It`s theorized that "real" dragons, did exist in prehistoric time and would have looked much like an alligator, with small wings. Of course the wings would be useless because they`re far too heavy to fly. I think I saw something about it on the Discovery Channel a long time ago.

Justin, while interesting I have to argue that we probably would have found a winged alligator fossil by now if that were the case. I don`t doubt that what you say could be true, but the evidence supporting it, at the very least, has not been found yet. That I know of anyway.

TKD_Master: Even the evolutionists will admit that they`ve found less than 10% of the fossils of the `evolutionary tree`.

I`m not saying that dragon`s existed, but the fossil record has huge voids. Unbeknownst creatures are being found with new digs all the time.

It`s easy to see how the idea of dragons was conceived when you see pictures like this, they are after all a pastiche of many different animals. Bat like wings for instance, bird like talons and alligator like scales. I would say it`s highly doubtful that dragons existed in terms of the legendary concept of them but rather that many dragon like creatures over the centuries have inspired the dragon myth.

Any "theorising" about imagined prehistoric dragons looking like winged crocodilians is, unfortunately, absolute fantasy based on a complete lack of understanding of evolutionary principles. Discovering a 6-limbed dragon wouldn`t just be like finding a new species of extinct horse - it`d mean suddenly discovering that terrestrial vertebrates evolved from fish along two completely separate lines, once with 4 limbs (covering ALL known terrestrial vertebrates), and once with 6 limbs. And this `new` line would have to have developed for tens of millions of years to reach a "higher" form like a dragon without leaving *any* fossils. True, the fossil record is full of gaps, but this would have to be a gap the size of, say ... the entire catalog of known dinosaur and proto-dinosaur species. I`ve been trying to figure out how to derive a six-limbed form from terrestrial vertebrates since I was a kid (for a faniciful personal project), but it breaks all established rules of e

No dragons are real. These creatures evolved from dragons.

It was believed that dragons were percieved to be real, cept its common knowledge that they were land lizards, like crocs or gators.
