"The wise old silver-back letting the little ones observe against her better judgement it seemed. Amazing stuff"

I get what you`re saying (kinda) but "against her better judgement" I`d say that the silver back was fully aware that he had nothing to fear in that situation and thus was making an understandable decision to nurture the infants curiosity by taking station close to the `camera man`. Also silver back`s are the alpha males of gorilla familys.

On a personal note, few things amaze me more than the vast differences between humans and other apes in terms of cognitive and vocal ability despite the knowledge that our genetics dictate that we are almost exactly identical. However in spite of saying that the behaviours exhibited in this video were remarkably similar in terms of being civil/gentle.

tl;dr gorillas are cool

Amazing. I can`t even imagine how great of a personal memory that must be for him.

Why would he need a change of clothes? I was expecting some poo tossing or bodily fluids, what a disappointment,

Dolphins, like any wild animal, can attack but they ram. Knocking people off watercraft and dragging them under? Someone has been watching way too many cheap water horror films. Some show I saw on the educational channel said there was only one confirmed death by dolphin and the guy had abused the otherwise friendly dolphin.

@I-s-bored: Don`t underestimate dolphins. They all seem so funny and humorous, but don`t forget they are top predators too. It would be easy for dolphins to nudge a jetski, throwing him off, and pulling him under water by an arm or leg and drown him. I think that is not much harder to do for a dolphin than a silverback charging in and breaking necks. (well, maybe a little harder, but dolphins still can be very dangerous animals)

@IAFYM
They did say that this kind of encounter when the gorillas come into camp only happens 1-2 times a year, otherwise there`s a strict no contact policy at Bwindi so that you never get closer than 10 metres or so.
The Rwanda gorilla trips on the other hand, where you actually go into the family groups is another matter:(

@den3jlb
except those dolphins would have a harder time killing you if they felt like it

Breathtaking. Nothing better than encounters with wild animals. Having wild dolphins frolicking round my jetski comes close to this.

Well, I`m sure the experience was exhilarating and exciting. However I`m left feeling that such an experience should never be had. It`s a shame what we`ve done to our natural resources.

The encroachment of humans has had a negative affect on gorillas.

2:49, the Silverback looks at the man? I felt real fear there! Holy poo, that`s a BIG monkey!
The guy is so [email protected]! I`d be shatting myself! (although that might make them mad, bad idea eh?)

Ever cool!

700 wild Gorillas left on earth as far as we know and many people would give their right nut to interact with them like that. Me included!

I was watching An Idiot Abroad 2 earlyer... wonder if it`s the same family?
