@dead mind. i dont understand the racist comment to be quite honest. im a white guy. yes a white african! shocking i know! also the rave rap band thing doesnt make any sense. im not talking about genre here. Zeff is what people in south africa call bands like this that try to intentionally sound stupid. Zeff means common, cheap and generally sub-standard.

These guys are a joke in South Africa. Thier home state. If you wNt me to translate for you just send me the lyrics. Not sure why you would want to though. In SA they call them a zeff rap act. Which basically means trailer trash coke heads who cant do anything of value

I have to admit that I`m rather partial to DA. Wat Pomp is a pretty good tune.

I tend to view them as part satire, part performance art, and just a drop of seriousness, (like Angilion says the song "Evil Boy" is about a pretty serious topic).

I would call them an acquired taste

Achualy, if shes not lipsyncing she cant dance around like the rest of the lipsyncers... its simple acually. it would messup her voice n stuff.
But yeah, they could use bakround dansers or somthing.

As I suspected, they f*cking suck. I guess the girl thinks looking like an idiot makes up for having zero stage presence. Atleast jumpsuit meth head guy is trying, too bad he`s lacks any talent whatsoever.

Oops, wrong Die Antwoord song. That`s from "Fok Julle Naiiers", where DJ Hi-Tek`s extremely subtle lyrics are apparently comments from Mike Tyson. The song title, apparently, means "drat you draters".

Die Antwoord have decided that subtlety is not for them.

The more I watch them/listen to them...the more I like them. They are an acquired taste i think. I love that he dances like I do too :P

Letterman`s over-40 just-going-to bed demographic must have practically pooed themselves. Nightmare fuel......

That was actually quite listenable.

I like Letterman. I couldn`t see them on any other show. Except maybe springer, but not performing.

Sing in English and Afrikaan. Have Japanese katakana on pantleg. At least that is what it looks like? Sort of. I`m so confused. But...

Interesting.

I don`t quite agree. There are some serious aspects to the background of their music (look into the meaning of "Evil Boy" for a good example).

The music and the videos and the characters, though...I agree, nothing serious there at all.

In case anyone is wondering, they really are just characters, not real people. Ninja and Yolandi are characters all the time they`re on stage or on camera and DJ Hi-tec is a character in this song (made very clear by the mask, the altered voice and the fact that all his lyrics are quotes from someone else).
Were they "singing" in English? I think I understood 2 words out of that whole ordeal.
They use a mixture of English and Afrikaans, often in the same sentence. Both are common languages in the part of South Africa they`re from and being bilingual in them is also common, so in their home market it`s not a problem to use both together. They just pick whichever language they think fits better in any particular part of the song.

On top of that, they speak English with an accent that`s unfamiliar in most of the world and they seem to emphasise the accent for the songs (it`s much less obvious in interviews).

I still haven`t found lyrics for this with translations of the Afrikaans. Someone said it`s on their website, but I couldn`t find it.

I slightly enjoy "evil boy" but all their other stuff sucks (my opinion).. I kinda would rather watch the cast of Jersey Shore fighting while playing Justin Bieber in the background..

While I still don`t think Die Antwoord is really Zef music, I respect them and really like some of their songs (this one included). It`s one of those bands you either love or hate (get or don`t get).
The word serious has no meaning when it comes to Die Antwoord btw.

I watched part of it a second time and I can`t decide if they are lampooning rap groups or if they are serious. If they are taking themselves seriously it`s pretty sad and also doesn`t say much for the state of the music business. I just hope they are doing a Borat.

I don`t know why I`m captivated by D.A., I just am.

PS: I f*cking love Letterman`s halftime comment and the lack of reaction by the band. Perfect all the way around.
