Did An I-A-B Reader Call Out Kevin Smith? [Pic]

Submitted by: Trillian42 4 years ago Misc

Or is Trillian42 a jerk for thinking of putting him on the spot like this? Your move, Mr. Smith.

I`ve been crazy busy with work the past couple of weeks, so I fell behind here...

1. Trillian42: That`s great news!

2. You don`t have to prove anything. Glad it`s worked out for you this way.

I`d be happy to give OA my name so he can still call and get proof. Or, hell, the mods know it, they can certainly verify it anytime they like. Thank everyone (who gave them) for their kind words and round thoughts - we`re celebrating! As for you, Dray, you can count the drats I give about what you think on no fingers.

That`s good news about your baby.

Now you won`t have to provide evidence as well.

Just got back from her scan. She showed much more improvement than anyone expected and we now think that she will not need the orthotic after all, just continued Occupational Therapy, which IS covered. Thank you all for your warm wishes and thanks especially to OsirisAscend, you`re still my favorite IABer.

Just heard back from Fancy:
"I`ve been trying to track his email account down, but I can`t find it in our database. If you can tell him to email me at [email protected], I`ll get it to you as soon as possible."

They wrote me on Tuesday promising to send me your email that afternoon, but I haven`t heard back. I`ve written them several times since, but have received no response. She goes in for her scan again tomorrow and then they`ll be expecting us to make a decision. I have been in touch with them and they say that ALL treatment, scans and refitting and all, will come to exactly $2,050 (they must have rounded down to us before, but hell, $50 I DO have).
You can contact them at (210)615-7827(STAR)
Here is the website so you can verify that it`s really their office number.

I wish the mods would put us in touch though, as I hesitate to post my daughter`s name here in the public forum.
Can you think of another way to get in touch w/o inviting harassment by other not so nice iabers?
Thank you again Osiris,
Trillian

Does the price include the scan, and any other diagnostic that need to be done, or is the $2K solely for the remolding orthotic?

Sorry... crazy week and this thread is buried a few pages in now.

If you`re really in a situation, where your CHURCH or no one else is going to help you, I will.

You`ve GOT to figure out some way to let me know that you`re completely legit.

I trust Fancy, davymid, and madest. Davy and madest have my personal e-mail address (the one I actually read).

I`ll do a little research myself this week.

I`m a sonofabitch, not a troll.

@osirisascend

Not sure if genuine and thus a wonderful human being - the type that would really do something like that for someone that clearly rubs them the wrong way, or if embarking on the most evil troll ever trolled, lol.

If you are serious, I`m not too proud to get my baby the help she needs, but decoration is unnecessary; they`re pink - that`s fine. I have the latest set of measurements and go into get a new set in two weeks. The company that makes the helmets is called StarbandStarband Kids... I could have them fax a chart I suppose. If you are serious, then I`d be eternally in your debt. My baby`s health is worth so much more to me than... well, ALL THE MONEY, which really sucks, b/c I don`t have it to give.

Trillian...

Your tone aggravated me the other day.

Regardless of my personal opinion, the innocent should never suffer. (You should be getting ANYTHING your child needs for their health at an affordable price. Period.)

If you`re NOT trolling, your child really needs a $2000 helmet, and your church will not help you, I will purchase it for you.

That`s right.

I`ll pay for the whole thing, as long as you provide me with some sort of verification that your claim is valid, whatever measurements are necessary to acquire the proper fit and level of safety, and a list of companies that manufacture what you need.

I don`t want any advertising on it either. Instead, I`ll throw in a few extra bucks, and you can find someone to airbrush some sort of cool design on it.

Good God, people don`t know how to take a joke.
I`m sure you know him. Okay.
Thanks, but I didn`t ask you for anything.
I was never going to ruin his rep. lawl. It was a joke about how I was putting him on the spot.
Jersey Girl was a quality flick, just because it doesn`t have Jay & Bob in it is no reason to hate. No I`m not gonna waste my time writing my own rant. I have a job - I`m a wife and mother to two. I`d get another, but the daycare costs would negate it. TYVM

"I withdraw my offer of assistance"

I would have donated, given evidence that she was legit, but now I can think of people far more deserving of charity. People without such a feeling of self-entitlement.

Tril, you call yourself politically conservative and a Christian by religion, yet you demand handouts and show nothing but resentment, anger and fall far short of so-called Christian spirit. Get a job, make some personal sacrifices and treat others with more charity and you may see some of the same in return.

Um...

Trillian... I actually know the celebrity in question. (Seriously!!!) He`s a nice guy. He has people approach him with requests for assistance regularly.

