CM punks is right for the most part, and he`s right to suggest that Chris Brown`s punishment should have been more severe. I think violence should be met with violence sometimes, but in the vast majority of situations that come up in life it definitely shouldn`t be even considered.

Chris brown has successfully beat up his opponents so far, but I think it`s a little early for him to move on to targets with penises. He still needs to groom himself...

I also would like to place a bet that Chris Brown talks all sorts of smack about this guy but refuses to fight him.

Birdz, I also know the feeling of being completely helpless and claustrophobic. It`s beyond terrifying. Especially when that person is laughing at your terrified reaction...

That has to be the most clear, succinct, well thought out, calm, direct to the point video I`ve ever seen from a professional wrestler and I hope he gets his chance to fold up Chris Brown like a paper airplane.

and for the record, i have been through a relationship where i was attacked by a woman, did not defend myself, and called the police. End result was me with 7 stab wounds from a letter opener, her asleep in the bed when the cops came without a mark on her. Lastly, me handcuffed to the ER bed getting stitches while the cops laughed at me.

my father tought me one thing more than anything else. Never put your hands on a woman. However when a woman puts her hands on you she is no longer a woman. If a woman puts herself in a mans shoe, she deserves to be knocked out of it. There is a difference though, a man should not lose control of himself when she is no longer a threat to his safety, he better stop. In other words, if i am getting attacked, no matter the sex of the attacker, i will defend myself until there is no more threat. as far as Mr Brown, he is a punk and a little boy who is using his fame to get out of doing the wrong thing and i would be honored if i was the one to teach him that. If she attacked him, he had every right to defend himself, but he went too far

@Angilion

First, no, it was not an insult lobbed at 300 million people. Considering you agreed that what I said was a possibility how can you then accuse me of insults? It`s not an insult, it`s a truth.

Now, as far as sexism goes, it isn`t based on sexism. It`s only based on sexism because you are saying it is. But the truth is that the average woman is much smaller than the average male in both weight and height. That`s a fact. So, based on the law of averages, abusive men aren`t even bothering to pick on anyone their own size.

Last, it is entirely possible to defend yourself without beating the unholy hell out of somebody. You can take a basic self defense class anywhere. Quite frankly, it`s your type of thinking that leads to domestic abuse. Your type of thinking is "that`s an adult, so fair game." That kind of mentality says it`s ok to be up 25 year old people with down`s syndrome or quadriplegics.

Fact. Abusers only pick on

"The difference is not so massively huge that any man can easily restrain any woman without any degree of violence. "

Depends on the woman. I have an ex boyfriend who thought it was funny to pin me to the ground by lying on top of me. Try as I might I could not even budge his weight. He outweighed me by almost 100 pounds, that`s me being small not him being overly large. You cannot understand how angry and claustrophobic that made me feel, unless you`ve experienced that sort of helplessness. And it`s not like it took him any effort. Just his body weight.

Ah, I see. It`s the Superman and little girl thing.

Sure, I`m bigger and stronger than a very large majority of women I know. Whoopie do. Some of them could kick my arse anyway, due to training. Some others could do so simply because they`re more willing to do harm than I am - a hugely overlooked factor in any physical conflict.

The difference is not so massively huge that any man can easily restrain any woman without any degree of violence. Superman and the little girl is not reality.
Yes angillion, they ARE like children, and there`s nothing wrong with accepting this.
There`s a great deal wrong with that attitude and I`m certainly not going to accept it. I can`t stop you thinking of women as being like children and you can`t stop me thinking of women as being adults. Because they are. It`s inherent in the definition - if they weren`t adults they wouldn`t be women.

A great deal of harm has been done over the millenia by treating women as children. I refuse to do it or accept it as reasonable.

My background:

I haven`t surrounded myself with entirely mature women during my twenties. So in turn, I found myself in situations involving overly intoxicated horribly mean spirited violent women. Not necessarily violent towards myself, but that`s not the point. The point is, it`s a rather simple task for any non-anemic man with any education on how to defend HIMSELF to restrain the vast majority of the female gender without a knock out punch.

I DO believe violence is required in a lot of situations involving two men. I don`t consider sitting on a woman`s back with her arms pinned down violence.

"On the other hand, if a woman starts swinging at me or my loved ones and there`s no other way for me to diffuse the situation, you`d better believe I won`t think twice about hitting back."

Here`s the thing with this comment. IMO most people who comment on violence against women have never actually been in a situation where they fealt it was necessary. Which, by and large, is good for them. However, it makes their assessment ignorant. The simple fact is, most of us understand escalation of force, even if we don`t admit to it. I have NEVER been around a women who I fealt could severely injure me without a weapon in her hand. They`re generally small and weak. Yes angillion, they ARE like children, and there`s nothing wrong with accepting this.

If you honestly feel you need to hit an unarmed woman to halt her aggression, you probably need to go to the gym more.

@Angilion, My brother-in-law got out of a bad marriage with an abusive woman and some of the crazy-as-drat poo that she would do to him amazed me.

She once attacked him, with a baseball bat, and when he called the police she also called the police and promised him that when they got there she would make sure that he would lose custody of his child from a previous marriage. Cops show up, he`s got the battle-scars to prove he was the victim, but he chickens out and says the whole thing was a misunderstanding.

One time of many that he was mentally, verbally, and physically abused and for various reasons he felt powerless to change his situation.

