@Cajun, sorry, you need to brush up on your Feminism 101: NOW style! THEY have been pushing for exactly what I describe for decades now, and in most places THAT is what the law is.

Sometimes I think they`re crazy, but mostly is makes it easier to convict accused rapists.

You seem to be most upset about "lawyer language" to me, just my observation. It isn`t called `rape` anymore, it`s called `sexual assault` & that sort of thing.

Over & out!

5Cats what you just wrote is absolute utter FAIL! Not only have you taken what I said out of context, you have also fundamentally skewed the concept of violence to such ridiculous levels I am not sure what you would not call violent. Just because someone lets another into their house does NOT mean that they consented to let the guest show them their genitals. That, however, does NOT mean that when the guest does so they have commited an act of violence against resident. Even if the guest TELLS the resident to perform fellatio that still does not mean the guest has commited a violent act against the resident because the guest has NOT done anything to or even attempted to threaten the resident. You are also suggesting that a woman who flashes her chest at someone else or a man who walks down the street buck naked is commiting a violent crime when that is SIMPLY not true because they do NOT or even attempt to threaten the well being of those around them.

Backwards again @cajun! Under the `old rules` a rape victem had to PROVE penetration for charges to stick. Hundreds of rapists who could afford good lawyers got off free! (eh, the puns!)

So it was an IMPROVEMENT to say that ANY unwante sexual attack COULD BE called assault.
IMPLIED Coercion: it`s the backbone of many assault cases, eh?

WITH? You`re joking right, because she was there in the room that was implied concent to see "little willy"? Really? She willingly engaged in deviant sexual behaviour with him? Really? "With" in this case means that another person(s) was affected by the deviant behaviour, NOT that she wanted it. If he pulled it out all alone? No assault.
Next you`re going to debate the meaning of the word "is"...

Indecent exposure is a FORM of sexual assault, m-kay? Like screaming dirty words at 3 year olds is.

Oh wait Willy told her to do so.

I`m sorry telling someone IPSO FACTO doe NOT mean that there was any desire for them to do said action against their will. Coercion or compulsion does explicitly deny the option to refuse, but according to the official record Clinton told her but did not compel or coerce her.

Lastly Paula Jones filed a sexual HARASSSMENT case against Willy. Why the serious downgrade hmmm?

Uh... You might want to work on your reading comprehension there. The site I linked to doesn`t actually say that.

What is says is:
A) In the first year of Obama`s presidency he spent all or part of 27 days at Camp David.
B) By comparison, in the first year of George W. Bush`s presidency he spent all or part of 78 days at Camp David (nearly three times more).
C) One person is quoted as basically saying that *all* US presidents are never really totally on vacation.

Note that item C does NOT actually claim the hypocritical difference you somehow read into it.

I though I`d mention this since you`ve erroneously made that argument

I`ll even refer you to the federal statutes of the United States. I also just read Canada`s statute on the matter, IT doesn`t even fit.
So ultimately your rebutal is:
By Common Sense: Bull5h17
By Arkansas Standards: Bull5h17
By Federal Standards: Bull5h17
By Canadian Standards: Connerie
For all American cases I just listed they all require penetration which didn`t happen. Try attempt? Difficult to prove mens rea there.

That doesn`t even come close to the definition in Texas:
Penal Code, Sec. 22.011.(a) creates the offence of sexual assault. It reads:
(a) A person commits an offense if the person: (1) intentionally or knowingly: (A) causes the penetration of the anus or sexual organ of another person by any means, without that person`s consent; (B) causes the penetration of the mouth of another person by the sexual organ of the actor, without that person`s consent; or (C) causes the sexual organ of another person, without that person`s consent, to contact or penetrate the mouth, anus, or sexual organ of another person, including the actor; or

BUT since this occured in Arkansas I`ll refer you to THEIR STATUTE.

Yes WhiteWater was very serious, it is too bad it got side tracked.

