The world would be a much less confusing place if every building had a system like this.

Because You don`t want colour blind people suing for descrimination.

The black mesa complex in the original Half Life had coloured lines on walls and floors as well.
So yeah, been moderately commonplace since the late 90`s at the very least.

Some hospitals in the UK use a similar system with coloured lines on the floor. It works well.

My wife says "That`s funny, all the conference rooms are on the roof."

It seems it`s not simple enough for some people.

"Hey. That`s how you get around at Battle School."

I`ve seen a lot of buildings with a similar mapping system... Especially on my trips to Boston for work...

A lot of physics labs have this but it`s smarter because the lines are on the wall, not the ceiling, so you can watch where you`re walking.

Because most people would walk into everything while focusing too much on following the colors above their heads. I know I would at least :3

@TKD MASTER

It goes down the left side of the wall, the 156 however is not in sight. I`m guessing it`s on the wall like the opposite side.

Did they get the idea from the water temple in Ocarina of Time 3D, or the other way around?

@greenbasterd

Uh, there are 6 rooms not 5.

Obviously this system would be intended for visitors who had never been there before...

at least point me in the direction of the elevators for the rooms not on this floor...

They sometimes do it on the floor, better to have people look at the floor than in the ceiling.

probably not a good idea for people to have to stare at the ceiling but its still a good idea...

So now you have hallways full of people bumping into each other because they`re all looking up at the ceiling.

@pmarren - there are, they just run alongside the far left and right of the corridor, by the ceiling.

Nope, still confusing consider two colors just sort of disappear. Would`ve found rm135 easily enough, now I`ve given up before I started because it`s clear it has fallen into an abyss.

Nice how there are no orange, cyan, nor purple lines to go with the corresponding labels. Seems even MORE confusing that way.
