at least use a astronaut minifig, would have been 10 times better.

@Eddo_H You notice that dinky weather ballon but not the huge flash of light from 0:28-0:31? Since it is so dim in the second sighting, it must have been originally much closer to the Legos` guy.

This was just on our local news. They said it was a weather balloon. It burst, but a parachute saved it. It came down about 75 miles from where they launched it. But it had a GPS on it, so they could find it. They said it cost about $400.

@Eddo_H
Or a weather balloon? Or the sunlight glinting off a low orbital sattelite?

Not space. I cant stress that enough, its so very far from being in space. this is a weather balloon, not even a high altitude ballon.

I must try this now.

For an effort by a couple of schoolkids, this is pretty sweet. Recording the curvature of the Earth and black of space is as much as you could hope for with a balloon.
That`s all I wanted to point out. Now you Yanks can make more dumb comments about Canada`s space program.

@Raicuparta, because it is still spinning with the Earth as it floats up. it stays in a relative position above the launch site.

there are a bunch of other videos like these online, some of them with the full thing and much more stable, its pretty cool to watch. I never understand how they make it not fall in another continent or something.

I find these ballon videos really interesting, don`t know why.

Seems like editing that video on a green screen using movable light source to recreate the sun from some stock footage is a lot harder than filling a balloon up with air and letting it go.

Unnecessarily complex skepticism

@comp_wizard. Yeah, I was curious about that too. On their page, they say "making of video coming soon" or something like that

I can see two plausible ways of making a video like this. You can either launch your lego and camera in a weather balloon, or you can just use a blue screen and a moving light source. Anyone care to guess which method was employed here?

Just a bit higher and the Canadarm could have grabbed it.

Lets not forget there are different levels of what we call space. Good times just the same.