@MrOrange, I live by a motto of treating men and women equally. I don`t believe in hitting a woman largely because I don`t believe in hitting men either. Physical violence is never justified because we`ve been insulted, berated, or verbally attacked.

On the other hand, if a woman starts swinging at me or my loved ones and there`s no other way for me to diffuse the situation, you`d better believe I won`t think twice about hitting back.

What Chris Brown did was inexcusable and the larger communal backlash of `bitch deserved it` is sickening.

But this has gone off tangent from this specific case. The police report is publically available - there`s no way that was a reasonable, or even sane, response to provocation, even if there was any provocation (and there`s no evidence that there was).
Of course, in Europe, woman beating doesn`t seem to have the same negative connotation that it does in the states.
Perhaps not. Perhaps there is less sexism in Europe than in the USA. But unlike you, I`m not willing to mindlessly insult ~300 million people out of nationalism.

And yes, the primary motivation is sexism. Both ways, since it relies on viewing women as being more like children than adults.
Once again, it`s called a telephone and on the other end can be the police. Then they are called restraining orders.
There are cases where a person doesn`t have access to a telephone because the person abusing them won`t let them get to one. Also, it`s a risk for a man to call the police and say he`s being abused by a woman in a domestic violence context - he`s risking being presumed to be the abuser because of his sex. Random example - I used to work with a woman who had violently abused a boyfriend in the past. One day, a neighbour called the police. They turned up and found her boyfriend on the floor in a pile of shattered glass - she`d put him through a glass-topped table - while she threw things at him. They dragged him off to a cell in the police station, because the man is always guilty. He was lucky he wasn`t convicted and jailed.

And, yet, during none of those confrontations has any of you seemed to need to whip out your fists and bludgeon someone to the point of putting them in the hospital. You`re only disproving your own point.

Once again, it`s called a telephone and on the other end can be the police. Then they are called restraining orders.

Of course, in Europe, woman beating doesn`t seem to have the same negative connotation that it does in the states. Maybe that`s why you feel the way you do.

Meh, tiny men hit women. Tiny physically, mentally, or phallic-ly.

Solution, tiny men have near zero opportunities to reproduce. It`s a slow process as it requires bigger women, a lot of which don`t necessarily want to be "big" but it`s been happening for some time already.

I, for one, appreciate the balls it took for him to put himself on the firing range like that.

one case was a wife and i don`t know the right term for this so forgive me: "bearhugging" the husband refusing to let go whilst telling him what a usseles guy he was.
another one was where the gf blocked the exit, and refused to let the bf pass becuase she wasn`t finnished telling him what she thought of him.

i myself have spent quite a few hours locked inside the bathroom with someone hurling rather endearing terms through said door.

You`re right. It`s better to just brutally punch them in the face repeatedly instead of just pushing them aside and walking away or calling the police (harrassment.) Honestly, though, how does one make it physically impossible for someone else to walk away?

I agree that violence is to be avoided as much as possible. and that walking away is the best option etc etc, what if you can`t walk away? what if you can`t reason?

(i`m not talking about the chris bown thingy here now, just theory)

i`ve been witness to a few situations, where the female physicaly made it impossible for the male to leave whilst verbaly pushing as many buttons as she could.

@MrOrange

Take a look at what he did to Rhianna and then take a look at his mugshots. Who won that fight? As someone who doesn`t believe in violence, I would think you`d promote level headedness. Unfortunately, you believe that it`s ok for someone to completely lose control of themself and beat a woman repeatedly. I mean, let`s weigh the two things. Which does more damage? Words or fists? He could have been the bigger man and not let any kind of provocation lead to violence, but he wasn`t and didn`t. That`s on HIM.

Quite frankly, I find your entire post a lesson in hypocrisy.

CM Punk is awesome. I DO watch wrestling (occasionally), so I knew who he was before this. He has, very proudly, waved a banner against alcohol and drugs for his entire career despite times when people didn`t like it. Whether "face" or "heel" he`s always promoted what he stands for. This video is no different, it`s just him shooting as opposed to scripting himself beforehand. Chris Brown is a sad sack of poo. Punk is right and nothing will change that. Chris Brown doesn`t have the testicles to actually fight Punk in a REAL fight, not a staged one for the benefit of PPV buys or to help promote Chris Brown positively like so many other stars in the past. He`ll hide behind the skirt of his entourage because he`s a loser.

MrOrange, you strike me as a man who couldn`t control himself and struck a woman. And eff you, unless a woman is attacking you with a deadly weapon, beating up your mother or something similar. There is no valid reason why a man should hit a woman.

That... was the complete opposite of what I was expecting. I like this guy.
And as for MrOrange, I understand where you are coming from, but it is never acceptable to hit and abuse a woman, under any circumstances. It`s not about equal rights. It`s no one`s "right" to be abused. If you have to escalate to violence over talking about a problem or situation, I highly question your intelligence. Both parties included.

I don`t believe in violence, and i don`t think chris brown is a nice guy from what little info i have. I do feel compelled to say though, that we never heard what happend or how she was behaving, if she provoked him or not. and since i don`t know that i am starting to feel a you never wee bit uncomfertable with the everlasting abuse being thrown his way.
And before the "you never hit a woman" argument gets brought up. i agree with that, however there are moments you could lose yourself control if someone did or said something that cuts you straight to the core, and if they did that beliberatly, then the reaction is on their head as much as the person who reacted, regardles of gender. (equal rights = equal responsibility)

Hopefully, this signifies the end of this way thinking and we can go back to respecting folks, regardless of their sex.
