@5cats #2 Because what he`s saying MIGHT be the truth? Innocent until proven guilty, remember that?

Umm.... I`m glad you`re not a lawyer he`s definitely guilty of murder the burden of proof falls on Mr. Z to prove that the murder was justfiable by the argument of self defense.

"#1 Even if everything he says is true?
#2 Because what he`s saying MIGHT be the truth? Innocent until proven guilty, remember that? "

Even if what he claims is true (or what the police claim he said, when the police has already tried to manipulate witnesses opinion by telling them that they didn`t hear Trayvon scream, but that they heard Zimmerman scream, even when the clearly said it was Trayvon), he still deserves jail time for murder. Whyyy? Because Zimmerman was perfectly safe and not in any harm at all, but he CHOSE to chase after Trayvon even after being told to stop. He purposefully put himself in "danger". If he gets a free pass for that, then all you have to do to murder someone and get away with it is to initiate a fight with them, shoot them, and claim it was self defense because they were hurting you when you started it in the first place.

#3 idk, he surely did make a mistake in persuing Trayvon, no arguement there. Should have stayed in his truck.
#3.3 The kid charges him and YOU think the gun should come out? I disagree.
#4 It`s a free country, unlike Canada, the right to defend yourself is a good thing.

I do agree, EVERYONE in the world is racist to a degree! That just means that Trayvon might have hated whites, or latinos.
(Please note: I don`t believe that, I`m just pointing out the flaw in @Chaos`s arguement, ok?)

1. I hope this non-nice individual gets raped and fisted in jail
2. how the F*** would you even defend him?[please don`t answer, you`re obviously lacking a brain and could never really muster up a good argument]
3. Whether this wannabe batman-save-the neighborhood-good-for-nothing douche bag was "attacked" or not, where in this entire scenario did he do any right?
- Neighborhood watch, notice the watch part? "WATCH"
- He disregards 911 operators instructions and still approaches the kid? wtf???
- supposedly kid chargers at him?
[didn`t you have enough time to keep your distance yourself and still confront him from a distance? like most cops do? like I would of, knowing I have a gun and i`m relatively safe from a distance?
- he had a gun? neighborhood watch is strapped in a gated community? WTF? really?
4. IF race did or has anything to do with it, which it seems like so far, who the f*** in this world isn`t racist? whether hes whi

Who did I paint? Trayvon? I thought he was black. I didn`t look up his ancestry. Seems you did. Unless you`re talking about Zimmerman, then oooops. It`s still racist to see a black person and the first thing that comes to mind is "they`re up to no good". Be they white, hispanic or cherry. Besides who cares? The dude should be in jail. How about this @madest:
Trayvon sees Zimmerman and runs off, Zimmerman chases him. Trayvon turns around and tackles Zimmerman, climbs on top of him (as a witness reported) sees the gun in it`s holster and trys to pull it out. Zimmerman wrestles with him, screaming for help, when the gun goes off accidentaly.
Both stories are equally supported by the "known facts" which are few.

Reply
Male 7,378
Yeah so what you "read" is more pertinent than the facts? Here you have an overzealous lout with a gun who sees black people as criminals up to no good. Let`s say you`re right. Zimmerman was attacked by a guy with skittles. They wrestle, Zimmerman pulls a gun and executes the skittle carrier.
You do not pass go. You do not collect $200. You go directly to jail in normal America. Zimmerman is a murderer. Your defense of him is shameful.

"except for the gun he was trying to take from Zimmerman."

So presumably he was crawling aggressively towards Zimmerman on his hands and knees and attempted to grab the gun while begging for his life?

So Zimmerman is forced to plead "Not guilty (white)." Nope, executing a black boy is not a chargeable offence, apparently.

Btw, I have no doubt this will end up in court, but not likely criminal court. It will be in civil court and it will be a wrongful death lawsuit that will take years to resolve.

Problem is, without the police or state`s attorney charging him criminally, it`s unlikely a wrongful death lawsuit will win.

When it doesn`t win, expect some idiots to riot.

Either way Zimmerman`s life will be ruined, whether he`s innocent or not.

I hope the bastard who did that goes to jail. I read the police report and listened to the guy who shot him on the phone with the police. The guy saw him walking down the street, chased him down, and when the kid turned around to defend himself, the guy shot him because there was something in his hand (it was a soda and some candy). The police were telling him the entire time to stop following him.

It`s called the "stand your ground" law, and if you think about it, it could actually be applied to Trayvon, since Zimmerman initiated the conflict by going after him. If we apply it to Zimmerman, then we should call it the "make my day" law, since Barney Badass thought that having a gun gave him the right to not "let these non-nice individuals" get away.

