And thus, my friends, we enter into the world of panentheism. The golden ratio exists through out nature, and we are hard wired to find it aesthetically pleasing. One mathematician tried saying that we find it pleasing because we were developed as hunters, and thus see the horizon as the golden ratio 1:1.16... But, there was never the explanation as to why. Or, why everything from DNA to galactic structures form this ratio. If it`s because the human eye perceives the horizon as 1:1.16, then why does a double helix have the same ratio, or the arms of a galaxy?
Proof of a external Zeus-like entity who created the universe? Very likely not.
Proof that there`s a universal order at work that exceeds our comprehension of space/time. Most likely so.

Math(s) is a wonderful and beautiful thing. More people would see that if it was always taught like this.

Wow, so it`s okay to cry "Where is your God now" but one someone makes a simple statement of "Proof of God" It`s preaching.

You, sir, are an idiot.

if math is proof of god, does that mean people who can`t learn math are doomed to burn in hell... Take your Christian views and stuff them up your ass, noone wants to be preached too and you should know that by now.

It closely related to the `golden ratio`, I believe. Which is to do with what the human mind finds Aesthetically pleasing. The Mona Lisa uses it, that`s one of the reasons it`s considered such a good piece of art.

Interesting thing, if you`ve ever chased a frisbee rolling on the ground, it does one of these spirals.

If you`re interested the thing she found on the side of the road is from a Magnolia (my personal favorite genus of trees and bushes). I too heart Vi.

@Freyr108 Da Vinci code briefly mentions the Fibonacci sequence, but doesn`t talk about how nature uses it. The Fibonacci sequence, and the related Golden Ratio, is used throughout nature due to it`s various efficiencies that was advantageous to evolution. It provides means to most effectively arrange leaves for maximum light exposure, or the most efficient way to pack seeds together.
Thanks for the vid 5cats, always fun to watch Vi Hart

It LOOKS obvious, now that she`s pointed it out, eh?

Before she did? Not so much. It`s just nature being AMAZING! And Vi noticing how amazing it is.
