Too bad the design wouldn`t permit hidden sharks with laser beams attached to the heads.

Don’t you mean ‘Too bad the design wouldn`t permit frickin sharks with frickin laser beams attached to their frickin heads.’

That being said, excellent multi-use and safety features.

This is a wonderful answer to pool safety with kids around, not to mention scooping out leaves and crap. But what kind of massive underground machinery is required to operate this thing?!

It`s called a hydrofloor. Simple hydraulics under a rigid floor that can adjust for depth. They can make them up to olympic sizes and the floor can even tilt to allow a shallow end and a deep end.

Well, sure - all you need is a 2-ton hydraulic piston with a 5` stroke, some high-pressure line, 2-way pilot-operated valves, hydraulic limit switches, an accumulator, a 3000 psi 2-stage hydraulic pump (that moves 28 GPM or so), the 5 hp motor to drive it, and the 220 VAC motor controller to drive that, wiring, the platform itself, excavation, temporary casting forms, concrete and bracketry.

good way to collect the lost pocket change, free bathing suits and leaves off the bottom.

they have an indoor version of this too. i wonder how deep the mechanics have to be to lower it. and how slow does it really go? the sun warms the water - how cold is it?