@5cats and CJ: LOL! Took me a minute to realize I typed "age" instead of "size"! Anyway, here is the law in Florida as it applies to this case: "Use of force in defense of person.—A person is justified in using force, except deadly force, against another when and to the extent that the person reasonably believes that such conduct is necessary to defend himself or herself or another against the other’s imminent use of unlawful force. However, a person is justified in the use of deadly force and does not have a duty to retreat if:

(1) He or she reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony; or

(2) Under those circumstances permitted pursuant to s. 776.013.History.—s. 13, ch. 74-383; s. 1188, ch. 97-102; s. 2, ch.

Joking aside, If I were in Martin`s shoes and a guy came running after me, on foot, I`d take my football playing past to good use and start running home. I seriously doubt an overweight middle-aged guy would `catch-up` to a 17 yr. old athlete.

I don`t know how these news outlets get to say they have a redacted copy of the police report and then not scan that report, so that people can read the whole thing for themselves. I`ve had to put together bits and pieces, like the one above, to get Zimmerman`s story and witness accounts from the report.

5Cats, you`re right that we couldn`t tell who is yelling, but it`s most likely Trayvon. It doesn`t sound like Zimmerman imo. It`d be better to ask his family/friends if it sounded like his voice though, because they`d know better than you and me. All the news reports are saying it`s Trayvon, too.

CJ:

You are so full of crap, if Zimmerman didn`t have a gun and did not get out of his car (as he was instructed to do by dispatch) why would he be dead? Tryvon would have no reason to attack him. You just make stuff up.

I also see no reason to take Zimmerman at his word that he saw Tryvon looking in peoples houses, not saying he is necessarily lying but it does not fit the facts well enough to believe it either.

Reply
Male 40,277
@LillianDulci: Actually, we don`t know who was yelling for help. It`s probably Trayvon, but could just as easily be an injured & bleeding Zimmerman, or he`s yelling for help because Trayvon`s fighting to get his gun.
Just saying, there`s a lot of unknowns in this case.
Why does the yelling stop after the shot? Zimmerman no longer being threatened might do it. The shock & horror of what happened?

CJ, mind providing a source for that? And of course Zimmerman is going to say whatever he can to get himself from being convicted of murder. None of the actual witnesses have said that Trayvon was attacking Zimmerman, but it`s very clear to hear that Trayvon was calling for help before getting shot (which means he probably wasn`t in a position to fight back, and Zimmerman could have stayed like that without shooting him until the police came since he had already called the police). Also, if Zimmerman thought he was in danger, he wouldn`t have followed Trayvon in the first place. He purposefully chased after him, and although 911 told him not to, he obviously continued chasing him after hanging up. Even if Trayvon was fighting back because of having a stalker chasing him around, Zimmerman purposefully put himself into that situation, and Trayvon was most likely acting out of REAL self defense against his stalker.

Lillina:
Where do you get that he ran toward and attacked Zimmerman?
It was in the police report, Trayvon tackled Zimmerman, punched him in the face, grabbed his head and started pounding it against the ground, then seen Zimmerman`s gun and tried to take it. Zimmerman and Trayvon wrestled over the gun and Trayvon got shot point blank in the chest.

That was Zimmerman`s story that he told the cops, which they wrote in the report, and from the evidence that they seen had no reason, or evidence, to doubt its truthfulness.

What person, in their right mind, runs toward and attacks the `creepy` `stalker` guy ? "

As far as we know, he didn`t. We DO know that Zimmerman was going after HIM! There is no evidence to suggest that Trayvon wasn`t running towards home.

"Chances are, if Zimmerman hadn`t had a gun he`d be dead and Trayvon would be the one claiming self-defense right now"

Trayvon looks like he weighs about 130 lbs. Zimmerman looks like he weighs about 250. Since Trayvon didn`t have a gun either, I guess that mkeans he would`ve bludgeoned him to death with the Skittles! Or....maybe Zimmerman would`ve done the right thing in the first place and not gotten out of the car to confront him, in which case, the police would`ve questioned Trayvon and realized that he had every right to be there.

"Trayvon was creeping around looking in people`s yards, approached close enough to Zimmerman to realize he was on the phone, calling the cops, and then Trayvon ran, not walked, away."
Were we listening to the same audio clip? Zimmerman says Trayvon is looking around which Zimmerman perceives as suspicious due to recent break-ins. But Trayvon could have been just looking at his surroundings/enjoying the night and Zimmerman only perceived it as suspicious behavior when in reality Trayvon wasn`t plotting to do anything at all. I never heard anything that indicated that Trayvon APPROACHED Zimmerman while he was on the phone. Just that Trayvon noticed Zimmerman and started running (after which, Zimmerman, if he thought he was in danger, could have stayed where he was, but instead he chose to CHASE Trayvon).

Where do you get that he ran toward and attacked Zimmerman? He clearly ran away from him and was being chased. I don`t know how far he was from his home by the time he was killed, so he could have been making his way and then Zimmerman caught up to him or went around some building and cut him off for all we know.

