fun fact, cats are more likely to survive a fall from nine of more stories high because they have time to correct themselves.

TL;DR version - a cat is more likely to survive a fall from 9+ stories than 8- stories.

The terminal velocity of a falling cat is not life threatening to him, a cat can fall from any height and survive. Falling from a short height is in fact way more dangerous tho them since they don`t have the time to prepare for the landing.
And yes, I don`t speak english so the above text might be plagued with errors.

Cats can survive falls of 30 - 40 floors, but don`t always and are generally badly injured in the process (i.e. would not survive without medical treatment). The ones who don`t make it don`t make the news.

people can survive being shot in the head. Mostly not.

    True @TKD_Master, strange eh?

    True @Gerry1, nice .gif.

@chocolatex Your English was excellent and what you`re saying is true. Cats are `stiff` for a short time, then relax and spread their legs out as they fall.

My kitty used to fall out a window some 15 feet to the grass, she was always OK. (luckily!)

Nice picture of Rocky The Flying Squirrel!

Cats are more injured in 2-5 floor jumps than 7+ due to terminal velocity. Even if the cat jumps from a plane he will open his legs forming a parachute and reach a certain terminal velocity and adjust the landing to match such speed.
