"My great-grandmother is somehow both a Morman and racist.. (Can someone explain THAT combo?)"

Have you even glanced at their scriptures? The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is VERY racist.

"And [God] had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people, the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them. And thus saith the Lord God; I will cause that they shall be loathsome unto thy people, save they shall repent of their iniquities." (2 Nephi 5:21)

They think black is a curse from God for being bad.

That`s not a stat about the administration, that`s a stat about the government. There are a number of things they could be upset about that aren`t going to make them vote Republican.

jtrebowski: I believe the 2008 statistic was that 87% of black people voted for Obama.

But..

A newly released NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds that 49 percent of African-Americans feel the country is headed in the right direction, versus 38 percent who say the country is on the wrong track.

So he is not likely to have the near unanimous support, from blacks, that he did in 2008.

Um, has anyone suggested `Blackdonalds` yet? I think this is just a bit patronising. Micky D`s should stick to doing junk-food, not moralising. Probably not thought through carefully before implementation.
So there.

As far as McDonald`s Corp`s move in this direction, I can only say that February is recognized as "Black History Month" by the U.S. government. I can attest that they changed every single "motivational" poster in their regional office for this month.

They also have more people employed at high levels based off this one aspect of the employee.

Qualification.

I have never worked in a more ethnically diversified environment in my life. (This includes military bases, courthouses, and hospitals.)

In just ONE regional office I have met more people that I wish I could have been than in the entire 13 years I`ve been working in I.T.
The reason I’m not in those positions is because I chose to act and dress a certain way. Period.
I potentially had “white privilege” working for me, and I chose to instead, “rebel” against the mainstream. All it got me was years of my life wasted proving I wasn’t t

ME. <end 1st post>

I changed. I got a normal haircut and normal clothes. I still have the stigma of an F.B.I. record attached to my name at 32 which I acquired at 15.

As far as race is concerned, you will meet none more racist than older people in the deep south. Slavery may not have still been around, but segregation was. We all have deep family ties, and if your grandparents went through either side of that fight, they are still fighting it. My great-grandmother is somehow both a Morman and racist.. (Can someone explain THAT combo?)

I`ve been called worse things by octogenarian African-Americans than "cracker", WHILE I was fixing their computer..

It is a sad realization, but some ideas are so deep rooted, they only die when those that hold onto them die.

I wish this were not the case, but sadly it seems to be.

I rarely comment on this site, but I am drawn to do so now. I am in the unique position of being on all sides of this matter. I am in fact a Caucasian male, but I grew up in both rural Georgia, and a predominantly African-American portion of Florida. On top of which I am also currently an outside support technician for McDonalds` regional corporate office. I hold several high level technical certifications yet no degrees. I have tested at genius level on multiple I.Q. tests, yet am a high school dropout with a G.E.D. My family stole food from a farm next door while I was growing up, yet as an adult I am permitted access to more highly restricted areas than most government employees. I have had ZERO "White Privilege" my entire life. I was chased out of school by student and teacher alike. I was refused entrance to anything beyond community college. I was disqualified for student loans because my mother wouldn`t cosign. Why; because I dressed and acted like a thug. What changed

My point is it`s not worth noting. My point is who the hell cares? It`s completely irrelevant in a world where we`re trying to abolish racial boundaries. What do we gain by acknowledging it over and over again? "Oh yeah, our ancestors did that. It was bad. End of story." That`s all there really is to say about it.

@aroc91 - I don`t even know where to start with you. Committed?! Dangling it over you?! If that`s how you feel then... I merely brought up a point I thought was worth noting. For you to get all butt-hurt over it is kind of ridiculous. Obviously slavery is bad, but to push it under the rug and play like it never happened is also pretty bad. That`s all my point was about, and suddenly that`s `dangling over your heads`? If only bringing up the point causes that kind of reaction....

"If you really thought that I meant slavery is still alive and well, maybe you should come back when you`ve realized that the term `we` can apply not only to an age group, but a group as a whole, such as... I don`t know... the US?"

Are you kidding me? Is that seriously what you gathered from that? My point is talk of slavery should have ended when slavery ended, especially once the generation involved died. Slavery`s bad. Case closed. That`s all there is to say. We don`t need to keep bringing it up, so I don`t know why you`re so committed to saying it`s relevant and dangling it over our heads saying "look at what our ancestors did!" It`s implied that it`s bad, we don`t need to discuss that it was bad.