"Chances are, if Zimmerman hadn`t had a gun he`d be dead and Trayvon would be the one claiming self-defense right now. "
What the hell makes you say that? Trayvon was UNARMED. Zimmerman could have EASILY avoided the situation by not following Trayvon, but he CHOSE to put himself in a "dangerous" position (probably partially because he knew he had a gun and could kill Trayvon).

Now if Trayvon had just went home, there wouldn`t have been a problem. Why did Trayvon attack Zimmerman ? If you`re scared you run the 2 blocks home, not turn and attack.

The calls of `racism` and `murder` are ill-informed.

Listen to Zimmermans call again. He clearly states that Martin was walking away. What was Martin supposed to think when some creepy guy starts following him? He got the trauma because he engaged Martin, which he never should have done. As a neighborhood watch dude, it was his civic duty to let the cops do their job.

I highly doubt that`s true, but even if it is, Zimmerman chased Trayvon so Zimmerman purposely put himself in a "harmful" situation.

"Zimmerman says "He`s checking me out" then says "he`s running". "
Think about that. Zimmerman`s been following Trayvon. Trayvon notices, and turns around and watches him, gets creeped out, and starts running to hopefully get away from the guy who he thinks is stalking him. So Zimmerman starts chasing him (giving Trayvon more of a reason to run).

@LilianDulci: You assume it was murder, unless there`s evidence otherwise, we have to give equal value to Zimmerman`s story, which is that Trayvon grabbed for the gun (which he claims was in the holster). If that`s true, idk if it is, then it`s not murder.

Zimmerman says "He`s checking me out" then says "he`s running".

Personally I think Zimmerman SHOULD be charged with something, just to get him off the street...

Zimmerman was in his car, and Trayvon came up to his car? Then ran away?
For certain the dispatcher told him to not follow.
So far the first and the third links at @jt`s link are the most informative.
Sorry @LillianDulci I deleted and updated: In Zimmerman`s 911 call he`s describing the actions of Trayvon to the dispatcher, from inside his truck!
In the 3rd 911 call you can hear someone screaming, THEN a shot is fired.

It may well be Zimmerman did something illegal, but there`s no evidence of it so far. Wrong? yes I`d say so, but actionable? Jury`s still out.

jtrebowski: According to the report the shot happened `point blank` with gunshot residue on Martin`s arms. No word yet on the trajectory of the bullet. But the evidence so far shows there was a struggle for control of Zimmerman`s gun. Zimmerman`s back was wet and he was covered in grass as if he had been on the ground. He was bleeding from his nose and the back of the head, he was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Logic would dictate that if the kid was running away he wouldn`t get shot in the chest, point blank, and wouldn`t be partially holding the gun at the time, Zimmerman also wouldn`t have trauma to the back of his head, nose, and a wet grass stained back.

In the first call, you can clearly hear him say "these ass holes always get away" and then following the kid even after the 911 dispatcher tells him not to. In the last call, a witness says the kid was down on the ground calling for help, and THEN there was a loud noise like a gunshot.

This was murder.

The family of course want the killer punished because they will never admit their "baby" was up to shenanigans and was responsible for his own death.

If there had been wrongdoing on the Zimmerman`s part, the police would surely arrest him because of all the media attention this is getting. Seems like Zimmerman didn`t don anything wrong.

"No interaction" - He worded it poorly, but the police were saying they were fighting and zimmerman (who was following him unnecessarily and caused any kind of conflict completely on his own) was acting in self defense. In the audio, you can hear the kid calling help, but it doesn`t sound like he`s actually harming zimmerman right before zimmerman pulls the trigger.

So there was a loud confrontation, then a single shot.
Those two `lawyers` appear to have no grasp on reality at all. "No interaction"? So why were all those people calling 911? "Warning shot"? All the calls at the link say 1 shot, not two.

"I`m sure the first picture of him in a hoodie was much more relevant to the situation."

The reports are that the boy had no criminal history at all and the guy who shot the kid had at one time been charged with assault on a police officer. Prejudiced much darkmagic?

Sanford is a little more than 1/2 an hour from me, and I`ve been in that neighborhood a few times to serve legal documents. It`s a decent area with low crime rates. (just a bit of backgound) Also, you haven`t heard the 911 call made by Zimmerman himself, but the 911 operator tells him NOT to confront the kid as they are sending units to the neighborhood, and yet he did anyway. He`s a cop wanna-be who has a history of acting like a cop, and yet he`s the one with the arrest record. (assault)

@darkmagic14n What...he was a black boy in a grey hoodie...is that good enough for this man to follow him and then shoot him dead? The boy had no weapon and this man was looking to use his gun...he wanted to. Where is the 911 call from him after he shot him??

I like how they use his little league picture as a way to paint his innocence, I`m sure the first picture of him in a hoodie was much more relevant to the situation.
