is NO actual evidence that Zimmerman broke any law(s).
See, hate crime doesn`t even require illegal actions, it in and of itself is enough! And is 100% subjective, meaning it`s is impossible to defend against. He`s Latino, has Black family members, has absolutely NO history of racial bias. Obviously, race is the ONLY thing involved here!

Does it really make any difference to what he did. The results are the same either way. Is he going to get off if he isn`t racist? Not likely, so what difference does it really make. I don`t care what someone says while committing a crime, I just care that they did it, period.

And anyone who denies a racial influence in this case is either not well informed or intently stopping up their ears. Astute students of social science know very well the phenomena of the "Scary Black Man". He may be entirely harmless, but his color makes others suspicious. Women clutch their purses closer when he walks by, people cross the street to avoid passing him, and cops are more likely to treat him...differently because of the color of his skin. Racial profiling is a real thing, it`s a real problem, and we should all be concerned about it.

There`s no way that our trolls would actually be dumb enough to sincerely mean the things they say. They couldn`t possibly make it to adulthood. They`d swallow their tongues, or be beaten to death by the time they reached third grade. Nobody would ever employ them. They wouldn`t be able to manage an income, state or otherwise, well enough to pay an internet bill.

I just don`t buy it. Please, tell me they are just made up for ratings (clicks).

For the benefit of enjin- a Hate Crime is just that, a *Crime* motivated by Hate. It is not a crime to say racist things, no, but the minute that Joe stops saying and starts *doing* yes it becomes an interest to law enforcement. A Hate Crime is especially heinous because it`s target is not just one victim, but the victim`s whole social category as well, "If you look like this/are this- You`re Gonna Be Next" is the message being sent here. It`s meant to terrorize and that is what makes it different from an ordinary crime.

As much as I despise racism I think laws regarding "hate crime" are BS. A crime is a crime regardless of what motivates a person. It`s not illegal to be a racist or say racist things (yet) in the US. If I`m not willing to support the rights of idiots to be racists then freedom of speech means nothing. And no one has ever been convicted for thinking something. If the guy wrongfully killed someone then throw the book at him.
The racial angle on this is nothing but a money making opportunity for the media and just like 90% of the "news" it just annoys the sh/it outa me.

Makes no difference.

Zimmerman got out of his car to confront what he thought was a drugged up armed criminal and he had no training to deal with that type of situation AND he knew cops were on the way, he wanted a confrontation and expected it to be violent.

Anyone that`s watched any of the `Ghost` shows on TV has heard how suggestion can influence what you think you hear. Also, condenser mics are notorious for picking up audio artifacts.

Btw, Zimmerman is not `white` he`s hispanic, mostly, but comes from a multiracial family.

Whatever it is it`s not definitive and may not have even been said at all.

As someone who thinks Zimmerman acted out of line here and should probably be held responsible for Trayvon`s death, I`m bothered by the way the racial aspect is being promoted. I don`t hear "coons." I hear "punks." So far, the only way I see that race might be involved is in Zimmerman`s (conscious or unconscious) profiling of Trayvon, but that`s not necessarily enough for a hate crime.

I think this is was race motivated crime whether or not that word was used, but honestly it sounds like "toads."
The first phoneme could be a "T" or a "K" if you listen closely. A "T" is formed in the front of the mouth, however, on the alveolar ridge. A "K" is formed in the back of mouth with the tongue and "soft palate." A "K" is a hard sound to transmit into a microphone at the same volume as the rest of the sound, and yet the first phoneme of this word is just as loud as the rest of the word.
If you listen to the vowel it`s a diphthong "Oh," not a pure vowel "U," but either can have the length that we hear in the recording.
Also, an "N" is called a "nasal continuant," because the sound travels out of the nose and you can hold it for as long as you have breath, whereas a "D" is a stop-plosive just like "T" and "K" and is by definiti

Plus he was out of breath, try breathing in deep and saying f**king punks like you are out of breath, the beginning of the word sound a lot harder and like a Ka sound.
