What trickery are Canadians up to here? Some say machinery, Yetis or maybe even aliens? Creepiness abounds.

Oh for the love of- am I the only one here from Alberta? It`s the mating call of the Blue Beaver. The Blue Beaver is an Alberta-specific breed that is most famous for only being visible to children. Whenever another American company somes to Alberta, the Blue Beaver tries to scare them away with a more menacing version of this call, but to this day it has been to no avail.

Wow, what a poor attempt. The sound of children in the background is much too distinct at certain points.

But @piperfawn, that was months ago, the sound should have passed Alberta by now...

Anyhow, it`s the echo of a train (my best guess) but it sure is CREEPY!

Whiney comment from left field:
If you say, "Kennebec, South Dakota" or "Gadsden, Alabama" to a Canadian, we might not know the town, but we instantly know you`re talking about the USA, and probably have a pretty good idea where the state is.
When an American website or publication refers to a province like Alberta, it`s invariably followed by "Canada" as if no American could be expected to have heard of the place that supplies you with more oil than Saudi Arabia.
Come on! We`ve only got 10 provinces (and three territories of which you`ve probably heard of Yukon, at least). Can`t you do us the courtesy of not treating us as if we`re overseas or something?

Everyone is just listening like it`s something they can figure out. Not worried in the least. If You really heard that sound in the middle of a forest, you would freak the hell out. FAKE!

"How do you explain the same sound in different parts of the world?"

Similar pieces of metal being stressed/dragged the same way?

If you listen closely you can just hear the squawk and clatter of a metal-tread crawler. Given that they are in piss poor timber its likely a winter road being built through that spruce bog to access oil shale. All sorts of metal items could be being towed to site that would make similar noise. My bet would be a large culvert being installed or a large empty container being moved/dragged.

Vibrating metal at any rate.

All right, here`s my theory:

It`s a woodchipper off in the distance, the sounds distorted by being carried through a layer of air in a temperature inversion. When you feed a branch into a woodchipper, it makes a similar sound until the branch is consumed. Then the operator feeds another one in. Sometimes, when the air is very still (as seen in this clip), you can get different temperature layers that funnel and distort the sounds over long distances.

Either that or yetis having sex.

Maybe it`s an intrepid gang of Bigfoot hunters with an automated call. That being said, here`s my theory about how those scenarios inevitably go down:

Squatch Hunter Team A-"Let`s blast some calls here and see what happens."

Squatch Hunter Team B-"Dude I just heard a Bigfoot! Quick, blast our calls!!"

Squatch Hunter Team A-"Dude we just got an answer!"

Squatch Hunter Teams A & B-"There`s definitely Sasquatches out there man!!!"

You remember the Old Forest? On the borders of Buckland? Folks used to say that there was something in the water that made the trees grow tall, and come alive.

It sounds like stuff whooshing by rather close by, and their reactions seem to further suggest this. I`d say it`s either some off-shot machinery (judging by their gear, as mentioned by aquaman) or pipes with uneven flow with some some interesting resonance.
