You`re back peddling again, either grow a spine and stand behind what you said or grow a pair and admit you`re wrong. At least being a dumb ass is better than changing your stance more often than Mitt Romney. There is no other definition of kingdom that could remotely apply. This isn`t a state or a Kingdom of Heaven or a kingdom of the mind. The remaining definitions pertaining to biology or nature would both put insect in the animal kingdom.

Retarded? Are you @madest or something?
I used it in a perfectly CORRECT but NON-scientific way.
Is this a thesis paper? Must I be utterly perfect in my diction and grammar? NO! It`s IAB ffs!
YOU are obsessed with your ONEWAY ONLY worldview. Strange, I thought "liberals" were supposed to be "accepting" of other views...

"Quotes" serve many "purposes". Please edumicate yourself before branding others with your personal bigotry...

I truely hope you come back and read/respond. I think there`s hope for you @I-Is-Bored...

CJ: I never said you weren`t a compassionate person, and in many ways I find hunting and fishing preferable to farming animals since the creatures have a chance to live a normal life in nature (unless you`re doing the Dick Cheney sort of hunting).

Once again it`s a matter of necessity. Morals and ethics are progressive ideas that constantly evolve. For most of our history slavery was accepted by society. The ancient Greeks took underage boys as lovers customarily. Neither of those things are looked upon today as anything but horrific.

Now you`re not making even less sense 5Cats, Kingdom is the correct word for the level that specifies Animalia. You purposefully used the word kingdom and then stated that insects aren`t a part of it, that`s just retarded. There is only one way to use the word kingdom when referring to a group of biological entities. You even put it in quotes to emphasize it. Quit back peddling and spewing more garbage.

I didn`t "wave a red cape and cry "Obama! Obama!" in a feeble effort to distract from your fail." as you choose to put it, I presented a piece of evidence from your past as proof of the consistent level of absolute dreck in your posts. The fact that you can`t understand the logical construct of evidence to back an assertion is just more proof in favour of my thesis.

@I-Is-Bored, so I should have said "Phylum" or "Class" or "Order" or "Family"

And who`d have a clue what I was talking about?

I used the language in a perfectly acceptable way, as I provided proof for.

YOU ASSUMED there was only ONE way. Closed minded person that you are. And you were rude about it.
Strike two!
Then you wave a red cape and cry "Obama! Obama!" in a feeble effort to distract from your fail.
Strike three!
You`re OUT!!

I-IS-BORED, Lanolin isn`t meat. It`s an animal byproduct, yes, but that doesn`t make it "meat".

But more importantly, the use of the word "Have" is what throws this off. In this context, the word "Have" would have the same meaning as the word "contain". And that makes the statement just as flawed.

Now, if the caption had read "8 things you didn`t know that were produced with animal byproducts" then yes, it would be very accurate.

That`s not being a grammar nazi, you said they are of different kingdoms. That is a statement, the grammar is not in question at all. What is in question is the level of intelligence required to write a birther post about Obama`s Kenyan birth certificate and as proof you provided a Kenyan birth certificate (I`ll give you THAT part), labelled FAKE, and containing George W. Bush Junior`s information. In a world as conservative as you push for, you woulda been put down years ago as part of a euthanasia program for being a waste of resources.

@I-Is-Bored: I grow so weary of "schooling" you:

"The word "animal" comes from the Latin word animalis, meaning "having breath".[1] In everyday colloquial usage, the word often refers to non-human members of kingdom Animalia. Sometimes, only closer relatives of humans such as mammals and other vertebrates are meant in colloquial use.[2]" - From Wiki, "Animal"

You want to be a cherry-picking grammer nazi, fine, but to get all self-righteous about it? Sad.

and
"Different `kingdom` eh? That`s why bugs are not meat."

spreading ignorance on your level should be criminal.

FoolsPrussia: I don`t equate or elevate animals to be like human beings. That said I believe they should be treated as humanely as possible.

There are times where that`s not possible though, for instance vaccine research and testing products before they are sold to humans.

I`m a hunter and a fisherman, I`ve killed animals for food. That doesn`t make me a heartless person, I love pets and have had several and I`ve shed tears when they died.

Why remove the tools that were given by our own superior intelligence? We didn`t "build a society" so that we can remove ourselves from the food chain, our society only exists because we are the top predator. We are so high above everything else, in fact, that we pick and choose which animals are deemed most suitable for eating, and we save those that we deem precious.

Sure, a one-on-one with a tiger in the jungle on open ground without a weapon would end in my death, but superior human intelligence wouldn`t let me end in that embarrassing situation, which is why we are superior.

Interestingly, under that kind of broad religious definition some people consider the flesh of sea lions, seals, whales, etc to also not be meat. Because the bible says so :|

General rule guys, if it`s an animal and you eat it, it`s meat. /rant

Eg (Stolen straight from Wiki for your enjoyment because I am too lazy to find a better source, but you can if you feel the need)

"Religious rites and rituals regarding food also tend to classify the birds of the air and the fish of the sea separately from land-bound mammals"

(Ie, because the bible says its not meat does not change that it is, by definition, meat, sorry)

In addition I have had some experience with the agriculture industry (I have raised ornamental fish and worked on farm projects) and fish and other non mammalian meats are not referred to as `meat` in processing situations in order to keep them distinct from mammalian/red meats and processing facilities and avoid confusion and cross contamination. However, it is still, of course, flesh and hence meat.

