This isn`t really a cyber war. When a cyber war breaks out you can pretty much say goodbye to most of the internet, your banks, the stock market and a lot of industrial systems and even utilities.

"Where the protests against SOPA were working I can now see a reversal on this because of this"

Ya, a small group of hackers making demands will obviously completely negate millions upon millions of people making calls, letters, emails, blackouts, and live protests.

There is no middle ground for media companies, they want it all, and can afford to try for it.

.
I have not, do not, and will not like, respect, or fear Anonymous, because they`re like a flash-bang:

All show, a little annoying, but overall not that dangerous
They can be dangerous sometimes..

and @piperfawn this isn`t a cyber war.....

Another point when it comes down to it will the states want to back down now. They back down now they think next time anonymous wants to do something they`ll do this again. Where they won`t care about piracy they will care when it`s to do with national security gunatanomo or big oil or something. They back down now it creates a bad precedent for them which they can not have.... Where the protests against SOPA were working I can now see a reversal on this because of this

Anyone ever think that the real hackers who go onto 4chan and partake in these attacks are doing it for their own gain and just using the 4chaners to take the fall and provide distraction. Think about the Anonymous attacks which fail and the ones that succeed, or are just script kiddies. Thing I`ve noticed the effective attacks are worth money to the actual hackers

Don`t get me wrong though, it`s not that I don`t appreciate people trying to make a point about why all this poo is stupid.

I just don`t like when people are given more credit than they deserve then brag about it.

"Anonymous" isn`t even a specific group, it`s what every retard that can port forward and set up a botnet calls themselves.

Anyone can let someone else use their internet to DDoS, and with enough retards of course you can temporarily shut down a website.

This is as big of a fail as when they only made Mastercard/Paypal`s front pages lag, but then just putting "www" before the link made them load perfectly.

so pro hacka

anyone that actually thinks that anon uses pre-scripted tools is a fool. anon hacked one of the largest companies in the world, hack the fbi on the same day and managed to take anything and everything they wanted, all the while the security comapany owner said it could not happen. well it did, anon busted through their security easily and took what they wanted WHILE the company was aware of what was happening but could do nothing to stop them.

anon has some major world class talent in it and denial of service is only one of the things they do. anon does what most wish they could, shut down those that try to take away our liberties. some would say it is wrong to do it the way they do but we live in a world and country where the rule of law means nothing to the rich and powerful because they buy and own the law.
Someone is angry...well what`s new?
Angry?

Not quite. I just find it pathetic that so many people support and praise an "organization" (if you can even call it that) that doesn`t actually DO anything except put on a show, and not even a good one to be honest.

Get off your ass and actually do something, don`t just leave it up to someone else, especially when that someone (or group of someones, in this case) is just a bunch of pissed off basement-dwelling losers with a collection of pre-scripted tools that make it so easy a computer illiterate moron could perform a DDoS.

They don`t do "good" work. They just don`t do work at all.

Oh really, Anon?

The sites are back up now.

Anonymous is nothing. They`re a bunch of script kiddes DDoS`ing websites and acting like they`re hot-poo because they can temporarily overload servers that aren`t meant to handle large traffic loads, considering that they AREN`T VISITED THAT OFTEN IN THE FIRST PLACE.

They haven`t done shit. Call me when they PERMANENTLY crash a site, or perhaps alter the entire DoJ`s homepage, and I`ll be impressed.

As-is, they`re probably just a bunch of "haxors" firing off their LOIC`s from behind a proxy or two and laughing maniacally because they think they`re cool.

If anonymous didn`t constantly remind me of a bunch of angry kids furiously seeking any means possibly to lash out in a pathetic attempt to gain a very flawed sense of "justice" I would probably join them. But because they take such drastic and reckless action against anything they disagree with I cannot take them seriously. There are even better and far more effective ways to deal with these problems especially with the abilities they posses. I find it sad they aren`t capable of seeing that.

Anonymous is the only thing in the last 10 years that makes me actually want to learn about computers, so i can hack sh*t.
i am barely computer-literate enough to come to IAB and make stupid comments. the abilities of people to crush an FBI website amazes me. kudos to them.

I was able to visit both the Dept. of Defense and the RIAA`s website. RIAA`s looks a bit screwy though. Anyone know the names of the other music websites? It doesn`t say on the youtube page.

That scene from "Fight Club" instantly popped into my head while watching this. Ya know, the one where they drag the man into the men`s room and Brad Pitt says "The people you are after are the people you depend upon; we cook your meals, we haul your trash, we connect your calls, we drive your ambulances, we guard you while you sleep. Do not drat with us."
