sooo...should I point out the contradiction of a pagan atheist? Sigh...this makes me sick. These kids have no idea what they are talking about. I agree, "Religious exposure should be banned until people reach voting age and can make informed decisions for themselves."
If all the religions die out in one generation because of that...no great loss :P

Religions would die out in only 1 generation if that happened xD

OldOllie, Einstein was not Catholic he was a non observant Jew and claimed to not believe in God although he never claimed to be an atheist. These kids are not Catholic, they`re Christian which means they need to give up reality for the fantasy world they live in. You know how that is.

Pantheism indicates that: Everything we don`t know has been reveared as "God". And as we increase our knowledge in the universe, the division between "God" and man decreases.

Panentheism believes that "God" is in everything, and as we explore the universe, and increase our understanding of our universe, so too do we understand "God".

Whether or not this "God" is of divine intellect is unknowable. Pantheists believe there is no divine intellect, but it`s okay to attribute the concept of a divine intellect to what we don`t understand; just as long as our quest for knowledge doesn`t end there.

Panentheists believe there is a divine intellect at work in the universe, and that the universe itself is intelligent beyond our knowledge. It will always remain beyond our knowledge, but through the study of the universe, we can gain a greater understanding of this intelligence.

Make-a de sense?

And yes, Catholic schools tend to out perform other schools because they marry religion and science. I went to Catholic school my whole life, and I can tell you that it`s a whole different ball of wax than other Christian schools.

Firstly, Catholic schools freely teach evolution, and embrace many scientific aspects. The methodology of Catholic schools is to teach the curriculum, but engage the faith, and to bring Catholic teachings into every aspect.

But...that doesn`t mean that students aren`t encouraged to question and learn more about the world around them just because, "Goddidit". The methodology is to teach "how" God did it, more or less...again, a panentheistic approach to religious views.

Pantheism and panentheism are the way to go, and offer the least resistance in exploring the universe. Both allow for a mystical belief in something greater, but also allow for exploration of the unknown.
Einstein and Newton were both devout believers.
Really? Einstein had declared himself agnostic, but he was more of a pantheist. He believed that there was a higher order, but that order could be solved by science.

"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it." - Albert Einstein

So, to Einstein, "God" was science unrevealed.

And, as for Newton...well, he was a typical 17th century man. He studied the bible a lot, as most people of the time did, but he did so to help him understand the world of science better...again, strong pantheistic beliefs, leaning more toward the panentheism aspect.
Come on America, you`re smarter than this. Part of the reason you`re declining in science is exactly this kind of bullcum which you`re teaching your kids.
I`d like to see your evidence of this -- especially since Catholic school students consistently outperform their public school counterparts. Einstein and Newton were both devout believers. I think they were both pretty good at science. BTW, I`m an atheist myself. I just don`t feel I have to be smug and arrogant about it like you and many others like you. And while I`m a firm believer in evolution, I really couldn`t care less what anyone else thinks about it.

Come on America, you`re smarter than this. Part of the reason you`re declining in science is exactly this kind of bullcum which you`re teaching your kids.

Believe whatever you want, we atheists take no offence to that. Believe in God, fairies, the sasquatch, whatever you like. Heck, try to convert people to your belief in whatever, it might work on some people, there`s still no harm in that.

But to teach kids that there`s no such thing as the inherently observable reality of evolution (that living things can change their form over generations, which is all evolution is when boiled down), is disgusting.

While you`re at it, teach children that the internet is run by pixies. After all, we have a much greater scientific understanding of evolutionary processes than we do of the quantum mechanics of how electrons move across your computer`s circuitboard.

I wouldn`t worry too much about the "pagan atheist" thing, or even the "I`m gonna set set set them free, make them Christian just like me" sentiment. That`s what religions do, and it doesn`t affect most of us.

No, what I find vastly more abhorrent is "You don`t need evolution, it`s just not the solution". Well, you say that kid, until new antibiotics to save your life from a particularly virulent infection by constantly evolving and resistant bacteria.

Well done parents/carers/pastors, whomever. You just brainwashed these children and denied them any chance of being any kind of professional scientist in their future, should that have been the path they chose.

Even more terrifying (and yes, I mean that word, over-the-top as it seems), is that the Conservative front-runners in America and heirs apparent to the throne, Romney and Perry, would both advocate teaching ID in schools alongside evolution.

Or perhaps it`s just Poe`s corollary. That`s the fun part!

She must mean pagan/atheist, or we would refer to muslim christians.

The church shouldn`t be allowed to prey on vulnerable young kids. Religious exposure should be banned until people reach voting age and can make informed decisions for themselves.

If your going to make an argument, whether it be in song form or not. As already stated in this forum, you cannot be Atheist and Pagan. That is just dumb to say.

For those who seem to be confused on what Pagan means, it really any indigenous religion that is not one of the Judaism, Christianity, or Islam.

This includes Greek and Roman Mythos, Norse Mythos, Egyption Mythos, Hinduism, and many more [Mostly multi-theist religions].

Atheists aren`t Pagans. Paganism is a religion, isn`t it? Don`t they have many gods. Atheists don`t even have one. An this atheist doesn`t have to go anywhere once a week to "learn how to be nice." I think I`m a pretty nice guy as I am.

I`m glad that you find some happiness in your faith. I find happiness in my lack of faith. I don`t try to convince you you`re wrong, please don`t try to convince me I`m wrong.
