I get it--lots of people in other countries hate America, but this is a bit below the belt.

I bet if an american wore a shirt of a jet bombing a building in iraq it would get world wide news. Then there would be riots in the middle east. thousands would die. we would hear condemnation from the world. WW3 would start. nuclear winter. everyone dies.

Is it just me, or does that kinda look like the skyline from Punch Out when you`re jogging and the trainer is riding the bike? With the twin towers shopped in of course, but yeah.

I don`t get it.

If it was a shirt of NYC before 11/09/2001 then it`s ok. If it`s an NYC skyline without the towers it`s ok...

But because it`s from during the attack it`s disgusting?

Don`t be a hypocrite.

no V neck though

Okay, RuralNinja, I will admit that I see your point regarding the examples you`ve given (burning cross, Klan, etc.), and I do see how those are more offensive than the examples I listed. At the same time, I still do think that there`s more than one way way to look at things. Can I give you a 75% win in the discussion and let me hang on to 25%? ;-)

@pompousass7 - Worry about our own economy? WOW, we`ll have to remember that since your country`s economy is dependent on trade with the US. But hey, since you guys have everything under control I guess you could do without 70% of all your country`s exports and 60% of all imports. GL with all your future endeavors.

Signed - Your great depression.

peace on earth is a pipe dream as long as the u.s. keeps thinking it can control the world. they should try worrying about their own economy and people first before worrying about other country`s oil..i mean people

I`m fairly certain he`s Pakistani. And if that`s the case, the chances that he`s wearing this shirt as a memorial or tribute are slim-to-none.

@Smag I`ll be a veteran in 4 more years, right now I`m still active. I wasn`t saying you were an idiot, just that I saw a very distinct difference between what you said and that shirt. I can understand shirts based on wars. They`re a constant of humanity. However, a shirt that results based on pure hatred of another group I can`t stand. It wasn`t war depicted on that shirt, it was just hatred and intolerance.

I would say it is closer to wearing a shirt with a burning cross and the Klan logo, or of Jewish people in a WWII concentration camp. I don`t see two sides to it.

Okay, RuralNinja, all of my examples were poor. You`re right, we never make any stupid shirts or say or do stupid things that any other country or culture might rightfully find offensive. We`re the greatest country in the history of the world.

Look, I`m a veteran, a proud American, and a happy guy, but I`m not such an idiot as to not realize that there are (at least) two sides to every story, and just as many perspectives on events. I`m not saying that you`re an idiot, either, I`m just saying that it`s silly to get all butt hurt over this guy`s shirt. You know the drill, those in glass houses shouldn`t throw stones...

@Smagboy All of those are poor examples. Mushroom clouds can occur from natural events, such as a volcano erupting. Plus, scores more bombs were used in tests than in war. Mushroom clouds themselves do not refer to any one specific event.

America was on the receiving end of the Alamo. That would be like someone wearing the 9/11 shirt in New York. Its for remembering fallen comrades, not a gloat of victory.

I don`t see how this is any different than all the merchandise America made for 9/11. These things include, but are not limited to - bumper stickers, coffee mugs, t-shirts, wristbands, hats, a movie starring Nick Cage, key chains, commemorative coins... etc.

Not sure that I agree that the shirt`s below the belt (well, any more so than any that plenty of Americans wear). I mean, just because we`re Americans, we might feel that this shirt is in poor taste and offensive, but, we wear mushroom cloud t-shirts, kamikaze tees, `Remember the Alamo` tees, etc. We`re removed from those events by culture and time, so we feel like it`s okay and don`t worry about other cultures being offended. Well, people who don`t live here sometimes feel the same. Plus, we lost a bit over 2,000 lives on 9/11. Some countries have lost, literally, hundreds of thousands or more. So, you can imagine why they might not feel quite the same way.

I`m not sticking up for the shirt, or the guy, just pointing out that his is no more stupid than many shirts out there. And plenty of them worn by Americans. Do our tees mean we hate other countries?