Your way of going about it makes you look like an ass. I seriously doubt he`ll respond to what amounts to blackmail.

YOU`RE going to ruin his reputation?

If he could survive "Jersey Girl", you`re not even on his radar.

And since you told me and so many others here what you think of us, I withdraw my offer of assistance, and suspect that since "All you motherdraters are gonna pay" (couldn`t come up with your own original rant?), several others will follow suit.

You really need to learn some manners. This is NOT how you ask strangers for help.

Last but not least: To anyone who said nice things, thank you very much; you`re very sweet. To everyone else: "All you motherdraters are gonna pay, You are the ones who are the ball-lickers. We`re gonna drat your mothers while you watch and cry like little bitches. Once we get to Hollywood and find those Miramax drats who are making that movie, we`re gonna make `em eat our poo, then poo out our poo, then eat their poo which is made up of our poo that we made `em eat. Then you`re all drating next.

Love,

Jay and Silent Bob"

@CrackrJack: I like that; I might have to do that any way.
@Yeahhhhh: it got changed to "Did an IAB Reader..." by the Mods.
@kitteh: No one at church has donated yet, because I actually haven`t asked for anything.
@ladycrofth: You`re absolutely right. But I wouldn`t mind that. The point most every one missed was that my aim was mostly just to have something to say during the Q&A portion of the evening. Which didn`t even happen. There was no Q&A - they just did their podcast. It was funny.

Trillian: I have to agree with many posters here, you could`ve been much nicer in your request.

Anyways, I hope your kid gets the help it needs. Wish I could afford to donate, if only to get an `abide` sticker on it. Prayers headed your family`s way.

I thought IAB had a rule about posting one`s own content/ads. If you lied on your form, I`d expect people to be cautious about giving money to you. Sorry to be sceptical, but soliciting donations for medical reasons is a common deception. If you do ask IABers to help you out, I recommend you provide definitive proof, the quotation, some indication that your insurance has turned you down and a way for us to be sure that it`s spent on the device.

wtf is $2 grand and why are you posting "An I-A-B Reader..." when two sentences later you put it was you? Why aren`t you giving yourself credit in the link? I will be really surprised if Kevin Smith answers this, btw this is also kind of a dick approach to getting money.

Trillian42, The question I asked was if your church was helping by raising funds for your son`s helmet, not why you capitalized the word church. I would hope that since you and your son were members they would be charitable and donate or at least have a fund raiser for you. Have you approached your church for assistance?

That isn`t fair.

I`m sure Mr. Smith (being more corporation than individual) makes generous charitable contributions to well known organizations.

For an individual to call him out like this is unjust. He simply doesn`t have time or resources to entertain all request such as this. Picking and choosing from them would itself be unfair.

"I figured it`d actually be more appropriate to be funny, even if it`s at his expense."

I am assuming that you`ve seen his shows before, and if you think that this would end at his expense then you`re a fool. He would find a way to destroy you in-front of the crowd like he does to everyone else. Good-luck

Wow. That took balls. If you sent that to me, I`d make a donation to the charity that hands these out,but not to you. I would tell you where you could apply to that charity. Blackmail never ends well.Never. Good luck to your kid if this is going to be the way you raise it.
Also, I hope your kid gets the helmet somehow. No reason for the child to suffer for someone else`s bad idea.

Kind of a douchey way to go about it Trillian.

You know... if you had asked IAB for help, I would have kicked in, and I think that others here would have too.

Yes, IAB has it`s fair share of assh*les and trolls, but there are enough decent people here that would have heard your plea and responded.

Calling out a celebrity, begging him for money then saying he`s a dick if he doesn`t help you makes YOU the jerk.

I hope you`re trolling.

If you`re not, then I have to say you need to learn some manners.

You better hope he doesn`t see this on a bad day.

At Dr. Professor:
Under normal circumstances I`m with you on the humble and unassuming, but since it`d be worked into a portion of the show where he fields questions and tells joke/anecdotes, I figured it`d actually be more appropriate to be funny, even if it`s at his expense.

Background: I`m going to an event where he`ll be fielding questions this evening and have neen racking my brain to come up with a question for him. The deal is to be done in person and tongue in cheek. The calling out bits are a joke. I don`t honestly expect money, not that I`d turn any down. And no I truly don`t know what the smallest amount I`d accept for putting Walt Flannigan`s head is. Thank you Slutt Etta for understanding my motivations, but the truth is, I`m a terrible public speaker and probably don`t have the balls to do this, but I`ll come back tomorrow to tell how how it develops and you can at least hear how the show was. Oh and they used to be covered by medicaid, until they decided in February, that it`s a cosmetic issue - which is total drating bullpoo.