@patchgrabber: I didn`t say he was worse, I suggested this for two reasons:
1) The Obamas stay in high priced digs on their vacation! It costs a poo-load of money to ship all those secret people and support staff to Hawaii (although they`re probably happy to go! I know I`d be!)
Bush `vacationed` at his ranch.

#2) Bush was regularly roasted by the MSM for his vacations.
Obama is treated like a King by the MSM (hense my tag-line, eh?)

Obama has every right to vacation, esp with his family. But the MSM should apply ONE measure for the PotUS, not a double standard.

All the while spearheading the Republican campaign to have Clinton impeached for getting a blowjob while he was dicking his secretary? Preaching family values while being married 3 times etc etc?

Sorry, I lose track after a while. Following American Conservative Republican politics is like a bad soap opera: if you miss a couple of episodes, it`s hard to catch back up. So much inane drama has gone on in the meantime.

I doubt very much that is going to happen with the motley crew of knuckle-draggers the conservatives have dragged up this time.

Mitt Romney: A magic-underpant wearing mormon (spellcheck assured me there was supposed to be two "m`s" in there)

Rick Perry: Can`t remember which government institutions he`s going to do away with.

Herman Cain: Well, he`s already dropped out due to embarrassment of having an extra-marital affair. Sure, it was probably all gold-diggers. Except that he admitted helping her with her monthly bills and expenditures, and that his wife was not aware of that. Because that`s what you do when you`re NOT having an affair.

Michelle Bachmann: The less said about her, the better. I think "moonbat" would be an appropriate term.

@5Cats: I completely agree that (most of) the MSM is biased against conservative politicians. I consider myself independent with leftward leanings, but I think this bias is uncalled for. In theory, the media is supposed to be an unbiased conduit of information from various facets of our society to the public as a whole, but news has become both a tool for abuses of power and a salable commodity.

A flip side to this is that much of the religious leadership in this country is right-leaning. That`s not a counter-balance - they`re utterly different in their influence - but I think it just goes to show that there are powerful special interest groups that are in both camps.

Exactly my point, 5Cats. $250B. Not three times increase in the deficit! At all. And you`re right about him continuing the tax cuts (well, Congress did it, but he did sign it, agreed). Notice that I said in my post that I recognize he`s not perfect. And I also recognize that he`s got a lot of faults. Seems to me that you think that just by breathing he`s wrong, though. The guy hasn`t even been in office three full years and you act like he`s the worst president ever. Not even once acknowledging the unbelievable mess he inherited. Think about what I just said--he hasn`t even been in office three years--and look at what good he *has* done, considering what he started with. I know you probably can`t, but, maybe, if you force yourself to try, you`ll realize that he might have started with a slight handicap and hasn`t been in office for even three years. Again, I`m not saying he`s perfect, far from it. I`m just trying to give him a fair shake for at least one term.

5Cats, I try not to take you too seriously as you are leaning so far to the right that I`m surprised you`re still standing, but that deficit chart you posted is pure fiction. First of all, you do understand that federal budgets are singed a year out, right? So that the deficit tripling you cite has as much or more to do with Bush (cut taxes, increase spending) than with Obama. Why don`t you find a chart that shows how many NEW obligations President Obama has signed off on versus ones Bush had already signed off on. I`m not giving Obama a free pass. Not by a long shot, but, accuracy is important and the kind of chart you put up is pure folly.

However, I really don`t see what the issue with this is. Presidents of the US basically don`t get true vacations. Sure, to the lens of the camera, they may be on the beach or the golf course, but the weight of the world is on their shoulders 24/7/365.

I do not want the country being run by someone who is not rested and at least somewhat distracted from these problems. People - even Presidents - are not machines. And, I also don`t want the President to be "slumming it" while on vacation. And, yes, that goes for every president or high official, regardless of political interest or affiliation.

There can be excesses, but this doesn`t seem to me to be one.

@simbha I think the point @crakr (and me, on various topics) is making is that certain groups: Code Pink, PETA, the MSM, Amnesty International & etc willing jump ALL OVER one political party in the USA, but bend over backwards making EXCUSES for the other.

