It was decent enough, until daroofa pointed out why she was saying what she was. Then it became quite entertaining.

"it`s not an easy job, to act your scenes dozens of times, but yes, it is easy, annoying maybe, but not hard. You stand there and read your lines and act like your character."

You are not an actor, and this is not acting, so strop pretending you have any knowledge of the subject. I`m not even going to mention the craft of stage acting.

She makes something up using the numbers/letters in the scene portion of each slate.

To make matters worse, you may be an awesome actor, but an actor can`t make a piss poor script better. A piss poor editor, producer or director can`t make an actor look good. The performance will go unnoticed and will actually serve as a blemish on your portfolio...but you need the money...

I`ve considered acting, I have a knack for being hilarious in public, but didn`t want the risk of being broke, so I joined the military.

It`s a hard life for actors trying to make it, I will concede to that, and not every actor can make it, even if they have the skill, they have to look the part. I don`t think Brad Pitt would have made it if he looked like a regular Joe Shmoe, his appearance helps sell his performance. Yes I know there are a lot of ugly actors, but they don`t get the same type of parts Brad Pitt gets (imagine Steve Buscemi in Troy).

I don`t even pity how so many actors are suffering trying to make it big. They should know what they`re trying to achieve is a selfish goal, fame and fortune. That it is a super competitive field is all proof of how shallow a lot of us are. and to make matter worse, every year a new celebrity shows up out of nowhere, picked up off the street with a degree in a completely different field...ain`t that a bitch?

Acting..not easy?

You realize it`s one of the easiest jobs in the world? The only hard part of acting is finding work. Seriously, you hear it time and time again how it`s not an easy job, to act your scenes dozens of times, but yes, it is easy, annoying maybe, but not hard. You stand there and read your lines and act like your character. It could get tiring if you`re filming a bunch of action sequences, but most acting is done in a quiet room.

If you`re an actor lucky enough to get major film roles, you only have to find work once every year, for the rest, they have to FIND work, usually small demeaning roles like commercials, and manage to pay their bills.

tl;dr Acting is easy

Looks like a fun job. Acting doesn`t look as easy as I thought it would look either...

Only down fall to the humor is the wasted time while the actors regain composure.

I hear ya Batmanners, with how everything is done with technology, this seems almost like an old-fashioned luxury to have.

Not every filmmaker does it still. If it`s being filmed digitally, they can use a computer to insert the same information. The clapper is still handy, because it is loud enough - generally - for all the people on the set to hear it and know that filming is happening. Plus, it`s all analog - one moving part, and a loss of power won`t keep it from operating.

Plus, it seems ... classier, to me. It`s probably one of the things that hasn`t changed in Hollywood over the years, even though sound and video technology has advanced.

I don`t know why I thought they stopped doing this... Odd. I never heard that they stopped doing it, I think it`s because it`s so cliché, my brain assumed it was just something they did in the golden age of Hollywood... I have a weird brain.
