The way she is holding it makes me think she HAS seen one before. She`s being so careful to only hold it around the edges and she`s also skilled at taking it out of the cover.

@skine
i`m not suprised they haven`t disappeared at all.
i still use them for mixing and prefer them over CDs.
many other people do the same.

I really miss the old record album covers. I used to love going into the record stores and looking at the old Iron Maiden covers. "Killers" used to freak me out.

Things always remind me of watching a Michael Jackson Bio on tv back in the 90s with my little sis.
Thriller clip comes on.
Me: this was made back when Michael Jackson was black.
Sis: Michael Jackson was black?!?!

I lol`d so hard that day.

The concept of a vinyl record is really quite simple. It`s just a big CD that`s played with a physical needle instead of a laser beam. :-P

Give her an arithmetic problem without a calculator, a spelling test without a spellchecker or show her a map of the world and no doubt she won`t have a clue about any of it.

"HOLY drat THAT WAS SCRIPTED"

She`s not very good with delivering her lines.

My 13 year old son had a similar reaction.

Now give her a 8track, cassette tape or a vhs and see what she thinks...

Definitely scripted, therefore not entertaining.

My ex gave his 14 year old nephew a hoodie for his birthday with images of cassette tapes screenprinted all over it. He told the kid he`d give him ten bucks if he could tell him what those things were called. He couldn`t.

"And vinyl hasn`t made a comeback"

Exactly.

It hasn`t ever gone away.

Rather, people have become increasingly surprised that it hasn`t gone away.

And with the whole DJ scene thingy, kids are still aware what a vinyl is. Now show them an 8 track with a player and then I`ll be impressed.

Yes, scripted.

And vinyl hasn`t made a comeback, but it`s doing better now than it was in the 90`s/2000`s.

I see many bands releasing albums on vinyl, and I see these CD/Tape deck/record player/radio/iPod things everywhere.

Vinyl sounds so much better... I like that all the sounds are compressed into a singular sound wave as opposed to digital mediums, where everything is separate.

*at least, for music.

Videos may be a different matter.

It seemed a little scripted, but it`s probably not too far from the truth.

"Vinyl`s essentially dead, but it`s not been forgotten that much."

Actually, it`s still alive and well. In fact, I`d be willing to bet that vinyl will outlive any other physical media.

Scripted. Vinyl`s essentially dead, but it`s not been forgotten that much. Also, she`s either mentally ill or a terrible actor.

According to how she`s handling it, she knows exactly what it is. I gave my kids a record once and they grabbed it fully on the surface.

It hurts me when people talk about vinyl in past tense. I`m 23, and I have a milk crate full of old records that I listen to regularly. And I am not a hipster.

Ugh.
I`m still pissed my parents got rid of most of their albums, if not all. I would have snatched those up in a heartbeat.

My boyfriend has a really nice record player, and a HUGE collection of records. Sometimes we just sit in his room and listen to them for hours. Music just sounds so amazing on vinyl. There is something about it that just makes it sound better then listening to it any other way...

Don`t tell anybody, but i had a recordplayer at home (well my parents had, until i disassembled it- i`m a mechanical engineer now), without electricity, with a spring you had to wind up, with a big horn on it (like the one with the dog "his master`s voice") and records turning 78 rpm... 1970 *sigh*

What`s sad is the fact that most people don`t know you can still purchase pretty much everything worthwhile on vinyl... quite a few companies still make great turntables. I still buy and play LP`s regularly at home... on a system that uses a tube amp. the sound is richer and warmer, there`s just no way around it.

They`re easily converted to mp3, so of course I have several gigs of music stored on my phone that I use in the car.

Vinyl STILL rules as a music playback format.

My kids wont grow up like this; I`ll have them re-capping valve amps by the time they`re 6 years old.