"It`s extraordinarily screwed up class envy to want to remain poor and uneducated."

I dont believe they want to stay uneducated and jobless, they just dont want an education that white people started and dont want to "work like a slave for the man".

Reminds me ALOT of any time an Arab nation refuses to accept a change because it is "western".

In a rare move, I have to agree with Crackr, MLK would be appalled at the current state of the Black community. I believe MLK would have a beat down-Drag out with the biggest initiator in the black community, the so-called rev al sharpton.

@ trajik, I get the idea of what you`re saying, but "White Privilege" has a definite meaning. "Advantages one gets for being White." That article you sight goes into sociological conditions other than advantage/privilege. It covers history, progeny, etc. But that`s not what I mean when I say "White Privilege". To the man on the street, privilege means you get something special or extra. It has nothing to do with historical figures looking as they do.

So again, I say there is no White Privilege. Not in the context of what those words put together acually mean. If deep-thinkers want to interpret it like the Bible and add a whole bunch of meaning to it that is not inherant, I can`t help that.

Tell the white guy who was passed up for promotion at work because a less qualified black woman was selected {mandated} by Affirmative Action that he get "White Privilege". He`s likely to hit you.

I have to say, Blacks fought really hard, in the 60`s, for an end to segregation and to be treated equally. Now most are into self-segregation and developing a separate black identity.

That is not what MLK Jr. was fighting for and it`s a national shame that integration hasn`t occurred. Those blacks that do integrate or educate themselves are seen as traitors and `bourgeois`, aka boojee. It`s extraordinarily screwed up class envy to want to remain poor and uneducated.

...I went to an almost all black middle school and yes, the lighter skinned black girls were made fun of and called white. Being white was a bad thing and lucky lucky I was the palest blonde hair blue eyed kid ever. Middle school was horrible.

On a side note, the difference in ads McDonalds runs on any other channel vs BET is actually pretty funny.

Personlly I think we should all be comfortable to celebrate our heritage if it is taught to us to do so-no matter what skin color. I celebrate my Cajun influences but my far back family comes from Germany on both sides. I`m not going to go to Oktoberfest and be like "my people! Yay!" because I wasn`t raised into German culture any way whatsoever. So I`ll stick with what I know :)

When you`re attacked by a racist bigot promoting racism against you, you`ve every right to be defensive. It`s well past time for people to at least make a start on making racism a bizarre custom of the past, something that future generations will read about at school and not really understand because it`s fundamentally quite insane and they haven`t been conditioned to think it makes sense.

Those of us who want that to happen some day do need to promote it publically and particularly clearly when it comes to socially accepted racism, like jamie76`s racism, and to start trying to rescue the concept of equality from the bigots who have usurped and corrupted it so they can abuse it to promote irrational prejudice and discrimination, like jamie76 is doing.

"In fact, white people take these things for granted, when people of any other color may actually have to struggle for the opportunities."

We take it for granted because, in a small example, we dont bitch about the color of a character on a greeting card. White people will buy a card with ANY COLOR of person, character, or anything as long as it fits the point of the card. People of other color, primarily blacks, struggle with it because they decide too. They decide that everything must be separate, they decide that the color on the card makes a difference......

......Hell these f.ucking people are now arguing over the darkness of their dark skin. They are discriminating themselves based on the TONE OF THEIR BLACK!!! Just look up the Battle of the Complexion. You want to find the true source of racism in 2012 as a black person? Look in a mirror.

WHAT THE HOLY F.UCK?!?! Are you really trying to reference the work of a person that is complaining because a group of people are not LOSING rights?

That entire PDF is a victimization list. Its an assumption that "White Men" dont have to worry about any of this when in reality, ALL COLORS have these things to worry about. All of it can be changed. All of it can be experienced and alot of it, is just complaining about getting something based on personal appearance.

The BET (Black Entertainment Television) Network. Where is the "WET" ? Such a thing would be banned from the airwaves.... cablewaves... whatever.

Well, to be fair, the Jews DO own Hollywood. the Jews also tend to separate themselves into their own subculture. But when the time arises, say, in everyday life, they become an integral part of society. they hold on to their differences while being a population as a whole.

