The real problem, I think, is that what women find attractive is just all over the place, so nobody can decide what objectification of men actually looks like. M_Archer is totally right, though. You can also search "Harry Potter" or "Bleach" or "Hellsing" or really way more things than I care to list here, and most of the content you will find that falls under the fanservice umbrella is, in fact, just what this comic does to Batman in an exaggerated fashion, regardless of what the character actually is supposed to look like (I`m looking at you, Snape). Or Disney... HUGE amounts of female-targeted fanservice of hypersexed male Disney characters on dA, in the vein this comic describes.

And dirtysteve: Though I agree that some women like large, muscular men, and similarly those of us over fifteen start looking at more masculine types, but... you`re male, where do you get off implying that "huge" is what most of us want, especially when the

This seems to be based on the notion that the female character here, represents the tastes of all females.
The male characters are obviously objectified.

@britt566 - Thanks, you give me hope! Maybe there are actually women out there that would be attracted to me...

The girl is wrong; men are objectified all the time.

If you don`t believe it, I heard somewhere that if you go to DeviantArt and search "Devil May Cry", it gives you all the proof you need that women enjoy men being objectified.

I`m attracted to slightly overweight middle-aged men.

as unusual as that sounds. But they also have to be strong, so I guess my tastes aren`t that unusual for a gal my age..

In comic books the characters have more muscles, wit, strength, super powers, boobs, stamina, intelligence, ... and can shoot sparks out of their behinds!

Everything is just fine - except the boobs! :p

So her counter-argument is that the "objectification" of men in comic books doesn`t exist because it`s not the right sort of "objectification" for her personally and she assumes all women have the same taste in men that she does.

Using the same argument, "objectification" of women doesn`t exist either, for the same reason.

"objectification" is a word made up purely for political propaganda reasons and was always intended to be completely sexist. It was created as a political weapon to be used against men only, so of course its users will strenuously resist any attempt to apply it equally, regardless of circumstances.

As usual in feminism, any kernel of any actual issue is drowned in aggression and bullpoo because having enemies to gain dominance over has a higher priority than addressing any issue even in the cases where there actually is an issue (as opposed to making stuff up to promote sexism).

I think ultimately it comes down to male comic illustrators writing for stereotypical fan-boys. That will take a long time to change - if ever...

... UNLESS female writers/illustrators are willing to build comics that better illustrate what they`d like to see (that`s different) and it`s shown to be commercially successful.

Follow the money, folks. That`s all it is.

To be fair Scuzoid; That search for Black Cat or Mary Jane is inherently biased on the internet. I just did I search for Wilma Flintstone.
.

The internet swings a very specific way.

Having said that:
1) Women are not only attracted to prettyboys. There`s a reason the Twilight demographic (and Jonas Brothers, and Beiber, and NSync, and NKOTB before that) is tweens.
2) This. The superhuman males are hypersexed too, it`s just that women`s tastes have changed.

Something serious like fighting Dr. Octopus or something mundane like talking about a new apartment with Peter becomes some odd fanservice where it looks like the women are posing for Playboy/Facebook pics. I stopped reading Spider-Man when I was still a teen largely due to the fact that it was(is?) this weird amalgamation of softcore porn and adrenaline action. These are two things I DO enjoy, but I`d rather have them separately where I don`t have to think about what type of emotion I should be feeling.

"Give me ONE unattractive female comic book hero that is taken seriously or is considered an actual threat to villians please...anyone?"

It doesn`t happen. I`m of the impression it doesn`t happen in computer games either. In the past, it might`ve been slightly more acceptable because women generally weren`t "allowed" in comic book/video game shops. Now with the advent of amazon.com and the internet in general, these producer`s really need to re-evaluate their market base. Take those Superman film caps Baal posted. They`re iconic male comic book poses. Now google Mary Jane or Black Cat. Any and all images you find of these two taken from the comic books, are awkward drawings with T&A and hips jutted in all sorts of odd positions.

Eh, I like all types. I sometimes like the big muscle guys. I like the lean guys. I like the fat guys. I like the scrawny guys. I can basically find just about any guy attractive if I like him personally.

Gerry1of1: "Women gripe men objectify them but no one makes Kim Kartrashian look like a ho but her."

Uh... You do realize we`re talking about comic book characters here, right? In this case it is usually the MEN making women look like a "ho", not women.

The context is missing from this comic as well, since it is a response to the objectifying of women in comics, such as what DC recently did with Starfire (see here).

Also, this "Stupid feminazi bull$hit" as you call it, was written by a man, Dave Willis. (comic source)

And finally, if some of you don`t think that many women like this kind of guy, then perhaps I should remind you of the popularity of the "Twilight" movies?

You know what? Batman IS attractive, because he`s fierce, morally strict, rich so he can provide food and shelter, protective, muscle-y without being ridiculous, and has crazy self-control. Everything a woman needs/wants whether you admit it or not.

He appeals to me as is, not this effeminate type. D:<

Batman is for people who like him, not people who kinda like him and wish he`d conform to what they want him to look like.

Lets say I was in some sort of state, where I wouldn`t go for a relationship or even have a one night stand with someone. Say I got my dick chopped off and I`m a spirit or some poo like that.
Now, to my point. I would actually in most cases enjoy looking at asses in jeans and tits in clothes. Not loose clothes as in burkas, but still pretty non revealing ones.
Because just being nude says nothing about you. What you like to dress in says a little bit more. And if you`re a tits in my face kind of girl, dressing like a look magnet. Well, that says something about you that I don`t like.

The whole idea behind the comic, Baal, was that they were talking about comic books. Sorta hard to film an actual impossibly muscled hulk when using a real human being.

When I was a teen, I was a die hard spider-man comic reader. Even back then, the men, be them heroes, villains, or normal guys were all drawn in some sorta of emotional stance. The women however were all drawn in weird T&A highlighting "poses." Like, literally every time a woman was drawn in a comic book panel, it seemed as though the artist took the pose for said woman from some past Playboy centerfold.

Kirsten Dunst, right on. Actual artist rendition of Mary Jane, never ever realistic.

Guess what? Most comic books are written for males, because males read the vast majority of comic books. So they`re going to have sexy women in them, because males tend to like that. And I`m pretty sure most women actually like it too. What`s not to like? Most female superheroes are extremely smart, competent, and deserving of respect. Yes, they happen to wear revealing clothing. So do the men. If you had bodies like theirs, you probably wouldn`t mind it so much, either. Their physiques, like the men`s, are idealized, romanticized, paradigms of human perfection. I doubt there are few women out there who don`t find Batman sexy as he is. He`s a physically fit billionaire genius crime-fighter. I know it`s fun to feel like a strong, enlightened feminist, but believing in the intended (and I think failed) message of this comic makes you come off as bitter, short-sighted, and insecure.

Stupid feminazi bull$hit.
Women gripe men objectify them but no one makes Kim Kartrashian look like a ho but her. Same for Snooki, Paris Hilton, 98% of female celebrities....

Stop blaming men and own it women. Use your girl-power and take charge of your own life instead of blaming men for your own choices.