"Erm. Fish and meat are not the same thing :/ "

The flesh of fish is indeed a type of meat. Skeletal tissue is what we commonly call meat, and thats what you are eating when you eat fish. (Other organs, eg livers, can also be called `meat` but thats not very common now a days) People who eat fish but not other animals are not vegetarian by default, whatever they claim, because they eat meat. They are pescetarians. The concept of fish =/= meat is an incorrect view, by definition it is the tissue (in particular skeletal) of a living animal so it is meat, regardless of different appearance. Otherwise, chicken and fowl is not meat, nor is pig, lamb or any mammal by definition. The concept of fish =/= meat is usually considered a religious based view.

(Also being pescetarian is not a bad thing. Most of them only go for wild caught animals and not factory farmed fish and hence many arguably have the best balance between health/diet and ethics/awareness of food)

CJ: a) The canine argument is completely false. We have pretty dull canines. There are many herbivorous animals that have much fiercer canines (gorillas, horses).

b) The digestion issue is debatable, but I don`t think either of us are doctors or nutritionists.

c) I never said we weren`t capable of eating meat.

d) What would you consider an immoral act? I would argue that it is something that causes suffering needlessly. You wouldn`t justify killing another human unless it was for defense. Eating animals falls into that category, because most of us in the Western world can live without it.

e) "Man up": What makes someone a man? It`s doing the right thing, despite what society tells you to do. It has nothing to do with a stereotype of the right diet.

"And this is why there`s no such thing as a vegetarian. Half of the things we use in our daily lives come from some part of an animal."

There`s a difference between a vegetarian and a vegan. Vegetarians will eat things that come from animals (without them dying at least), like cheese, milk, etc. Vegans will not eat anything that comes from an animal, so no dairy products at all, or anything on this list.

Some of these things don`t contain things from _dead_ animals (or, at the very least you don`t have to kill the animal to get it), so most vegetarians will eat it.

And I know some vegetarians cheat and eat fish claiming it`s not meat, but if meat is defined as the muscle tissue of an animal, then yes that Tuna Melt is indeed `meat`.

FoolsPrussia: Humans have `canine`, aka cuspid teeth that are designed for eating meat. In fact in some cultures, this is such an obvious `animal` trait that, it is tradition to file them down to appear as extra incisor teeth.

We have fairly simple digestive systems well suited to the consumption of animal protein, which breaks down quickly.

We do not have the complex digestive systems of herbivores that are needed to break down cellulose, which the main part of an herbivores diet.

We are omnivores, please man up and be one. I promise it won`t kill you or shorten your life one bit. So eat a steak, make some bacon and eggs, drink some milk (unless your lactose intolerant), it won`t hurt you.

I don`t expect you to feel the same way as I do about this, but the difference is that animals eat other animals out of necessity and instinct. You have the ability to make your mind up on a moral issue; they don`t.

Correct. All the vegan women I know (which is quite a few) do research these things and boycott those products. I do the same with men`s products. I don`t use a major brand of razor and shaving cream, because they all test on animals (needlessly).

People are also meat, so I wouldn`t call on that one.

Also, lanolin is produced on sheep`s skin and it is a byproduct of shearing/wool production. Unless you are vegan, you`re good. Regular vegos with no problem with wool should be fine with this.

And I believe it is possible to culture rennett, so beyond the original cow killed to get it, it`s able to be cultured without killing any more from then on. (Assuming culture medium is vegetable based I guess)

It is very very difficult to be vegan. i thought i was a vegan for 2 years because i stopped eating anything with meat products in them, but i just recently realized i have to catch myself when i buy any cloths with leather and research my shampoos and other regular household items, since most of them have something that came from an animal.

Coyote, im still gunna get on your case because while plants do exhibit some similar traits like reacting to music, so in a sense, they can show a emotional response, but they do not have nerves or neural tissue to allow them to feel pain in the same sense that we would. Animals and fish do indeed have nerves and feel pain like humans, albeit some are more or less sensitive.

And before vegans get on my case, I eat both meat and veggies because they really aren`t that different. plants have been shown in various studies to be capable of feeling and directly reacting to stimuli. And since I can`t live off of air and dirt, I might as well eat `em all.

If this is going to stop you from drinking guiness then I highly advise you to go leave in forest. Animal are heavily used in non-food related products. If you can`t use anything that got made by killing a pig then you can`t use roads or enter buildings, just the cellular concrete under on constructions should be enough to force you out of town.
A normal pig will be used in over 300 products.

There`s a TED talk about how pigs are used, you can easily find it.

As for the Cochineal, it`s made from the shell. But "Bugs" do contain muscle... aka meat. Most beers, lagers, and ales use isinglass or some kind of finings to clear the liquid, but so do many concentrate juice manufacturers to bind the crap making it a clear coloured liquid.