Look, if blacks really want to separate based onn color, as that is their decision, then they are destined for a subculture that reminds me of, oh I dont know, maybe Afghans, Isrealies and Palestinians. Basically, tribe culture.

As far as wok and jobs are concerned, did anyone even think for a second that because of the quickness to pull the bullschit race card that it is actually not cost effective to hire alot of blacks? All of the rules put into place, all of the changes that have to be made because of "Special Edicts" actually bring down profit margins to the point that hiring a black person that (dresses, talks, acts) might call racism on anything is not preferable over a person of ANY OTHER ETHNICITY that isnt going to call race just because something doesnt go their way?

You are doing this crap to yourselves, and to bring back the topic of this post, this McDs crap being acceptable is a PERFECT example of lack of integration.

Uhhh ok Trajik, allow me to debunk your entire statement.

In response to statement number:

1- Any race can do that, but whites do it the LEAST

2- Anyone with the credit availability, money, proof of job and further proof on no government handouts can do the same. (Bailouts hurt credit)

3- People are unpleasent to those that give them reason to be, ANY color.

4- ANY Color that dresses, acts, talks like a dirtbag will be treated as such. I dont see generally well dressed blacks getting harrased

5- Any Race can again see that. Where the majority is white, you see white people. Where the Majority is Black, you see blacks in the newspaper. Same with ANY other color.

So NONE of what you tried to put represents white privilege, its just another person preaching a gospel of victimization.

"I`m simply saying that in your initial post, you made it seem as if the `misgivings and shortcomings` was a reference to slavery,"

Are you insane? That entire statement was preceded by examples of speech, dress and actions. Nothing to do with slavery. Slavery is not a misgiving or a shortcoming as they had no choice in that. Though EVERY black person seems to forget that not only white men sold Blacks, and not every black man that sold them was forced to do so. Nooooooo you wouldnt want to remember that would you.

But generally being unprofessional is going to leave you with unprofessional things. Blaming other people for those things will keep you from learning what professionalism really is, thus spiraling you around the same bullcrap until someone decides, "Oh, its my actions, not someone elses", and suddenly a whole WORLD of possibilities open up when say, oh I dont know, you stop looking for handouts?

@Gerry - I think you are taking the social definition of white privilege. In fact, there is white privilege, even if it doesn`t seem like it. Examples:
1. I can if I wish arrange to be in the company of people of my race most of the time.2. If I should need to move, I can be pretty sure of renting or purchasing housing in an area, which I can
afford and in which I would want to live.
3. I can be pretty sure that my neighbors in such a location will be neutral or pleasant to me.
4. I can go shopping alone most of the time, pretty well assured that I will not be followed or harassed.
5. I can turn on the television or open to the front page of the paper and see people of my race widely
represented.

Among others. So things we take for granted are not really available to members of other races, and that counts as being `white privilege`.

@Steelgrid - Don`t get me wrong - I`m not saying that it needs to be an issue. I`m saying the exact opposite, that it needs to go away. And yes, almost every race/ethnicity/group EVER has at one point or another been enslaved. I`m simply saying that in your initial post, you made it seem as if the `misgivings and shortcomings` was a reference to slavery, in which you were wrong. I see now that was not the point you made. Slavery needs to be forgotten, because it happened to everyone. But to say that it had no impact, or meant nothing is taking it too far.

jamie76
"only white people think that programs created to help minorities level the uneven playing field is racist."
That used to be true. Now the average black person in the US is middle class. They HAVE overcome but the minute Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton admit that they are out of a job because they stand on the backs of the people they (mis)represent.

White privelage? Where?
Is there a special college fund for white students only? NO
Are there low interst loan programs from the government for White Owned Businesses? NO
Are there white-only colleges? NO
Do all those things exist for "people of color"? YES

In the 1960`s you`d be correct, but now things are differant. Not advantage to being white nor disadvantage to being "of color".

And to continue harping on Jamie... Getting a scholarship for college while being a white male is the hardest thing possible because all the scholarships are for females only, or for blacks only.
Anyone and everyone can apply to the same scholarships that I can, but I can`t apply for the same scholarships that a black female can; yet you are asking for equality?

If you want to be equal, act equal.
Affirmative action was a good thing until about the mid-90`s, now it is bullsnit.

