Plenty of people have to work and don`t have time to go to Mass to get their ashes. This is a pretty obvious solution, if you`re laughing at the drive through, you`re an idiot. If you want to laugh do it at the fact that millions of people are walking around looking like jackasses with ashes on their heads as a tribute to a 2000 year old hippy.

It was for Ash Wednesday people, Their church was just making things convenient for their parishioners. Wednesday, after all, is a weekday. People need to go to work, run errands, have appointments to attend, etc. It`s not as if they are offering drive-thru sermons, communions, or confessionals.

Gerry: Your example was of a Drive-in movie theater that was used for Sunday morning services, It wasn`t a "church" per se. They used to hold tent revivals on fairgrounds, and Billy Graham filled sports stadiums for his preaching, but neither were churches.

The church isn`t the building.. it`s the people. According to the theology anyway. You do not need a building to have a church.

    I`m actually ok with this.
Ash Wednesday people just go to church to get an ash cross on their foreheads.
And while i think the whole thing`s stupid, this wastes less time.