You`re aware that "rendition" continues under Obama, right? They just keep the victems in a boat now, insted of sending them to forign nations. Where`s the outcry? The protests? The calls for the arrest of the current president?

Thus PETA may be correct: it is MORE humane than shipping them out of the country, but it`s hard to imagine them being so... nice! to Bush.

If you (not just you, Crakr) are against the slaughter of any animal, that`s fine; but, to be against the slaughter of horses but be alright with the slaughter of, say, cows and pigs, seems a bit odd.

However the 2006 elections set the stage for the first bailout (which Bush signed) and Clinton`s policies caused the housing bubble (which MacCain tried to reform, but was called a racist by the Dems for his efforts).
Obama, during his campaign, promised to not sign any bill with "earmarks" (pork-barrel spending) yet the first bill he signed had the highest in history!

Also, do you really think that one man is capable of causing that type of federal deficit? What underlying factors contributed to it. A debt and deficit of that magnitude don`t come about in 1 year, much less in 5 years by themself, much less by one man. What else could have contributed to that deficit?

Odd: he says the ending of tax cuts will be a "tax increase". Yet he spent a whole year saying the exact opposite! Oh the hypocricy!

nice to know that while 90,000 families per month are being evicted from their homes, the economy is in shambles, and people are committing suicide left and right, he feels the need to pack it up and go on vacation in hawaii, at our expense.

hope you like hawaii, barry, but hell`s gonna be hotter.

As has been established, Bus spent many of his "vacation days" meeting in secret with international leaders.
Add the vacations and golding days together and Obama`s missed a lot of work, eh?

Chart Fu:

Sorry, but Mr Obama is indeed a SCOAMF. And the MSM has given him a free ride thus far.

Give him a break; the economy`s booming, the house is supportive, America is not at war and the election`s in the bag. It`s not like he`s bunking off in a crisis.

Uhhh, he deserves it. Bush deserved the time he took too.
Freakin` aye, that has to be the most stressful job on the planet. Most of the planet instantly recognizes your face and a lot of them would kill you if they had the chance. Let him have some vacation. poo.

And how many days do you think every other politician takes? Or every CEO of a company takes? 17 days actually isn`t that long.

I`m a working peon of a transcriptionist and I get 20 days off a year, and I`m on the bottom of the seniority totem pole. Girl that`s been here the longest gets like around 45 days off a year.

Yepper, Cajun, Obama`s clearly not done anything right and has had terrible results. Especially considering how wonderful things were when he took office. Whatever.

Of course we could compare the time off that Obama`s taken versus the previous several presidents and realize how much less he`s taken, but, that would be silly. And greatly undermine the potential snark. We could also compare those 17 days to the average American worker with a full time job with benefits and see that 17 days at Christmas isn`t all *that* outrageous. But, since fancy has requested we try not be jerks, I`m just going to leave it at that and not really get worked up. For now. ;-)

I agree with the others. A President`s vacation is not like a normal vacation. He still has to work every day, he just get`s to do it on a beach instead of an office.

And even if that weren`t the case, the guy is the President, and that`s gotta be hugely stressful job. He probably deserves a vacation.

and now the european troll is saying that it is pretty normal to have at least 5 weeks off every year

Let`s just all admit that the President never really gets a "vacation," like normal American`s do. When I`m on vacation, I`m not checking email, I`m not answering my cell for work--I`m not working. The President is working, every day, all day.

The cost of the trip is ridiculous, but it`s not really a vacation at all for him.

A President on holiday is not the same as for other people.
He still works, still in communication with the government, still has nuclear launch codes.

He`s jut not in the oval office 16 hours.

On a more serious note, As soon as I saw this link as the new post, I groaned and knew there was going to be some kind of flame war or great argument, but everybody needs a break..as long as it doesn`t turn into what Bush did...Not to start an argument, but its a fact...
