Why Ron Paul is Obama`s Toughest Competitor

Submitted by: madest 5 years ago in

If Ron Paul loses the nomination and runs as an independent it could be hard for Obama to be reelected.

It`s because Ron Paul supporters are functionally retarded. His policy is to do less than nothing. Having him as President will not be the Utopia you think it will be. He is not a Libertarian, he is all the worst parts of neo-Republicanism packaged up in a tidy little bundle who will do his very best to drat all of us.

Oh, please....I wish a motherf*cker would run a conservative, libertarian Tea Party darling as a 3rd party candidate. Cavuto`s just giving his fringe audience a tongue bath.

This is why Ron Paul scares me more than any other candidate.

He`s got a point. The same idealistic youth who voted for Obama might very well decide to vote for Paul this time `round.

the formation of a middle party in the States might make sense if it splits the right,

but it doesn`t make sense if they`re the same candidates,

Goth,
you might be just a bit to young to know that stranger things have happened...oh wait, Obama was elected and before that happened people were saying the same thing about his chances that you are saying about RP`s...

Gerry I usually enjoy your commentary but then you say a vote for Colbert is a throwaway. At one time I may have agreed but given the current political options I would have though Colbert was the obvious and most blatantly ONLY choice at having a remote chance at seeing decisions for the publics interest

Nobody in their right mind is going to elect Ron Paul. The only people who genuinely believe he is going to be elected are the rabid Paulbot fanboys/girls of his. Obama will most definitely be re-elected, like it or not. Not that I necessarily like Obama either, but I`d rather have someone inexperienced than someone who is absolutely drating batpoo insane.

I think if Ron Paul runs as an independent it`s sure Obama will win... he would take votes from people that would normally vote for the Republican candidate, and unless an insane number of independents that would have voted for Obama switch over, too, it`s almost a sure win.

Dude, America was _never_ a Democracy! It was founded as a Republic! Trying to turn America into a Democracy has been a recent trend, leading to mob rule and horrible decisions. But MCMXCIII is correct, Americans are horribly underinformed about their congressmen and local representatives.

Romney vs Obama is like Bush vs Kerry. They are both puppets from the same club acting like they are against each other. And MCMXCIII, dude really? Our government is just jealous of your form of fascist government they can hardly stand it. Go back to your rice bowl sweety pie.

I laughed at people who think Presidents make laws. Because they totally don`t. Blame your Congress -- oh wait, you don`t even know who are the Congressmen of your state. To add to the confusion, you may also have state senate and house. So yeah, the reason why everyone is disappointed is because they put the expectation on one person who cannot do all the jobs.
Suck it, America. Your version of democracy sucks. No wait, your government isn`t a democracy.

"Fox news was even standing up for gay military members as well. When Santorum was being interviewed about gay military members, he was bashing them and fox news was even disgusted by him."

As a gay man I find this comment delusional. Fox News has a long history of pandering to the anti-gay crowd. They have been a staunch opponent of repealing DADT. Just because one political pundit stands up to Rick Santorum`s ludicrous claim (that the repeal of DADT has something to do with sex) doesn`t mean that Fox News itself shares that sentiment.

I don`t think Obama had a vision per se. He did have ideas but vision? eh I don`t know. With Ron Paul if you`ve read the constitution you know where he stands. The simplicity is brilliant and why nobody but him had thought of it earlier is beyond me.

"He`s the only politician in my life who has an actual vision."

Did you not learn from President Obama? He had a wonderful vision. But the cold hard fact of reality sets in once a President gets to Washington. It is very very hard to change our government. Most of this is because of cable news. They are partisan, when they should be journalists. Cable News paints the President to be such a monster that it makes it impossible for congress to work together. I am actually surprised Obama got as much change through as he did. It wasn`t for not trying. The media would destroy Ron Paul if he became the President making it impossible for him to also get anything done. But because Obama is a moderate he can get a hell of a lot more done than Ron Paul could. And don`t get me wrong I like some of what Ron stands for.

"I`m a democrat who would vote for Ron Paul."

I stand corrected. But you have to question the source of your link. Foxnews does everything they can to get people to not root for Paul. The sad fact is we are a two party system. If you vote for a third party candidate you are taking away votes. And according to your link you would be taking away from Obama so with your logic a vote for Ron Paul is a vote for the Republican`s.

@markust123, I`m a democrat who would vote for Ron Paul. He`s the only politician in my life who has an actual vision. Sick of politicians who react to situations depending on politics or donations. Ron Paul comes off as somewhat of a nut to me for being a doctor and not believing in evolution. But I can put that aside and vote for him. Best situation would be a Ron Paul presidency and a democratic house. Help keep his crazy in check. ---------

No he doesn`t. He is against abortion but the president doesn`t control that the courts do. He would like to see the states decide and that actually might be the answer that finally puts that question to rest for a few decades.

Yeah just another person hating on Ron Paul without actually doing any research

Ron Paul`s main ethos is personal liberty.

And I don`t even want to hear anything about him taking away women`s rights. He was a ob/gyn, don`t think too many women haters dedicate their professions to women`s health.

Every person I know that supports Ron Paul would never vote for a Democrat. That is only about five people but it is telling. I believe Ron Paul will take away far more votes from the Republican nomination than from Obama. Plus in a battle of who excites the younger generation more Obama wins hands down - he`s young and cool. The question is can he get them to the polls again?
