jamie76: 2 years ago, I would have disagreed with you. Hell, a year ago even. But, people...take a look around you: It`s happening right now. This is NOT a wacko "conspiracy theory". We are losing our freedoms, and we are letting it happen, day by day.

TSA thugs feeling us up at the airport, all in the name of "fighting terrorism". Trying to crush our ability to communicate easily, with both SOPA/PIPA, and letting our Post Office go broke (I realize that technically, the USPS is a "private" company, but it IS also technically run by the Government). Gun laws are being restricted. Ever wonder why our military is kept oversea`s, while our newer police cadets are being trained in full-out riot control now? Seems to me that those who`d fight this, and have the weapons and training to do so...are being kept off our own soil en masse now. Wonder why that might be...

Why do police think that recording what they do is illegal and that they have the right to take your phone/camera? Do they not have to learn anything about the law before they`re hired?

police are being trained to be this way more and more. notice the military style equipment, weapons and vehicles they are purchasing nowadays like there is a give away on this stuff (for them there literally is). take into account the National Defense Athorization Act, the Patriot Act and soon to be SOPA and you realize they are training the police to handle the revolt that is coming.

we are standing on the edge of a police state, only question is, what are we going to do to get our freedom back?

Rules of engagement, like pissing on the enemy and beating live animals to death and killing innocent civilians.

I`m as big a defender of police as there is. However, from this video (and a quick Google search showing the entire unedited video)…I see absolutely NO action from that woman that warranted that level of violence from the officer. Yelling, cursing, resisting arrest, defiant gestures, possibly spitting in his face at worst...that warrants having your ass wrestled to the ground, cuffed, and hauled off to jail. But a full force right hook to the jaw? Unacceptable. It’s your job to control and diffuse through the least damaging means possible, and if that means taking some harsh words yelled at you, stink-eye, or spittle in the face, so be it. Protect and serve covers criminals too.
This guy should face punishment. Brutality charges at the very least…followed by a psych evaluation to determine if he has the temperament to do his damn job under stressful situations. Next time he might just whip his gun out and put a round in someone’s ass.

I submitted a second video of this incident. It has audio and it shows how aggressive this woman really was. And also, she doesn`t really seem to be special needs.

Nobody seen that this lady had sliced someones neck with a 8" butcher knife after she called them a big shot. This is the result of selective videotaping. Show the whole story.

Inexcusable.

Steelgrid, What? Restraining somebody in a safe, professional manner is not wasting tax payers money. It`s what we pay them for. Punching a woman to the ground because it`s a bit quicker is not a good law enforcement policy.

The officers addressed her by name and the witness was clear that she obviously had special needs. Rather than take that into account they were confrontational and then moved very quickly to thuggish violence.

as crakrJak said, there is a difference between hocking up a spitball and spraying over someones face from yelling.

I did not see any wads flying.

I believe the crux of the argument here is whether or not spitting in someone`s face is an assault. By law it is, having said that it`s not hard to accidentally have some saliva exit one`s mouth when they are that close and yelling.

So I`ll ask you IAB people, would you slap someone, like that, for spitting in your face even if it might`ve been accidental ?

My answer would be no, for the first occurrence, the second one however, wouldn`t be free.

First, this lady is special needs. The officer is obviously not trained to correctly manage a special needs person. There was never any mention of her spitting on the officer throughout any post I have found. The assault on the elderly man was described as "almost attacked an elderly man." Everyone "almost" commits a crime everyday. Next time you jag-offs are speeding, I hope the cop pulls you over and punches you in the face for your crime. Read an actual report of the incident here

While i do not know the whole back story (can`t find legitimate source) This situation could of been handled far better.

Yes, spitting in someones face should provoke a reaction, however, not a punch in the face.

The number of people with special needs is on the rise. With this emergency personal should be taught how to handle them.

Just because a special needs person may become aggressive does not mean they can control that. It is not like any other human who can say "I don`t want to be caught so I`m going to punch this cop and run.

Some special needs people can be provoked by grabbing them, or bumping them. In this scenario it does not seem to be the case.

I think this cop needs a "back to basics" to learn how people should be handled. Sure, immobilize. her but don`t punch her in the face. Save that for the hardened bad asses.

@chance13 - Again, still not a reason to punch her in the face. Pull arms behind back, place handcuffs on woman and arrest her. There`s two of them, punching her in the face was just lazyness."

well they could spend 5-10 minutes trying to detain her wasting taxpayers money per minute, or jack her, tie her, and continue on with their day.

She spit on him, he has the right to defend himself from ANOTHER mouthful of spit. She could be diseased, he doesnt know.

"white people "

the hell?

Where did she supposedly spit in the Officers face? I`ve watched the video several times and have yet to see this. I see her yelling in his face, but no spitting.

@reignblazer You can`t call it harassment if you are breaking the law. Regardless of your personal beliefs on the matter, it is the law and if you are breaking it, you are subject to a fine. If that bothers you, then slow down. I choose to speed and when I get a ticket, I pay it. Simple as that.

Obviously, there are good cops and bad cops, just like every other occupation in the world. This cop may not be a bad one but he made a bad decision. Nothing that lady was doing deserved that reaction.

Personally, I always give officers the benefit of the doubt. Anyone who is willing to come and protect me and my family, deserves as much.

"Why are people suddenly hating cops?"

People hating cops is neither sudden or groundless.

Mostly because they are very zealous to fine/harass people over trivial offenses (you were doing 73 in a 70 zone) but won`t make a sound when they have to get the REAL bad people (drug dealers, criminal organizations etc. Because ofc they would fight back..

...and no mention of the 911 call about the woman attacking an elderly person being the reason that the police were there in the first place. Also no mention of her trying to push past him (which was visible on the video)...just another attempt to inflame the public against the police...

Excessive. He and his partner were in the advantageous position . No excuse.

His attempt to get the video from the citizen who recorded it is just another example of Police who either don`t know the law, or DO, and lie about it hoping YOU don`t know.

I just posted a long rant about how this cop needed to hang blah blah blah.....

...then I heard she spit in his face...

**Delete**

That bitch could have had hepatitis, or any other pathogen that can be carried and passed through saliva. This constitutes to an assault. The punch constitutes self defense.

Why are people suddenly hating cops? Cops have a pooty job, man. The stupid woman wasn`t respecting the cop and was in his face cussing him out. He hit her. Is it called for? Probably not, but neither is disrespect for police officers.
