A) black people were the only slaves in the history of the world

B) slavery is not history

Victim, it says you are from Africa. Let me guess South Africa, and you were not a big fan of the ending of Apartheid.

madest uses the same sort of logic people use to justify racism to make his "point".

that`s a shockingly high level of stupid you`ve obtained over the years

if 2 uppity negros complain about the math homework questions 5 times a day, how many times a week did the uppity negros complain? (remember not to factor in saturday or sunday, no school on those days)

I`d like to say I`m surprised but sadly I`m not. The South hasn`t changed much in the last 100 (or more) years. Go to the southeast portion of Missouri and you still get that attitude. Small town = small mind.

"I think it`s much better that children be taught that slavery never even existed. Same with the Holocaust -- let`s just pretend it never happened. If we quit teaching about these things, maybe blacks and Jews will stop whining about them."

While we are at it, lets pretend we never dropped the nuke, 9/11 never happened. Hell lets not even reveal our country`s history considering it is filled with murder and deceit.

Prove me wrong. Oh wait you can`t you`re from the south. Shall I direct you to an Arizona video of racist girls? Also republican county there. Don`t blame me for pointing out facts. Just move Dang007 and you`ll lose the association.

and obviously the best way to teach it is to make it a joke in a math problem right?

That`s right folks.

South = Republican
Republican = racist

Madest = logic fails

Question one: Did the students learn math?

Question two: Did the students learn anything about the social studies topic of slavery?

If the answer to both of those is yes then I do not see the problem.

While the subject matter of the questions is important for our children to learn, it`s not material that should be used for cross-curricular assignments. We need to remember how bad slavery was, and we need to remember why we don`t have it today. But we don`t need to do that with math problems.

Wasn`t slaves and the beating of slaves part of American history? Jesus, ya hear it mentioned every time a black person feels that he or she has been wronged.It`s like a broken record.

I think Neagle hit it square on the head, parents need to be involved and not just trust the school to do all the work.

"The Jews are aliens in Germany--in 1933 there were 66,060,000 inhabitants in the German Reich, of whom 499,682 were Jews. What is the per cent of aliens?" That is a question taken directly out of a Nazi text book during WW2. Granted the questions on this test may have not been written with an agenda or malice this is a prime example parents need to be involved and not blindly trust the education of their children to anyone. @madest extreme left or right propaganda never leed to anything good.

I`m pretty sure there are quite a variety of races that have at one point been enslaved. He thought it instantly must be his race. Oh I mad...

Hypothetical Math problems are NOTHING compared to hypothetical Law problems...

it was obviously an outrageous assignment. But the parents complained through the right channels, and appropriate action has been taken.

How did this make the news?

I grew up in gwinnett county... awesome. I never encountered anything like this when I was in school... Didn`t know that they changed up the classes that much since then...

What`s really hilarious (or disturbing) is that this was a policy created by the feel good liberals of the Great Society era in their activist approach to education. But conservatives will probably get blamed for this. Because, you know, all right-wingers are racist.

They`ve been trying to teach social issues with math problems since the 60s. Coincidentally, that`s right about the time that this country began to suck at math and science. Teach math in math class.

Wonder what would be the reaction if this was an assignment at a German elementary: "Ok so you have a 100 sq. m. barrack with room for appx. 2500 jews and there are a train coming towards your camp - it contains 2500 more jews, 50 kilometers away and moving in 40 km/h. All ovens are running an maximum capacity, 250 cremations pr. hour": a) how many jews do you have when the train arrives b) there are room for 3 jews pr. bed in the barrack you decide to change it to four, will there still be jews waiting in line for available ovens?

How many slaves did you get at auction if by the time you showed up there was only 1 available, who was bid up to $1500.00 but on that day you could only pay $900.00??

(Answer - 3/5 of a man! Woot!)

Susan B. Anthony was fined $100 for voting for President. If she only had $25, how much more does she need to pay the fine?

LOL. That`s historical context right there, they can`t even complain.

pretty sad tbh that only the two guys said anything. it`s not inappropriate to tell kids about slavery and its history, but yea, it needs to be in context.

If Bobby the serial killer kills 30 people and decides to keep his victims toes as a trophy, how many toes does he end up with?

Is that better for you guys?

Really, this isn`t a sort of question you would ask a kid to figure out. Why ask a MATH question about slaves and beatings when you could ask a question about apples and oranges and still get the MATH part through? Whoever wrote this knew what would happen if someone reported on it.

LOL black parents are the ones upset, yet they weren`t the only oppressed race. seriously get over yourself.

first we had separation of church and state, next controversy to come to schools will be separation between state and history.

how bout this, slavery is a part of history and never once does it say anything about africans, mans outrage is based on racial bias and fear, if africans hadnt been enslaved he would have no objection. slaves are NOT inherently black. get over it

The slave problem is inappropriate but it doesn`t bother me as much as the beatings problem does. You don`t know what a kid has gone through even if they`re only in 3rd grade. :/

Do we want kids to not know that this Southern state once owned and beat slaves?

Math teacher; `Fine, I`ll change the questions around, mention slavery. Can I get on with teaching math now?`
