Ah, the government`s responsibility is dictating the morality of the people so the laws follow suit. If only the government had dictated morality before the great porn influx of the 60`s, everything would be better. What a putz.

Ron Paul is looney tunes. He`s on the record for...

    No social security
    no medicaid
    No public education
    no minimum wage
    anti union

But he is pro pot so at least you can get stoned while your sick, homeless and hungry.

And yet, given the other options of Obama or the other republican candidates...this idiot is the one I`m most likely to vote for....

    Pick your poison.

@Gerry1of1, yeah, like every election, you have to pick the lesser of two evils, not your ideal. During the last election, Obama was the lesser of two evils. If RP wins the primary, he will probably be the lesser of two evils.

Gerry1of1: Lucky your old and gay, because it is the young and parental who will suffer most if those goals past.

I have to go weeks barley eating sometimes just so I can afford rent, because who I work for found tricks so they can legally give us minimum wage pay. I would still be at home at 23 if they could pay me less then they already do! Those tricks are going to be gone at the end of January and for the first time since I moved out two years ago I will be able to afford a car and buy non-essential stuff for my own enjoyment.

I never vote for the "lesser of two evils"
I vote FOR what I believe in, not against what I don`t.
And if Ron Paul wins the nomination the choice will be:
    liberty or non-liberty

    And Gerry,
Social Security spends more than it takes in. He has talked about making a plan (or has made one) allowing young people to opt out (since we wont be getting anything anyway)

He`s against the Dept. of Education, not public schools. he believes the states should take care of it on their own, like they did before 1979.

Unions aren`t what they used to be.

maybe we can finally realize the difference between the poor and the "deserving poor"

What are we going to do with these people who opt out of Social Security when their 401K and whatever plan they moved to has been drained because of health bills not covered by insurance? If we do away with Social Security we also need to go to a One Payer health care system to at least give people a chance at a retirement.

QualityJay - The people receiving SSI paid into it. Blame congress for spending it. They bailed out car companies and bannks...why not actually pay what the told people they would pay for 50 years.

Ron Paul has stated children do not have a right to public education. If it`s not a right then it`s for those who can afford it. As he`s also is in favor of repealing child labor laws and minimum wage you can see where it`s going.

And yet he`s still not the worst candidate.

"As he`s also is in favor of repealing child labor laws and minimum wage you can see where it`s going."

I`m in favor of a lower minimum wage for kids under 18. It would encourage more companies to hire them which in turn would build a stronger work ethic in our youth. With the higher minimum wage companies are going with more reliable adults instead of the teens that used to hold the positions.

Exactly. People just don`t understand that minimum wage laws are nothing more than laws that make it illegal for certain people to work. The laws discriminate against the poor, underprivileged, inexperienced, and undereducated, and accomplish nothing more than keep these people in a vicious cycle of underemployment and poverty.

The U.S. is a hugely political country. I wish that Canada had the same level of political engagement.

I disagree with Ron Paul about abortion, but that`s mitigated by the fact that he wants to take authoritarian power away from the government.

I like ron paul on many issues from military overspending, to the failed drug policy. But I couldn`t support the outright elimination of FDA, which serves an important role in preventing dangerous drugs (anyone hear of thalidomide) from being sold in the US.
The government does play some important roles and shouldn`t be completely disassembled. It is important not to forget why these programs were created in the first place. The FDA was originally created due to poor product control that was rampant among food producers making people sick or even causing death.
Also the EPA plays a very vital role, let`s not forget Warren county nuclear waste site, something that the EPA now has authority to prevent.
Complete libertarianism is good in theory, but there are problems if you allow the free market to decide anything. Corporations don`t care about anything but profit, and without some regulations would not act in the best interest of society.

Aside from Paul`s economic kookery, he has also signed certain personhood pledges which hold that an egg is exactly the same as a fully developed human being, & therefore any hormonal birth control would be considered murder under his worldview. Really he isn`t any different at all from Ol` Frothy in this respect, just let that sink in for a while...

So if you`d like your birth control outlawed and women allowed into the HOV zone when pregnant, vote Paul I suppose.

    @grindin
He wants to demolish the FDA as they are as corrupt and full of lobbyists as the us gov`t is. For every poison they have stopped, they let food companies put others in every single thing we eat. Aspartame is a horrific toxin that the FDA has allowed food companies to put in most of the common foods we eat every day. All artificial sweeteners are dangerous and potentially deadly.

To add insult to injury, they block viable, safe, natural alternatives at the behest of the sugar and artificial sweeteners industries, such as Stevia, which has been in use for centuries. Only recently have they let it back in the country.

And that`s just the tip of the iceberg of it`s heinous crimes.

I`m really disappointed in CNN lately. They were the last cable news source that actually followed the standards of journalism. Lately they have been using sensationalism more and more. I don`t think they will ever stoop to the level of Fox News or MSNBC. That would be a pretty big fall but their credibility is slipping.

Also, it`s not that he`s against oversight regarding food, drugs, health, the environment ect. He`s just against Federal oversight. Just as with nearly everything else, he feels these regulations should be a state matter.
Also, while he is generally against abortion, he is not against birth control, and even supports emergency contraception(morning after pill). He also supports abortion if the pregnancy endangers the mothers life.
The distinction here, is that he himself will not outlaw or make into federal law any of these things, but rather will leave it up to states to decide on these matters.
A state may decide to provide free birth control to all, and that would be fine by him, even though he personally is against it.

Santorum is an ahole and a moron at that. RON PAUL people, the only candidate that offers real change and can take us back to what made us great.

people, watch these debates and see how the media networks try to pass by Ron P. every time.

they gop does not want Ron Paul as the cannidate because they know they cannot control him and he will tear down their cash cows and give power back to the people.

if he does not get the nomination we need to urge him strongly to run third party then we need to back him at every turn and get him elected.

everyone says a third party cannot win the WH...everyone said a black person couldn`t either.

ron paul will not make birth control illegal...only a moron would think that.

no cannidate would because they know it is illegal and violates freedom of expression, speech and privacy.

also, none of them want to commit political suicide.

RP has made it clear that these issues are up to the individual not the gov.

But I, and others like me, paid into SSI for 30 years and they said everything we paid would be paid back... now they just want to cancel it and leave us homeless? F-NO!

I`m in favor of cancelling all foreign aid and paing for SSI that way. Let China help out other countries. They have all the jobs now.
