An upset Facebook outsource employee recently distributed this list of material that the site deems ban-worthy. Yikes!

I dont see the problem here, these points are , almost, all perfectly reasonable and are enforced in any serious company as unwritten laws.

The only items I`m "meh" about is Hate content section 8. But the rest is really alright

And as for the international IP blockage, this point is obviously enforced by government requests, since it reeks politics. So no, you cant support Al-qaeda on facebook even if this particular pamflet doesnt mention them.

However, whereas the other rules are mostly common sense, the ramifications of things such as banning the posting of a map, are significantly scary.

But all in all 95% of these points fall under the concept of common sense. Which is more or less a miracle coming from the crazy side of the pond.

The only reason anyone should have a reason to want excplicit content on a webpage viewable by all ages is that you`re so badass normal society doesn`t concern you

@krw888, Escalate means that the moderators are required to forward the case to a senior employee for moderation if the moderator himself is unable to guarantee the validity of the rule breach

So, I can`t support the PKK but I can support Al Qaeda?

Jeezus, might as well just delete my account now.

They already have all of these rules. They don`t have enforcers though, so it`s up to people to `report` the misconduct.

@Matwix_2004 Yeah, that surprised me as well, and now I see this afternoon that Tumblr is on the bandwagon as well.
@patchgrabber I agree with you as well. A large portion of stupidity all over the world is caused by people like that.
But honestly? I should shut up. IAB is the only place I have an account anymore. And we`ve all seen people here banned because of openly hateful speech. Isn`t it the responsibility of those in power, to a certain extent, to protect decency?

@krw88 Escalate means it send s the post to a Facebook employee to judge further and maybe ban user or pass information to the police.

The problem with this is that there are people who make it their daily job to be offended by something, then cry like a little girl with a skinned knee about it.

November_Rai - Pretty much. Surprised it happened with reddit first, to be honest.

I really don`t see much wrong with this, nor am I surprised. In order for Facebook to maintain maximum popularity, and therefor maximum profits, it has to be a Utopian community for everyone in it, and that means removing anything "upsetting".

Seems to be the turkisk version
(see Turkey/PKK/Kurdistan/Ocalan)...
For the rest, i think we can live with that.
Oh wait, they forgot to ban the A-, B-, C-, D-,....X-,Y-,Z-words...
Luckily, IAB already complies to this rule.

i`ll remember those rules just in case i ever bother to create an account - although it would probably be easier talking to my g/friend on it judging by how often she`s logging on to find out gossip off her friends. ffs, she`s even got text alerts set up on her phone now for it, just so she doesn`t miss the next crucial `here`s what i had for dinner` update off one of them.

Also, "depicting sexual fetishes in any form" is a really broad rule. What constitutes the depiction of a sexual fetish? Some people are turned on by feet. I have at least one picture of my feet on Facebook.

Hate Content, Section 4:

"Showing support for organizations and people primarily known for violence."

So does this mean that anyone promoting the U.S. government will be banned on facebook now?

BTW, they don`t say they are banning users. It is a guide for moderators to help them decide if reported posts should be confirmed for deletion. I suppose if the moderator hits the escalate button, then it could result in a ban. You get paid $1 per hour as a Facebook moderator.

I went to the article and read the full policy document and it definitely says Facebook does not allow ANY photoshopped images of people, whether positive, negative, or neutral. How can that work? I hate Facebook!!!

I don`t like that there going to start banning so many people for these things. If you don`t like the things there posting there is a block button, and you can befriend them.

It`s okay. You can show nudity, rape, violence and naked children as long as it`s in a religious painting. Should be easy to find.

Quick show of hands. Anyone else feel compelled to see how many of these rules can be broken in a single uploaded image?

Or is that just me?

Is this like a Bingo checklist?

I`ve had my own artwork removed by Facebook becaue another user reported as copyright infringement. After a couple of back and forth emails with them the end result was I was told I needed to get the person who reported it to email them saying that my artwork wasn`t a copyright violation.

Ridiculous. I`m glad I use other sites with less restrictions for picture sharing and whatnot now.

My mom got a facebook warning the other day for calling someone a poopy head (or something equally as innocent/ridiculous), when the reason for her saying it was the person made a hate page directed at her friend. Seriously, facebook...