No to be fair, Jamie, I`ve read a lot of your comments and a good portion of them are insightful, even when I disagree, but your attitude towards race, which I say doesn`t exist, is appalling and stereotypical.

At what point has ANY race not been enslaved? Ok, so slaves were owned, its a terrible unspeakable and goddamnit better be unrepeatable act by our countrymen. BUT, whites were not the only sellers of slaves. they may have been the only buyers, but many Black and Chinese made ALOT of money from the slavery trade to America.

The Black community is also not an enslaved race. The current situation they are experiencing is by their own hand. hey do you know what happens when a Black person stops shouting RACE RACE, steps up, fixes their life and tries to improve the lives around them? If you want to be treated as equal, then be equal, pure and simple. Its not the "white" way. its not working " for the man", its being human. Its being in a society. Its being a goddamn American.

"I would like to see the freak out if there was a 365white.com haha, white people don`t even have a history month :/"

Thats because we are not so self loathing that we need a history month to remind us that a FEW of our color did some good. We dont need to inspire our youth that was taught by their parents, that there is a better way then how they were raised.

One further point @Jamie...

So you think that, if there was an all white site, it would be racist because we apparently own everything? First of all where are your numbers? Where is your proof? Ohhhh I get it, you are just going off what everyone else (probably of your color) has told you. You are feeding off of a profile, oh but dont profile you!!

Hypocritical hypocrite is hypocritical....

....Cont @ Jamie

People like you really piss me off. Its people that think like you that continue the tradition of racism. Its people like you that continue the tradition of color separation. I tell you what, no matter of white privilege is going to help a white person that acts completely ghetto. No white person is going to receive anything if they do not take care of themselves and INTENTIONALLY alienate the world around them.

But you go ahead and keep on blaming everyone else ok? When the cops feel its too dangerous to enter a neighborhood, you blame everyone else ok? When you cannot find out who killed your cousin because nobody believes what any of you have to say, you go ahead and blame someone else ok? When you cant find a job, because you walk, talk, dress, and act like a complete dirtbag, you keep blaming everyone else ok?

@Jamie,

Yeah because its our fault you cannot pronounce simple words right (ASK not Axe), You like to think that school is a "white education", your retard accent is a "Culture" even though it is completely unprofessional and unmarketable. The majority of you cannot do anything without resorting to yelling and violence, you need things like "Black History Month, BET TV, and a "Level playing field" to make up for your own misgivings and shortcomings. You people blame everyone else for the CULTURE and MENTALITY that you breed into your children. hell you even have those amongst you that think computers are a white/asian conspiracy!!!

Becoming a workable part of society is not a "white" action. If you want a better life, if you want things to be equal, THEN F.UCKING ACT EQUAL.

Or you can keep preaching your gospel of victimization and sit in the back blaming everyone else who has taken the time to better themselves.

Thing is I had to pay for my entire college tuition with no help because of the color of my skin and my ancestors were given just as much disrespect as blacks in America when they came over here hell it was even worse for them in Europe.

only white people think that programs created to help minorities level the uneven playing field is racist.

you all need to read about white privilege and what it means and why you benefit from it.

you may not have ever owned slaves or endorsed programs in the past that held minorities back BUT O AURE AS F ARE REAPING THE REWARDS of your past relatives hard work whether you know it or not.

white people

you own nearly everything, have total control, so no this is NOT racist and yes opening a white only website would be racist because again, OU FREAKING OWN EVERYTHING>>>>

you have ever advantage you could ask for if you are make and white in this country and hell if you are tall and good looking that helps even more.

it is OK white people for miniortities to create programs that help them level the playing field.

PLEASE do yourself a favor and google the following term

WHITE PRIVILEGE

and then have the balls to read the articles about it.

then come back and complain but not till then.

What would have happened when they started a 365white website?

Be honest.

It`s a nice initiative but face it, positive discrimination is discrimination nonetheless.

McRacist...and not even against black people. Just let it go, man. If we stop worrying about what is and isn`t PC, and instead just treat everyone the same, racism will go away.

If we stop pointing out "That person is BLACK, so we need to act differently around them!" The tension will ease, and we can move on as humans. Because, really, this is all just immature--whether you`re a bigot, or whether you`re doing...this.
