So I rescued a pom/sheltie mix (Toby) that I got from the shelter. The poor puppy (okay, he`s not a puppy) now has cataracts and can`t see. $5,000 per eye. One eye will be good though. Really, true story. It`s heartbreaking. I`m not joking.

NSFW if openly sobbing at your work is frowned upon. Jeeeebus that was a tear-jerker.

Hate to say it, but dogs like that in the street are common as hell in many areas of this country and almost 100% of them get euthanized. This one had a good personality and was cute as hell, plus somebody with a hell of a lot of personal money decided to make it a symbol of their organization, so it`s a damn lucky dog in the end.

Never fails to impress me how dogs when provided with basic needs just embrace life. One eye, no problem. Missing leg, who needs it. Love doggies.

GUESS WHAT! For only $2500 you can cure blindness in a street dog with cataract surgery.

Or for that same $2500 you can cure blindness in ONE HUNDRED HUMAN CHILDREN or ADULTS.

So I you can cure 1 street dog, or 100 humans.
    Put that is `perspective`

Someone posted below that it cost $5,000 PER EYE ($10,000 total) for their dogs cataract surgery.
So really, for $10,000 you could cure blindness in 400 people for the same amount of money!

At my grooming salon, we work we work close with the local adoption site, giving out haircuts to dogs who are terribly matted and in bad health. We see stuff like this all the time, but they look so happy when they are finally cleaned up and free of mats.

My Pug was diagnosed as completely blind in one eye with only 10% vision in the other eye. It never bothered her. In fact, she was the best damn bug hunter that ever lived. RIP Julie!
