I`d keep the 26k and use it to party like a goddamn rock star in vegas.

What if the seller sold a safe that turned out to be busted and rusted beyond any usefulness? Would he have said, "Okay, I`ll give you half back?" I doubt it very much. Caveat vendor, buddy!

So he`s trying to publicly shame the guy into giving him a cut by going on the news and saying he`d do the same. Yeah sure you would buddy, I`m sure you would go straight back to where you got it and split it with them. I`ll believe that when my sh&t turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbert.

Hey IAB`ers, i just found this old treasure chest, i can`t get it open. But if anyone is interested, i`m selling it for a hundred bucks. Any takers?

You didn`t open the safe. It`s not your money, it never was your money. You`re lying when you say you would give the money up. It would be different if it was your life savings or something, but it isn`t. Stop your bitching.

Fatninja01-"Well why would you sell a safe that you couldnt open"

For the same reason people sell butt-ugly Louis Vuitton handbags..there`s someone who want to buy it.

There`s someone out there who:
a) can open it and use it.
b) is curious enough to purchase to see what`s inside.

A dumber question would be `Why would you keep a safe that you couldn`t open?` Besides as an anchor or a real ugly paperweight, there`s not much use for it. This guy got over a hundred bucks for it. He has no reason to complain.

Without the combination (and wthout an expert peterman to hand) the safe could only be opened by destroying it.

So the seller took a gamble; make a few bucks by selling it unopenned. The buyer gambled that there might be something inside worth more than a couple of hundred.

One gamble paid off. The loser has no call to whine.

MrOrange-"Who the F*** doesn`t know where they left 26K? "

The seller never claimed it was HIS $26K. It very well could have been one that he had picked up at a storage unit auction or such. Many people do it all the time.

He sold it `as is`. The seller covered himself with `What you see is waht you get, no returns, no money back.

Well, that works both ways. The seller purchased the safe AND ITS CONTENTS. He could have found $26 million and he would still have been under no obligation to return any of it.

Lastest news is that there was no money found. Of course, it`s the SELLER saying that...he just may be trying to look less of an idiot (in his own mind. I don`t consider unknowingly filled with money to be an idiotic move. He makes money by selling stuff on ebay. By not opening the safe he 1) saves himself the money of having it opened and 2) runs a chance of getting a higher bid on an `unopened safe, possibly full of valuable ite

Yeah right he would give half the money away.

The buyer is probably a troll anyway, I`d make up that story if I bought a safe and there was nothing in it. Excellent troll.

But he bought the safe and did`nt bother to try and open it, and wanted to flip it. He agreed to the selling price. Though crap dude. You do not deserve anything that was inside something you don`t own anymore. Looks good on that idiot.

By all legal, ethical, and moral rights, this money belongs to the buyer.

as far as I`m concerned it`s his fault for not trying to get into the safe. he`s rude to even ask for the money back.

Who the F*** doesn`t know where they left 26K?

on a side note, wouldn`t the buyer have to declare having found that money to avoid having "dirty money" ? (sorry ppl don`t know the appropriate term)

thats what you get for charging the dude nearly as much for shipping as to buy.

I frigging HATE people who have ridiculous shipping rates to get guaranteed money

Who honestly has a locked safe with no idea of the contents... and doesn`t bother to open it? Even if after shaking it and feeling nothing I would really want to look inside

If he wanted to keep all the money, he shouldn`t have told the seller about it. That`s just cruel.

One time I bought a sofa of craigslist and it had a $100 visa gift card between the cushions. I thought about it for a few days, then I returned it. The seller had forgot it even existed, but was grateful nonetheless. Life`s too short to be a dick.

The buyer should have not said anything, and then no one would be the wiser.

Yeah he should have kept his mouth shut about the money inside. But he`s within his rights to keep the money!

Here is the seller feedbackApparently the buyer only claims $6,000.00 and the seller claims it was a joke.

The buyer totally deserves it, he wasn`t buying the safe he was buying whatever was inside it since the owner didn`t know how to open it and there was probably no way to get into it without destroying it.
