Submitted by: kitteh9lives 5 years ago Misc

A traffic stop on video jeopardizes a mans livelihood when shown to his employer. Harassment or doing their job I-A-B?

i`m not getting all the story here. first he assumes it`s because he`s black so he already has the attitude. he`s dressed like a thug - that doesn`t help him. since when do the police share information with anyone? the officers responded properly, has he strutted around with a shot gun shell. doesn`t matter where he got it, he`s a potential threat. what he says is irrelevant, the fact that he`s in the car to start with shows he doesn`t have anxiety issues.

"BUT he should have worn his seat belt"

That`s the thing about seat belt laws.

It`s almost impossible for anyone outside your car to tell whether you`re wearing your seat belt or not.

So police can pull over anyone they want, under the justification that they thought they saw them not wearing a seat belt.

Maybe the cop was scared because he jumped out of his car all agitated and had his hands in his pockets. You just don`t do that.

Sounds lame, but when I`m pulled over, I turn on my interior light and keep my hands on the steering wheel. I then ask the cop if I can reach for my wallet etc.

Clearcut case of DWB.

When he said, "I have anxiety issues," she should have changed tactics. But I`m sure she doesn`t have training to deal with these sorts of sensitive issues. At least she didn`t pull a gun. Clearly showing the video to his boss was inappropriate.

@Rev121 - Maybe getting out of the car is technically wrong (can`t comment on that as not from USA) but he was in no way threatening. Also he has been stopped many times without just cause - little wonder that he would be less than co-operative. It looks like racial profiling to me. Unfortunately this is alive and well in the UK too. :-(

What an ahole cop to do that. Those police had no right to involve themselves in his professional life.

He did nothing wrong in either video. Sad.

WTF, Seattle, you`re supposed to be a forward-thinking city. Get this poo under control. I don`t think you count as progressive if your cops think they`re kings of the city.

"I have anxiety issues" should of been an acceptable thing to say.

Wow, what douches. Never have I heard of a cop showing an employer a video like this. It`s obvious to me they were trying to get him in trouble, cause their dicks like that.

Profiling. Alive and well in the Emerald city. Interesting to me because, I`ve always considered Seattle PD one of the finest police forces in the country.

this shows that the dept promotes a bully mentality and that man should sue the police for harassment and invasion of privacy and slander.

It`s obvious that those cops are actually good samaritans, and under the guise of harassment have given this man an unbeatable lawsuit against the police department.

Okay. It was wrong of them to show the employer. Mainly because he did nothing wrong.

If he was being a dick, then yeah. Get his ass fired.

those cops are only acting within the bounds of what they know they can get away with.

this shows that the dept promotes a bully mentality and that man should sue the police for harassment and invasion of privacy and slander.

Showing the employer? Come the drat on. What`s the purpose in that? The law doesn`t translate directly into you getting fired.

So maybe the little cop was scared the first time(btw she`s clearly in the wrong line of work if someone with no weapon scares her while she has back up),the second time was obvious harassment and taking the video to his boss is a clear abuse of power. I would fire those cops`asses, except that some cops would proabably end up shooting that guy (in "self defense" of course) I`ve never been in trouble with law, don`t even have a family member or a friend who has been, but I really think that some of the biggest scum on earth with power issues go into police work.

I don`t care what his bullpoo excuses are. If you get out of the car and refuse to cooperate with the police you should expect to be treated in a hostile manner. You`re actively defying authority and causing a disturbance. People who don`t get that are the same idiots who keep doing things they shouldn`t and then blaming everyone else for their own actions.

So bunk.

If you got pulled over for wearing your seat belt, it`s your fault. If you get out of the car and are uncooperative with the police, deal with your anxiety. Is it the little girl cop`s fault for calling for backup with a huge, angry black guy?

Protect and serve, and send videos of your behavior under duress to people who may take it out of context and punish you.

This is unacceptable behavior on the police. It clearly displays racial profiling and abuse of power.

I hope those pieces of poo burn.

When will people learn. If you act irrational or agittated around cops, they`re going to get nervous. If you make them realy nervous, they might draw down on you.

Yes, you are a large man hopping out of your car and waving your arms about in an aggitated manner when stopped by a female officer. Of course you made her nervous. No need to play the race card here.

Totally not cool to show his boss the video and glad to see they were repimanded for it.

Herassment.
I usually hate silly law suits but this time, just to use it as a punishment for the cops, sue them. Sue the city and the individual cops. It`s the only weapon we have against the police.

Why the hell would cops show any video to a person`s boss ?

They won`t show the news people any footage citing `privacy issues`, but they violate this guys privacy by showing this to his boss ?

I`m sensing a hell of a lawsuit here.

not that I think he`s in the wrong but he`s lucky it wasn`t a male officer who originally stopped him or he would of hit that pavement hard with all the electricity that would of been going through him after he hopped out of his car
