Google has been asked by a US law enforcement agency to remove videos exposing police brutality. Can anyone say Orwell?

Crackr/chance13,

The US and the UK are supposed to be better than Russia and China on that whole freedom/rights thing. If I complain to the county council about the drains I don`t expect to be told that it`s worse in Somalia.

Maybe I was too quick to defend them. But why is it always hate on Fox?
Google
CNN lies
MSNBC lies
Fox News lies

they all lie. They are corporate media juggernauts with political ties. Good thing SOPA was staved off for a while.

How can people hate on Fox News when they don`t watch it? You just see John Stewart and Steven Colbert making fun of it, all your internet peers hate on it. I`m willing to bet most have never even watched it.

I`m not a big major media watcher. Get most of my news from the internet. But what I have seen on fox has been fairly accurate.

"Yeah, right. RT accusing the US of this is just hypocritical."

And yet, you watch Fox "News". Oh, the irony.

Yeah, right. RT accusing the US of this is just hypocritical. RT has suppressed video of the Putin`s crackdown on protesters, there in Russia, at Putin`s request.

They would pray they could stifle online videos of police brutality but it is also our right to be able to film and share our experiences with law enforcement as a means of protection from such abuse. We have the right to expose misconduct.

Here`s an interesting thought. In the US, doesn`t the person who made the video, in most cases, own the copyright? I understand if I`m filming a production of some sort, I might not, but if I`m filming something happening in public, such as a street fight, clearly I own the copyright.

Wouldn`t that mean that the police department that shot the dash cam owns the copyright to that video? If that`s the case, they should be able to get that video taken down without too much trouble.

But, if I take a video of an arrest happening in public, and they ask to take that down, that`s a whole different thing.

Also, I don`t see anything wrong with asking to take it down as a courtesy. "Hey, man, that makes me look bad. Any way you can take it down?" That`s understandable, I think. If Google says "No," and they take it to the next step, that`s a different story, but it never hurts to ask, you know?

"If" the cops asked them to
"It may be" corporate policy
"if the government used payment companis"

If If If

Let`s discuss it when we know something for fact.

Okay, so the US government asks Google to get rid of something and they are EVIL. China tells Google to pull down every mention of religion, alternate governments, and anything that spins the Chinese government in a negative way and Google jumps to get it done...and the governments evil?

Google can do what ever it wants on its site.. The police can ask to get stuff removed just as you and I can. Can they force Google to take stuff off? No.
