Yeah, I`ve been around for years. Between the trolling and the `no one is going to change anyone`s mind` via forum responses, I tend to sit back and watch the chaos. I think it`s funny even if a post `isn`t` religious but the word `God` is tossed somewhere in the title or description it gets somewhere around 70 angry religious debate responses. It`s ridiculous.

EgalM - They may travel till they find food, but they don`t (or have never reported to have) jumped off a cliff to do so. If this was true, they would have all brought themselves to extinction by now. Cows and other large herding animals are more likely to charge off cliffs during a stampede because of the whole larger mass = longer time to reduce speed to 0. That and cows are pretty stupid.

#8, Lemmings will travel untill they find food, so they will leap off cliffs and swim till they drown.

#2, There are at least two people I`ve seen who are blind and can use echo location to get around.

In other words, the video might be wrong, but everyone is talking about a different critter.

Also, I`m not sure about the frog one. I haven`t tried it, though, either. I`m pretty sure others have... without cutting out its brains.

My two cents. I rarely post on here.[/quote]

Holy sh*t. I remember you. I rarely post on here either. Most of my posts are from before the split. It`s always nice to see some folks from the past pop up every now and then.

Lemmings suicide march was actually documented only once, in a nature movie created by Walt Disney. What was also documented but not as widely known due to Disney PR. Behind the scene Film of this documentory was shot showing stage hands using boards to herd them off the cliff.

All three of these are called Daddy Long Legs in different areas. What I was taught was the following:

DaddyLongLegs

MayFly

Other Spider

It`s like coke/pop/soda. The first two are not spiders. The first one is an arachnid, however.

WeePee, the misconception is that they can`t see color at all, when they can. But then again, color blind humans have the same misconception about them (only very few can`t see colors at all, but people wrongly assume every color blind person can`t see any colors).

so if dogs cannot see red, that would make them color blind. wheres the misconception?

arachnida which includes spiders, mites, ticks, scorpions, etc.

SO, not all arachnids are spiders. but all spiders are arachnids. Spiders are actually under a different class all apart from the Opiliones, named araneae.

IIN CONCLUSION. . all tims are johns and all jims are johns, but not all tims are jims, even though they all came from johns.

except some daddy long legs ARE spiders, there are multiple arachnids that are referred to as `daddy long legs`, one is a spider, the other isn`t

@Lillim

I disagree... while the rest of your post is accurate (no doubt referring to what we call Crane Flies)... the `harvestmen` which you have correctly identified as coming from the Order Opiliones are not spiders. They are as close to being spiders as the scorpions or solifuges are and therefore to label them as such is probably not accurate. You might argue that the Pholcidae ARE spiders (true) and are often called daddy-long-legs (also true) but then you would have to decide which is seen more and therefore called more by this term so you can label them generally. Given the fact that we did indeed see a harvestman in the picture (Opiliones) I stand by my original statement according to this post :)

(and yes I also realise no one cares)

Cute :) Knew about the dogs but I still think they can smell where the ball is after they`ve used it a few times regardless of colour.

Cheers, they also made a mistake. Yes, Daddy-long-legs are spiders, either of the Pholcidae or Opiliones families. There is, technically, a variant of insect called a daddy-long-legs, but only in a select few countries, and they look nothing like spiders.
