This is almost as good when someone on here argued with me that "Terroristic Threats" were the equivalent of INTERNATIONAL TERRORISM.

Bullpoo on all accounts!!!

Most Police departments use a risk assessment form for serving warrants and all those that do have a certain "Level of Threat" protocol that is to be followed.

Some threats are served by a single officer, some are served by multiple officers and some are served by a CERT/ SWAT TEAM depending on the circumstances.

It`s for the protection of the officers and the communities.

@jamie76 you are totally drating right, but unfortunately noone is proactive enough to do anything about it, which would also just be repeating history..

junkaroo: Surveillance drones don`t bother me, the police have been using helicopters and planes to fill that role since I was a child.

welcome to the police state of america. what, you didn`t think this is where things were going?

homeland security
patriot act
Defense Authorization Act
700 billion a year military budget (which is far beyond any other countries military budget).

people, it is time to leave your political parties behind, all of them. dem, repub, whatever, they are all bought and owned and DO NOT represent the people at all.

the other thing you all need to look at is the fact that the gov/media have pushed so hard to polarize the people, red state, blue state, lib, con, etc.

wake the hell up people. you think history does not repeat itself but it does and will continue to do so and this will not be the first time that a countries gov turned away from its founding principles and took away the people`s power. it has happened many times through history, in fact it has happened more often than not.

if power corrupts and the US gov has most o

" At least they can`t pepperspray you from inside a tank :p"

LoL, they have tanks retro fitted to spray tear gas. The tanks barrel is used to open a hole in a building so they can gas the whole place. They did it during the Waco TX slaughter. So I am pretty sure they could fill it up will pepper spray.

What is your problem? Doesn`t any one WANT security from the towelheads anymore? Listen: if you want real security, then you are going to need cops in body armour and tanks in your town.....right? Who, here, wants to live without the MILITARY BREATHING DOWN YOUR NECK 24/7? IT`S FOR YOUR OWN SECURITY, FOLKS! The NWO is the ultimate rooster in the mouth....ignorance simply helps it go down. Let`s get ignorant! Let`s SUPPORT OUR GOVERNMENTS! That rooster feels better even as I type this!

"I`ve yet to see local police get attack choppers, paratroopers, jet fighters, or artillery pieces. "

Yeah except the part where they have already started using surveillance drones to monitor people. Oopsies guess they skipped a level.

"Now that posse comitatus has been doneaway with there`s nothing limiting the government."

So your concept is that a piece of paper protects rights more than people deciding to defend them? There`s a very big thing still standing in the way, and it`s called `the people`. The gov have to proceed slowly as to not wake them up while fingering the peoples` butt hole.

The right to bear arms means the right to defend against an attack from any military. Not .22 squirrel rifles. If the government has a tank, we should have anti-tank weapons etc.

I wonder who benefits from this?

Is more a powerful government really the best answer?

Gerry: It`s been more than one shoot out or act of terrorism since then, The criminals are better armed then ever. No thanks to Eric Holder and his band of idiots letting guns `walk` across the border into the hands of the drug cartels.

What they fail to mention most of this equipment is not new it is surplus and any U.S. government agency, State or even township are encouraged to apply for it. Most of the time all the requester has to pay for is shipping. $34 billion is a total irrational number based on the overall program. They were also quick to knock Fargo, ND for having a APC but, what they fail to mention is that it is part of Red River Valley SWAT/TEMS Team so it serves a far greater purpose that one municipality and more importantly in a tactical situation having the appropriate equipment available means time saved which equals lives saved. In the US a high percentage, a bit over 1/3, of reservists are in the fire, police and E.M.T.`s. We have all observed an increase of police impropriety in the last couple of years. These are not reservists getting caught doing this kind of crap because in general reservists have a great deal of respect for the Constitution.

@ CrakrJak - are you saying the militarization of the police and a billion dollars is justified becuse of one shoot out?

Seem a bit of an over-reaction to me.

Ok I agree on the armored vehicles, but saying we are "Militarizing Our Local Police Departments" is idiotic. They are upgrading their guns to what SWAT teams use and giving them body armor. How is that "militarizing" them more then they already are?

Stop the failed war on drugs, legalize it, and large chunk of violent crimes in this country will dwindle. I`m not a pot-head (used to be ;) Look at the firepower the gangs have in our larger cities. The police have to keep up or risk being outgunned. They are already outmanned.

After the North Hollywood bank shoot-out in 1997, which lasted more than an hour, the cops were out gunned and out armored, 15 people were injured, including 10 policemen, and more than 200 police were called to handle the siege. Local police have been updating all their armaments, training, vehicles, and tactics.

All this updating started before 9/11/01, it`s nothing new and calling it "Militarizing" is quite apocryphal.

I`ve yet to see local police get attack choppers, paratroopers, jet fighters, or artillery pieces.

Canada should start building their fence now. To keep all those pesky illegal US citizens out of their country.

Matbe they should have used that money to put up a forensics lab in armpit North Dakota to solve those 2 homicides , instead of training redneck farmers how to drive a tank or armoured vehicle. At least now Fargo can hold an annual hillbilly war game. Yehaa !!!

I wonder when will the U.S citizens wake up and realise theirs is not the land of the free at all, and take action to become a free country once again.

The government is preparing for what they know has to come.
How long do you think this negative economy can continue before it collapses? Incomes have decreased for the average person while costs increase. This is only getting worse. People can`t afford things which will cause more business to fold causing more poverty. How long before people stand up? We`re seeing the early signs and the government knows they can`t prevent the collapse.

Now that posse comitatus has been doneaway with there`s nothing limiting the government. But I`m just a doom-n-gloom nut so don`t listen to me...until I say "I told you so".
