still waiting on everything else though
Like the map that keeps track of the car`s destination? :)

These films are fun to watch. How they thought we`d be living in the 21st century from a mid 20th century point of view...after the economic boom of WWII. "We can only go up from here!"

Problem is, the two biggest things that drive the economy are porn and sports. If the invention isn`t useful to either industry, it will likely fail. Look at HDTV and 3D TV for example. Much better to watch porn and sports.

This is basically just propaganda for highway building. We can barely afford to merely REPAIR the highways they built when this film was made, nevermind replace them with super magic roads.

The funny thing is that the father is in the front seat, making all the "choices", while the wife is doing all the lame stuff and hanging out with the kids. Guess they didn`t get that one right.

Also the idea of a combined ambulance/police unit is incredibly stupid - even for the 50`s: police wasting time on a scene of a heart attack? How efficient would that be :-p

Destroy more nature for more roads!!! People before conservation!! *im not a nature freak, but it did seem excessive*
And if there is no driving responsibility, why are there still accidents on the road that need to be cleared? DONT TRUST COMPUTERS!
Haha father will HAVE to walk to his desk from his car. Lazy ass

Well we`ll all be driving sun powered electro suspension cars when we crack the power of the ether. Plus i loved the highway bridge being constructed out of thin air. Love it.x

None of this foreseen the internet and the decentralizing changes that would bring.

Got some things right! And seeing as it just said `the future` and didn`t state a date, it didn`t get anything wrong,

I want to live in 1958`s future! :(

It`s like Futurama meets The Jetsons meets Fallout 3!

I admire those who have the tenacity to dream and think big in a society that seems to ration idea makers. Not all dreams need to be made into reality to be relevant to the creative process.

"air conditioned highways" i like the way they thought in 1958. but seriously if the economy stuck the way it was back then all the way to today this may have been possible.

A lot of this actually exists. I love how they make urban sprawl out to be a social advancement.

If all this were to happen, developed countries would be even fatter than they are now. It`s the perfect prediction of Wall-E.

piperfawn
"Gerry can you do the ambulance as a model?"
I`d have to start with this model and modify it slightly.
Easy enough I suppose, the basic shape is there.

OldOllie:
"We`d have all this stuff today if it wasn`t for the damned Democrats!"

Yeah, because we all know that corporations love to spend money on the general population. How silly that the Democrats wanted to spend money on the health and well being of people. If they had kept the money and been greedy like the "Hillbilly Right" wanted, I`m sure companies like GE would be building us all air conditioned highways by now.
