Volunteering at a soup kitchen won`t save the world either.

This is another reason why I love architecture. I fall into a zone of both practical and artistic and stand in the middle of the debate. Sure an engineer could design a building, but will it look good?

@Simbha I believe it was meant to be spelled that way. Contempt usually means you dislike something, so it is parodying the Dublin Contemporary.

Art is overpriced anyway

Yes, it was meant to be ironic - because the Dublin Contemporary is a large-scale visual arts festival.

And, yes, they misspelled Contemporary on the sign.

/sigh

"Hitler was an Artist... course they decided he wasn`t good enough to be one... "

It wasn`t that, it was the fact he couldn`t get his ass into art school. If he went to art school, history would be so different.

"Well... Hitler was an Artist... course they decided he wasn`t good enough to be one... so he became a global domination freak... so if he`d been an artist instead... wouldn`t that have saved the world?"

Maybe if he volunteered at a soup kitchen.

"so if he`d been an artist instead... wouldn`t that have saved the world?"

Would the US be the world`s number 1 superpower if not for Hitler, or the Japanese?

Some art may be more useful than working in a soup kitchen. Most is not.

Agreed completely with the sign. Is art important and valuable? Yes. Is it going to help put food in people`s stomachs? No.

An artist probably designed the font used to make that sign...
