Scorned Sports Anchor Is Scorned?

This reporter mounts a bizarre personal attack on Danica Patrick. Is he just misogynistic or is it something else I-A-B?

She is hot, and racing cars makes her hotter. I will not dig into the complexities of any situation she might be in trying to race, I will just look at her and be pleased.
I really couldn`t care less about racing, but this doesn`t seem to be a fair assessment. From what I`ve read about her, she`s a top-rated auto racer - not THE top, but near the top. That doesn`t seem to me to be `mediocre.
"Mediocre relative to others in the same category" is probably what they meant. She`s good enough to race at the highest level, but she`s not good enough to win championships or even races. She won a race once. That`s not much of a record, is it?

If you compare her against people in general, she`s outstandingly brilliant. Put her and the average person in the street in identical cars on a track and the race would be a ludicrous mismatch.

If you compare her against the top tier of professional racing drivers, she`s mediocre.
Are we really going to have this stream of non-racers throwing their completely baseless opinion of athleticism in motorsports out in public for people to laugh at? We are, aren`t we?
You don`t need to be a racer to be able to do simple maths, nor do you need to be a racer to be able to read material on the effect of g-forces on humans. So what is your point?
Your information isn`t wholly accurate. Firstly, "up to 3g" is just wrong. The max G`s on the banks can exceed 5
So why did every source I could find state "up to 3g"? Some even gave calculations showing different tracks to illustrate the point that slower tracks can result in higher g-forces because the turns are tighter.

I suppose I could find the data for several nascar tracks and calculate the g-forces myself.
F1 is without a doubt about getting tackled by a linebacker over and over again throughout the course of a football game. It requires a certain amount of pain threshold, and the physique to get back up. Nascar is as close to soccer as americans will allow. It IS a slow burn.
Good point. A Nascar race takes roughly twice as long as an F1 race, so endurance is more of a factor.

I have respect for women like Shirley Muldowney and Janet Guthrie. They did it in a much more difficult time and didn`t have to slut it up to get over.

burbclaver: "She`s right. We should use an adjective that describes her abilities as an athlete not as a sex object. How about "mediocre"?"

I really couldn`t care less about racing, but this doesn`t seem to be a fair assessment. From what I`ve read about her, she`s a top-rated auto racer - not THE top, but near the top. That doesn`t seem to me to be `mediocre. Now, you could argue that this isn`t athletic - but I`ll let others debate this.

"So why is it that, because a female athlete is in a go-daddy commercial, shaking her ass and with half naked supermodels behind her, that she must be described as sexy??"

what a joke the only reason she is racing is cause she is "sexy". As far as being an athlete.. if you consider a bowler or golfer an athlete then ya she is one. I don`t

car racing is not a sport or athleticism.

And you`re right, I misused velocity. I meant momentum as the stock cars can exceed three times the weight of an F1.

Your information isn`t wholly accurate. Firstly, "up to 3g" is just wrong. The max G`s on the banks can exceed 5, and while rapidly shifting 6g`s in short periods can do a number on your brain and spine, they don`t have the same effect as 20 second long 5g`s have on your muscular system.

F1 is without a doubt about getting tackled by a linebacker over and over again throughout the course of a football game. It requires a certain amount of pain threshold, and the physique to get back up. Nascar is as close to soccer as americans will allow. It IS a slow burn.

"She`s always got a chip on her shoulder." Yeah, because people like YOU only refer to her as sexy when you`re talking about her abilities as a professional race car driver. I`m sure if you called her a sexy spokesperson for GoDaddy, she`d be fine with it. But you call her pretty and sexy when she`s trying to win a race, and she has a problem with that.

Well, I guess her tomboyish face turns some guys on. But that`s ok. She has that kind of look where you know she either got her dad`s looks or she has a brother that looks a lot like her. So you go to pick her up for a date and her brother answers the door and you`re stopped for a moment wondering what equipment is under her hood. No, not that hood.
I know it hard to believe, but constant excessive G forces both require and facilitate high physical performance. [..] Can`t say for certain, but I do know of a number of F-1 driver`s who couldn`t cut it at Nascar because the velocity of the car`s had such a large impact on their ability to handle said car.
That sounds odd, as Nascar drivers get up to about 3g and it`s consistent in direction, whereas F1 drivers get up to about 6g and will get Nascar levels of g-force in rapidly varying directions.

Also, the speed of the two types of racing car is about the same, with an F1 car capable of slightly higher top speed.

Velocity is, strictly speaking, a different thing to speed. It`s definitely much more of a factor in F1 because there`s far more changing of direction.

The purpose or her speech was to get everyone talking...she knows she`s being hypocritical.

Whores always know how to string people along.

Reminds of the girls you see on the beach that wear a G-string bikini, then yell at a guy for looking at her.
You reap the benefits of your looks from everything else Go Daddy, swim suit covers, etc. You don`t want to be viewed in a certain way, don`t create the image of that view yourself, then complain about it.

I want her to do well because I am female too and NASCAR is traditionally male. But seriously, she should not try to deny that her looks are part of why she is so popular with many male NASCAR fans.

"Athlete?"

Find a mildly overweight nascar driver.

I know it hard to believe, but constant excessive G forces both require and facilitate high physical performance. Perhaps not on the level of F-14 fighter pilots, perhaps moreso as I`m pretty sure most nascar races last longer then the average sortie did during the start of the iraq war. Can`t say for certain, but I do know of a number of F-1 driver`s who couldn`t cut it at Nascar because the velocity of the car`s had such a large impact on their ability to handle said car.

I hate to say it, but Patrick has obviously used her, uh, assets to good advantage in her career. Without doing it, she may well not be in the position she is now, because sponsors want a star who looks good in their ads. It`s kind of a soft version of sleeping your way to the top, and she really doesn`t have much ground to stand on when she complains of being described as "sexy."

D Patrick is a tard. I appreciate trying to break down barriers and all that (minority so yea I get it) but telling people to stop calling you sexy but then doing ads that make her look sexy and the entire purpose of her being in the ad is that she is (somewhat) good looking is tarded.

she is being a tard, is a tard and still sucks at NASCAR.

Compare those results with the results for Michelle Mouton

Also, compare the race results. Michelle Mouton competed at the very top level and won, repeatedly. She raced Group B rally. Group B rally, the racing competition for drivers who were brave enough to try it and skilled enough to survive it. She retired when it was banned because other racing was too tame.

Google image search results for Danica Patrick

Either someone is somehow very busy faking pictures of her or she`s busy gaining publicity by potraying herself as sexy, directly contradicting what she`s saying.

Which is it? I`ve barely heard of her, so I don`t know.

So...the pictures claimed to be of her in this video are fake?

Drives cars...and poses in her underwear, etc

If you`re going to complain about a particular kind of depiction, don`t have yourself depicted that way.

She`s got a point, though. It`s always "sexy". Yes, an athlete is likely to be sexy. After all, they are going to be in excellent health and have an excellent body. But lazy writers go on and on about it with women, much more so than with men.

It does have one good point, though. If I`m browsing for books and I see the word "sexy" in a review comment on the back, I can put it back on the shelf and be fairly sure I`m not missing anything I`d want to read.

Danica Patrick...she`s that mildly successful racing driver who`s only famous because she`s female, right?
